i was walking home from school and a kid pulled a knife on me, i grabbed his arm's and then i kicked him in the knee's as hard as i could, got him to the ground took the knife and threw it, then i got him in a head lock and told the people watching to call 9/11, i was scaed out of my mind and it was a life and death situation so it makes you more attentive of everything, later on he was put in jail for 6 years, this happen in long island new york.

About god damn time someone said something worth while on this subject. FINALLY somone who takes a practical approach to this. Simple, fast, effective, no wasted movement god on you man. Its true in the UK you can go to jail for possing a knfe,just having it on your person,you are percieved as a threat "to law and order"criminals can do the kind of time they hand out here standing on there head,a good strike to the eye is the best and only defencive move you can "legally" make I recomend practice, it must become second nature,quick ,and hard,you are worth more to your family alive,don't let the fu~++rs get away with a 9 month sentance for ruining your life,FIGHT BACK.

finally something legit. I was taking kali and left it for the very reason he was talking about. Who is going to stick there hand out for you to lock it? The only thing I'd add is if it's possible to retreat some and then quickly close the gap, attacking their arm before they have a chance to think. This technique does well in real time sims. Good stuff!

There are easier alternatives to your defenses that enable you to get away. I too have done jujitsu and martial arts for over 30 years and trained in bad knife defenses but I had my eyes opened and would love to share, if you are interested in a more simplistic approach. But in order to learn you will have to empty your cup... Can you do that ?

We get it. If someone pulls a knife, it is a good idea to run away. It isn't rocket science. Let us move on. Going back to what I said earlier, that I do not know if I would stab someone in a fight, if I was in a situation where there is no other way out, and my life or the life of a loved one was at stake, I would have to use the knife to defense myself as best I could. But common sense says, if you can call the police, call them, if you can run, then run, if all else fails, and deadly force is the only option, then we have no choice.

I think for those people who say, "I can never stab someone", there is something to know about knife fighting/training schools, how can you defend against a blade if you do not know how to attack with one? People who practice defenses only against an overhead stab are not thinking like a knife fighter. I always tell myself to avoid situations at all costs, but we can never be certain that we will be out of danger. We can run if we see a knife, but what if we need to save a loved one?

Wow! Based on what I see here, you guys really know what you are doing. I have seen some terrible videos here on youtube, I can not believe some people still teach suicidal techniques like blocking the knife, and the myth that knife experts only use the reverse grip. I have practiced Filipino Martial arts for a few years, but I am still learning, maybe I can attend one of your seminars in the future. I do not know if I would stab someone in a fight, but its good to be prepared for a situation.

All the close combat techs is always in hypthetical slow motions...in real life...martial arts hardly comes in pics...what my brotha is say is right..you got to move away from the danger zone first before you strike the nigga to take control of his meat to control the salvasta fo real..you dig???

Thanks for the reply. And yes get off the danger zone first if you can. A knife attack is just that, an attack, not a fight. Minimizing the damage is to be understood and a part of the deal.

Smart man really intersting way of defending only don't get the first part where they are fighting against each other with knifes what kind of combat is that they could kill each other in a second so don't know for what kind of use that was but ok nice vid!

Folks that think they'll be time to pull a knife on someone attacking them with a knife should think it all the way through.
