I don't know how this image could be taken as "hollywood image of AZN"... I don't see any dragon ladies, martial artists or any other "yellow peril" characters. I graduated with a BA in Asian American studies.. I think I would have noticed.
In fact, you should realize that there's a difference btwn Nikkei- Japanese American and Nihonjin- Japanese.
oh and my Grandpa was in the Japanese military too.
You are RIGHT. There is a difference btw the JAs and the japanese. Most JAs threw away their roots. They would rather forget and establsh themselves as just, well, American. Don't even bother calling yourselves JAPANESE-Americans. Why not just ASIAN-Americans. japanese americans especially play into hollywood. They wouldn't know bc they're used to it. Its time to face the TRUTH. In everyday-life, a lot of JA's are sell-outs to their own culture.
