I think Chenk is wrong here. Without the support of France and Italy and England the rebels would have lost against Khadaffi. Remember Khadaffi's troops were at the gates of Benghazi but only thanks to the 24/7 bombing of all military targets by the NATO the rebels had a chance , and since Iraq had a mutch larger army the uprise would not stand a chance without support. I think Chenk is wrong here. Without the support of France and Italy and England the rebels would have lost against Khadaffi. Remember Khadaffi's troops were at the gates of Benghazi but only thanks to the 24/7 bombing of all military targets by the NATO the rebels had a chance , and since Iraq had a mutch larger army the uprise would not stand a chance without support. Not saying here I think its right that America invaded Iraq but without it Sadam would stil be in control.

With the current status of Saudi Arabia not having the military capabilities to defend against a possible Iraq attack they asked the USA for help at a huge risk of uprising in their own country. In 1991, after the US had secured the Saudi Arabia border, they invaded and liberated Kuwait, but failed to destroy Saddams military power base.
This is when and why Iraq was invaded later in 2003.
