I have made a trip with those family radios and they are a lifesaver. If you get the radios have alternative power methods either 12 volt etc and have fuses for the 12 volt.

LA a nice place to visit,but to live,I did grow up in Calif,but that was in the 1960's.Unless you can fly your own aircraft on a small airport,you would never get out,lets be real here.Its never going to that bad,most people will leave only if they have too.the Mayans had people ,just like we have all over the world,that make predictions,most don't happen,and you surely can't plan your life around them.

Ok - A couple Tips for preppers - I'm not down there anymore so I'm sharing.

Getting out of LA. You will need to think out of the box. The freeways will be jammed, so look at Alt routes out. One of my favorites was Angeles Crest either up Big Tujunga or La Cañada 2 over to Antelope Valley. I would have stayed in LA I would have bought me an enduro type motorcycle.

Also FRS GRMRS is nowhere near 49 Mhz. Tip: look into the Baofeng UV-3r covers both 2M & 70 cm (MURS, GMRS,&FRS) for like $45.

@TrachycarpusTakil I meant to say "If I would have stayed" and for those that do not know, when I mention enduro I mean on-off road type motorcycles. You may need a "him and hers". Get to know the trails through those mountains. If you have to you can take mountain bike trails.

I mention the Baofeng. It is not the perfect match for all the FRS freqs as they have some weird "steps" but close enough to be compatible and fine for the GMRS channels. There are other dirt cheap chinese rigs.

mass hordes coming to palmdale! that's where i am :( aquaduct right on the SA fault close to ave s on hwy 14 is concerning in a number of ways, my escape route is out of the AV and to high ground north of my location, that's if i decide to bug out...depends on the situation at the time? thanks for your informative videos!

Great video David. Thank you. You are definitely not overreacting. My aunt was handing out survival items for stocking stuffers this year. Not sure if something will actually occur within the next couple of years, but being prepared and getting into the state of mind needed is key in my opinion.

I'd say forget about the roads and highways there will be check points everywhere and people wanting to kill or rob you everywhere along the roads , there is nothing better than escaping on horses along horse paths or at least with offroad SUV but drive far far away from the roads if you want to survive , another option would be sailing towards the international waters if you can get your hands on a nice yacht ! there is nothing better than high sea when the SHTF

If it has in-fact been proposed then reasons are 2 fold, either interference with commercial bands, or someone wanting to commercialise that part of the spectrum.

What bummer. I live on the East coast, so I will have to go all the way across the country to escape from LA. Not only will I have to do that, but I will have to fight through everyone else who is escaping to get through the pass, to even get in to LA ,before I can escape. There has to be an easier way for me to escape from LA.
