this is a fantastic example of his physical comic ability. nowadays, to do that kind of stuff on the stairs, an A-list star like him would probably be attached to some wire, use a stunt double, or CGI :P

shirley macclaine is-& I know the word is overused-amazing. She's playing for laughs. Her vocal talent is obvious. And those moves. Both her and Jerry had to be in some kind of awesome physical shape to pull that off. No stunt or dance doubles like J-Lo etc. use

A really well done scene. Shirley MacLaine imitates many of the moves that Jerry Lewis often did as a character in various films. Another boost for the hopes of 'Everyman' to get the crazy, creative, pretty girl.

It's comedy , it's not supposed to be great singing , although there was no real great singing throughout the movie ...but it's still nice and funny . And she was not ugly at all . she was supposed to be a funny character in this movie . To pair her with Jerry Lewis .

@zthetha Are modern comedies better and do they wear decent clothing ? ...comedy is comedy ...she is not really a singer , but she does sings more in tune in the first chorus , then she sings more out , on purpose , trying to make it funnier . For some people it works , for others it doesn't .

there so many goofs in this scene that it's amazing that the editors didn't notice it! especially in the scene, where Jerry is in the doorway and Shirly is dancing around on the railing of the stairs...watch 3:10-3:25 and keep on your eye on Jerry's positions throughout.
