compliments on the painting and drawing for the speed:) I would be very happy if you also visit my channel where you load videos of my artwork:) greetings from italy!
Wow, that was very inspiring. I recently started a picture of an alien kid in space and I messed it up chucking on too much blinking burnt sienna because I seem to remember that burnt sienna is meant to be cool and useful but actually it just looks like Mr Hanky has come early. I was totally at as loss for what to do, so thank you!
An update to my prior post. I have received the information to see this fantastic video. Evidently the artist was on holiday or delayed. Certainly worth the price and very detailed instructions and closeups to create this masterpiece. Thanks very much for sharing.
very nice! I am a beginner and was wondering a few things; first, do you keep the surface wet the whole time?so that you can blend the colors?and second what type of brush do you use for the blending?
Evidently Gagnon has retired or stopped giving lessons but his web site is still there. I tried to order one of his lessons as a trial before signing up for a course but even though all of the payment details went through, no lesson after several days. My card has not been charged and I've sent a couple of emails with no response. I hope that he is ok and has just lost interest.
That was very nice indeed,,I'm venturing into acrylic painting this week, I do only oil painting,,wet on wet which is my preference,,I love how one is able to blend and soften with that method.
Nothing ventured nothing gained so acrylics here I come,,you are certainly a talented artist,,thanks for posting.
Tim... what kind of paint do you use? Your pallets shows a thick blob of paint but it doesn't look like acrylic at all. Do you mainly use the dry brush technique?
actually to all who dunno and asking abt d powdery effect of d colours....... guys he have used NO WATER..!!!! his brush z dry.... n colours r also not really so wet.... try doing dis.... :)
I've read a few comments concerning using water, I would say you first of all should not mix your acrylic with water, but do wet the brush and perhaps make your canvas slightly wet, but only slightly to make it moist.
I have recently decided I would like to learn to paint. I find your demonstrations to be both educational and entertaining. It is awe-inspiring to watch you work and complete such beautiful and realistically amazing images.
I have recently decided I would like to learn to paint. I find your demonstrations to be both educational and entertaining. It is awe-inspiring to watch you work and complete such beautiful and realistically amazing images.
When I paint with acrylics they always dry up way too fast - so fast that I don't have time to blend the colors together. Why won't his colors dry up so fast? He blends them very slowly and it looks absolutely beautiful.. PLEASE help me!!
@honeymilkyhoney I'm learning to paint and I have the same problem as you. I tried mixing in a bit of water but then it gets too soft like watercolors. It is annoying that I can't find middle ground for it to look how I want.
@honeymilkyhoney try using acrylic retarder, it will really slow down drying time although if used too much it can change the colour of the paint so mix a bit in ur water and spray that over ur paints. U cud even apply a thin layer of medium on the painting before working. also never have the fan on!
@MrsLisaPotter what i don't understand/have alot of trouble with is how you paint objects at night. or in dark settings. do you know any that you recommend video that i should watch?
Whoah, very good technique you have aplicated there :) I like how you did the background and how you blur the intensities of white and light blue to form the cloud. I like it, the clouds look very detailed. Congratulations. Keep up the good work! :)
Acrylic paint is water based. Oil paint is, of course, oil based. Oil paint takes much longer time to dry than acrylics do. You need to use both to see which suits your style best.
@Lucindanne3 thanks a lot , in fact i am learning oil painting by myself and it is really difficult and giving me a hard time , i have so far achieved to paintings but i am not satisfied. thank you for the advice.
technically it's really good, but the lighting is wrong. Moon is a distant object, it cannot shine in front of clouds. If you can see it inside the painting only clouds silhouette should be lit.
@epsilorn You are technically correct about the lighting. However, it is "artist choice". You can make the moon become luminous like its light actually eminates from the canvas by putting a translucent halo around it. Also a very slightly warm tone at the very edges of the moon. The last thing is to keep the light on the clouds at least 2 value steps lower than the moon itself. Above all is soft edges on everything. Good demo though. Keep it up.
