  • mischief670-

i think they should have done something with the early locomotives81-85,as they were all capable of toplink passenger work, even the 81s were rated at 2,800hp-

sadly all these examples lacked the technical wizardry of the 86-87s

  • mischief670-

its nice to know that the 87s are put to use again.

    iv,e always concidered them futuristic,

they are full of technical gadgetry including

time division multiplex for use on push-pull duties.

  • sorry just found this, i filmed it at barmouth got some good photos as well

  • Oh cool Lou, cheers!

  • mischief670-

seen the deltic tribute on the bbc in the 80s at kingsX!

saw the lad kissin the loco!, real deltic affection in front of millions!

been tempted myself when nobodys lookin!!!!!!, shy y'see

  • I wouldnt mind, just the prove how a devout fan I am, and how much mouthwash I own...

  • mischief670- i think they should have overhauled the 87s, there was plenty of residual value left in em.

the only parts which came under intensive

use were the bogies, traction motors and blowers and the transformer!

  • The Class 87s do have plenty of power in them, but they have been overhauled and sending over to Bulgaria in their thousands, and now it seems the 86s are going down the same path.

  • mischief60-

2x87s- 10.000 hp on freightliners on the wcml,- a true wcml fan!

    deltic x1 - 3330 hp,very loud,full of character-only slightly the winner!

  • Class 86s on liners pal, but technically they are the same thing, just 87s are a tad faster. Deltics are immense monsters, you cant compare them to anything.

  • mischief670- the deltics are enjoying a second outing,

they must have a good route availability.,

especially goin on the west highland line!

  • They have route availiability 5, which is extremely handy on lines like that and this.

  • Good solid machine on the rear!

  • Oh dont say that!

  • Great departure, I filmed it this afternoon at the southern end of The Central Wales line and she was on time and sounded superb...5*
