To understand a culture so alien to you, you would have to read a lot and still it would be quite hard. To partake in the judgement or destruction of an entire culture based on fear alone is unjust and sinful.

Muslims have been in the parts of the world they are now for centuries, and there is no indication of their ideological fragile system spreading. It is impossible to implement this in Europe though.

Ulrna I'm thinking that since 1.2 to 1.57 billion Muslims populate the world, or about 25% of an estimated 2010 world population of 6.8 billion, that some 'spreading' has occurred since the 7th century. And to say that it's "impossible to implement this in Europe" is a bit naive considering that Spain, Southern France and Sicily were all under Islamic rule. Ten years ago I would have laughed if you told me that a Canadian Provincial government would endorse Sharia law, but it has.

@mccolpin Spain has actually quite an interesting history with both Zoroaster (pre Muslim), Muslim and Christian population. Both Zaragoza (between Spain and France) and Granada was Muslim states. But Spain is not a Islamic republic, it uses a West European model for parliamentary democracy. :)

France is a semi-presidential republic, Italy and Sicily uses a Parliamentary republic, none of the countries religion is Muslim.

By the time outrage prompted people to action, it was too late. it's not reactionary to take a threat seriously, especially when the killing has already begun.

Almost every major terrorist attack on the West in the past ten years has originated from communities in Europe (and England in particular), not the major Muslim nations.

There were a lot of fascist states at this time, from the first national Spanish fraction, to the Italian, German and Japanese. The problem at the start of the war was that western democrats often (in the lack of political concept) thought they had to align themselves to these as a contrast to the Communist side. it can easily happen today as well. Do you underplay your hand and risk the threat of a nuke going off in NYC or do you overplay the same hand and become the agent of your own decline? All governments overreact in times of crisis, and most return to normal in peace. The US constitution has been crumpled, then ironed flat again many times in our history.

I am no fan of the immigration, it has led to numerous cultural and political problems and the increased number of Muslim refugees from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq could not have come at a worse time I believe.

@mccolpin Yes, the European history is often detrimental and brutal, the colonial age was perhaps the darkest chapter in any history, but the strongest weapon any western nation can wield is still the moral high ground and the political superiority, and I believe it to be useless if we were to battle an enemy such as a terrorist organization with brute force. Executions and capital punishment would be useless as well, as these methods of punishment would only create martyrs.
