I really would love to be able to make the rasta beret beanie without the popcorn stitch...but i am getting frustrated in trying to do so because I lack the basic knowledge for crocheting....You have soo many wonderful videos! i wish my computer didn't take so long to load each individual video :(

@MsNecro93 if you go to any good craft store (Michaels or Ac Moore are some examples) they have books with detailed drawings of the stitches. They also have single sheets if you don't want to spend the money on the books. These were extremely helpful for me when I needed to learn a new stitch.

This cap can be made without the popcorn stitch. Use a half double crochet instead of the popcorn.

Do you have any videos on how to do the Rast Hat WITHOUT the Popcorn? I love this hat, made it also...but now I want to make a variation but I'm not sure what to substitute the Popcorn stich with. Thanks up front for all your help. GREAT videos by the way!

Just do a regular stitch.  It will not make much of a difference.

You insert your hook in the CH 1 space. That is underneath the the chain to complete your stitch.

I really want to make this for a guy. Could i do it the same way without the popcorn stitch? As well would this fit a large guys head. or would i have to increase it. If i would where would i have to increase it?

You can make it the same way without the popcorn. Just use a half-double crochet instead of the popcorn. I would suggest measuring his head. You may need to revise the pattern if his head is real large. As it is now, the cap is done for a 22-24" head. You can use a larger hook and add increase rounds to make it larger.

I would put a price of between $20.00-$30.00. If they are not selling as the day passes, you can always change the price. I always like to start out higher. I truly believe they are worth more than $30.00 but that does not mean they will sell for that.

I completed my first project, which was a scarf, but my goal was to learn to make beanies.
