the lower is is just a little high.

to anyone wondering how I tune it.

I tune the lower E first. Then I hold down the 5th fret on the Low E string. It will make an A sound. I tune the a string to that. I do the same with the 5th fret on all strings except the G sting, which I hold 4th fret. But all others It is the 5th fret. So 5th, 5th, 5th, 4th, 5th (high e you dont push down on, no other strings after it.)

I just got my first acoustic guitar yesterday, it's a spectrum, I can't play the first 3 or 4 frets of any of the strings, but every other fret after that plays perfectly. I have tried putting more pressure on these frets, but they still come out as rattly messes. I have played my friends acoustic before, and it did not have the same problem. So can someone tell me if spectrum isn't a good brand? Or If i need to change the strings or something?

@Zolomar You can learn playing on every guitar; when it's difficult to get a nice tone out of it, it'll only be easier on a better playing guitar. If the first 3 or 4 frets buzz, it's because the string's too close to the frets. In other words: your intonation isn't good and you can get that fixed at your local guitarshop. Cheers!

@Zolomar Sounds to me like you have a choke on these first few frets. Basically it means the strings are too close to the frets and the notes buzz instead of sounding properly. It's fixable, just go to your local shop and get the guitar set up.

if you have a tremmelo bar you need to re adjust the tuning a couple of times if you have locking tuners, loosen them and retune untile the pitch matches perfectly. when you tune a really out of tune guitar you are bending the neck slightly for every string so you need to keep adjusting the tunings accordingly hope this helps yall: --

@Winnders fix intonation according to chords or what you play most... or play style. like octaves for me should sound clean, if not ill fix it. but you cant get a perfect intonation if you dont make each band perfectly aligned with each tone and so on.. so my tip is make octaves sound good on,... this isnt a rocketscience unless you want to.

Vai probably just do that with that guitar as a project...
