TNR is a hoax. Get real......they are nonnative species responsible for killing off thousands of birds and ground laying animals every year. Around here, ANY free roaming cat is a dead cat, period. If you like your cat, keep it inside.
@3303073522 Good luck with that mission. For a rational approach catching feral cats and getting them fixed takes up a spot a breeding cat could fill so there will be less cats. Only so many cats can survive in a given area. Overtime if this is done enough you will greatly reduce the cat population which is your goal anyway.

@jessica56786789 if you spay a thousand cats you have 1M breeding and 1M+1k killing the environment. If you kill 1k then the environment is a bit safer. But encouraging feral cat hunting will get most or all of them.

The premise that sterilized cats will act as placeholders is bunk and unless you can verify 100% sterilization over a large area (>640 acres) then you have wasted a lot of time and money and reintroduced a lot of cats that will continue to be destructive to natural ecosystems for the remainder of their natural lives. TNR does not work. My community let the animal nuts come in and do it for 3 years--guess what? The cats kept disrupting the environment and yes, the colonies kept growing....and for all the TNR people who will tell me "they weren't doing it right," well they were, it just failed.
My neighborhood went to trap and kill (or adopt if possible) about a year ago and the problem is over. I have trapped a few myself, although the animal crazies do come by and try to accuse us of cruelty now and then

I highly recommend using the conibear type trap for catching feral cats. Works wonders on their population in my area. No more cat pee on my car or anything else.
My vet won't do the ear clipping, claiming that the cat would bleed too much. I've argued that this is better than putting a spayed female under GA and performing abdominal surgery, but they still won't do it!
My suggestion would be to find a new vet. The clinic I volunteer,and have worked for, has successfully eartipped at least 8,000 feral cats since 2005, and not one has bleed to death. We use a piece of guaze secured with a paperclip to stop the bleding. In time the gauze and paperclip fall off, after the cut has healed. When the cat is under and recovering, if it still bleeeding, stiptic powder works very well.
