@paulpeartsmith GOD! This song sounded so familiar all the time to me, I just couldn't define what was it exactly that made me feel I've heard something like it but now you've enlightened me! It's totally Prince-ish ^^
Bush is not afraid to tackle sensitive and taboo subjects. "The Kick Inside" is based on a traditional English folk song (The Ballad of Lucy Wan) about an incestuous pregnancy and a resulting suicide;
Great song, the only reason I think it wasn't on the album is because it mentions cloudbusting and a part sounds like suspended in gaffa " we can't have it all " so people would have thought it was unoriginal, but it is, all of her stuff are.
How have I lived this long (same age as Kate) and never have heard this beautiful song before? What a lovely surprise. The fifth decade can be extremely productive. I hope she's entering into these years of wonder and discovery and wisdom so it can filter out through her music.
I agree. This song is so much better than some of the tracks on The Red Shoes (TRS). But the atmosphere in this song is also different from most of the stuff on TRS which may be the reason that she left it to be a B-side. I don't konw?? But it's sure great stuff. Thanks for posting.
Claude Debussy's "Clair de lune" brilliantly transformed to her own. Like the band "Ra Ra Riot" transformed her song "Suspended In Gaffa" in a good way.
KATE so tutta bella:):):) what more can I say except I TEAMO you, make love for the peaches:):):)!! BRAVO LOAMO CHIN CHIN CHENTE ANNI SALUTE CAIO:):):)!!
Absolutely - couldn't agree more - but why didn't Kate make the choice - I suppose all geiuses have their off days - if you've liked this vid, I wonder if you'd like to check out my interpretation of Lord of the Reedy River? If not - then I'm glad you've enjoyed this!
Sorry for spamming, but after listening to this song a few times I've associated it with "The beekeper" probably by Tori Amos (I don't know her well). Do you think that she knew this song?
And, finally, what's so magical about being the beekeper (of course apart from being able to persuade all the bees not to sting you which is an achievement I must admit)?
These words remind me of some description I've read, stating that Jesus'es wonders were absolutely natural. Changing water into wine appears in nature only usually takes more time ;)

If my ears don't deceive me,the violins at the begining and at the end are playing the opening theme of "Clair de Lune " by Debussy.

Did Prince have anything to do with this? I hear his arrangements in the background...

Thanks for the upload!
Would be even more breathtaking to my ears without some of the cheesy drum-patterns.
Her use of Debussy's Claire De Lune is GORGEOUS.

It's bloody good, isn't it? I don't understand why it was relegated to the extras on a cd single either.
Robert9751 3 years ago 3
Its great, but I can see why it wasn't included, because I'm not sure it would have really fitted in with the rest of the material on the album.
But still, it's actually better than the A-track!
