  • guardians......unleash your power! (AGAIN IF YOU GET THE REFERENCE AND THE PERFECT MATCH IT WOULD BE WITH THIS SONG YOUR LEET)

  • Legendary music..

  • the original is the best out of the two, i would have gladly played the remake if it wasnt for the weak battle system they decided to put in the DS version. but a really strong point the remake has, the remastered musical score is godly

  • nostolgia train decided to run me over... this was a freaking amazing game, even by todays standards, great music, simple yet effective gameplay, and a good story to back that up... Im sad to see the Lufia series mutilated by the newer "sequels", they tend to do crappy jobs at making sequels and spinoffs these days...

  • Love the music. I played the DS remake, one of my favourite games ever!!!!!

  • likes if dekkar or guy was your favourite characters.

  • Attack!

    Re-energize!

    Die

  • I remember playing the hell out of this game. Epic win.

  • A oldie, but goodie JRPG. :D

  • Something sounding like something else doesn't have to be in chronological order. :P Reminds me of the ffIV one as well, but still most definately distinct. I miss the snes days, putting 5x the money into a game sure doesn't seem to make games that are 5x better.

  • @ShionKreth true words buddy =P could not say it any better.... maybe: Lufia 2 made me cry .... cod did the same ... but because of my money I spend

  • @MissPiddelin Non factual. Try moar.

  • This game

    was my introduction to RPG's!!!!

i grew up with Lufia before getting dragged into any other RPG, game

    pure awesomeness,

  • this game along with Xenogears, Suikoden, and Grandia i have been wanting to play O_O

  • @McScreamo its a must!

  • @McScreamo PLAY LUFIA 2 NOW!!!

  • @ozzyblazer16 i now have lufia: fortress of doom. i will definitely get lufia 2 soon now :D

  • haha sounds exactly like the tune of final fantasy 7 right at the beginning.

  • @Aatish2k8 Would be more accurate to say FFVII sounds like this one.

  • @MrSlaide ah yea true. since this came out first :)

  • wow sounds nice ^w^~!

    what system is it for?

lets c if there's any roms for this X3!

  • @UltraPenguinx3 lufia 2 and lufia 1 those games are for the Super nintendo, I own both and yes they are good.

the company taito is owned by square enix the last known game I heard was being remade I think maybe for ds. though im not sure anymore

  • @UltraPenguinx3 Yeah they're should be a rom for it, i remember playing this game on the SNES Emulator, epicly awesome,

  • @tchiu08 Humbley agreed!

  • one of best rpg ever play the DS version is the worst of all series

  • @tchiu08 It's really sad how so few of the newer FF groupies don't know about 6. ALOT of them started with FF7 & never played the originals...such a shame that they started getting into the series JUST AFTER the best Final Fantasy was released.

  • @DarkKadan Agreed. I was too young to remember when that game first came out but the first Final fantasy game I ever played was the first one. Ever since I've worked my way through and beat every single FF game and VI and XII are definitely the best.

On the topic of this song and game they are both amazing. I have always loved the Lufia series and I never get tired of running through this game. Sad series though.

  • @someonethere1122 True but some of the best stories have some of the saddest moments as well. I really like the Lunar games & they've got some sad moments too. Heck one of the things that makes Final fantasy VI the BEST in the series is the fact that Kefka was able to accomplish what he set out to do, & since the heroes FAILED to save the world they've got to make up for that. Kefka is one of the most entertaining & the BEST/most accomplished FF villian thus far.

  • @DarkKadan Oh definitely. I like playing the games where the villain triumphs over the hero at one point or another. As you said thats what made FF VI the game it was. The heroes failed to accomplish their mission and then you get to see what happened to the world because of their failures. Of course I also like it that the game didn't end and the heroes get to redeem themselves. If the game had ended there I wouldn't have liked it as much. :p

  • @someonethere1122 Lol, you got me to think, this battle is for the destiny of all souls O_O its remember me my epic homework

  • @tchiu08 Well that's still good, atleast Neverland has a large money source from Square like Bioware does with EA. I'm glad, that means this game will be better for it!

Gameplay & action seem to be fast & pleasing while maintaning a smooth frame rate. I was worried this wouldn't come state side but it's good it is. NOW I just have to wait for Final Fantasy VI to be announced for the 3DS!!!!!!

  • epic music !

  • this music is a part of my childhood.

    i will never forget it

  • WTF? This sounds just like Quest 64!!

  • @DarkKadan and @Replicatorz Lufia was made by Natsume the same people that do the Harvest Moon games.

  • Definatly a good Square RPG that needs more spot light.

  • @DarkKadan square didn;t make lufia, it's one of those non-square rpg's which compare well to the best of square games.

  • @Replicatorz Well then Square bought out Lufia from the creators because Square is the one making the DS story of Maxim.

  • Lufia 4ever :)

  • Simply EPIC! At least once for year, a CERTAIN replay...

  • song reminds me of that bitch-ass hard Tarantula..lol

  • They translated this game in dutch, that was so epic.

  • was anyone else sad at the end of the game?

  • @JiuClaw22 Even though if you played Lufia 1 you knew what was coming it was still depressing.

  • @SpooniestBard I played 1 after 2. Found 1 in a big bin at a Service Merchandise Store many many years ago. I still have the strategy guide for it as well :)

  • daaamn just a regular battle song is this good?

  • @xp14y639 I thought this was the Boss music? Still Epic

  • Maxim, Guy, Artea, Selan.. Legendary!! :D

  • I skipped school just to play this game, one of the best RPGs ever!

  • awsome song!! and awsome game!!

  • This song is just excellent. I have the remix called "Last Chance" from OCRemix and it stays very clear to its roots but really gives this song fresh air.

  • @Russ88765 the epicness man

  • best rpg ever

even if it was a slight rip off it was the greatest

  • 隠れた名曲

  • very very very epic! nice tribute to one of the best snes rpg´s in my opinion

brings back good memories of childhood

  • The intro sounds like Final Fantasy. Very nice theme.

  • sounds alot like FF1 battle music

  • one of my fav RPG!

  • hmm great song

The beat and heavy metal part is amazing.

  • Gee the begining part to this sounds familiar DOESN'T IT?

  • To what?

  • @HeavensMeat Zeromus

  • Wheres Yasunori Shiono right now? This deserves an statue in Japan for making this soundtrack. All of it is full of epicness.

The "Final battle" theme which is played in the forstress of doom.......man is really beyond words beautiful...

We miss this kind of quality in modern games indeed.

  • @Russ88765

It didn't. The other song is Battle #3, this is Battle #2, which is much better IMO.

  • this music bring me to a happy place =)

  • Dekar Rules For life. best character in jrpg history!

  • They're remaking it for the DS as a fucking ACTION RPG!!! Fail.

  • I know, right? :/

  • @whatthefuck66666

No, not fail. It's a complete re-imagination of the game. If they did it the exact same way again, just for a new console with like a new dungeon or something I'd play it once and be done with it. But because this version's going to be so radically different, I know I'm gonna have a great time with it. If I wanted to play something like the original, I'll play the original. I'm glad they're doing it this way.

  • Well I don't know why every RPGs' coming out now are actions! I have nothing against them, I just bough the remake of Star Ocean 2 and don't get me wrong, but fuck man we all miss the turn based and Square knows it.

  • @whatthefuck66666 YAY FINAL FANTASY CHRISTAL CHRAOONNICALLLS!

    8DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • @whatthefuck66666

    I think that's pretty cool.

  • @whatthefuck66666 What, are your stupid nostalgia goggles causing your narrow little mind to reject the fact that the remake is actually good?

  • @IYellalot Ohh getting personal aren't you...

  • @whatthefuck66666

No worries, there aren't any solid changes aside from graphical updates, it was just a rerelease. It actually turned out damned amazing, I'd suggest giving it a shot.

  • @whatthefuck66666 Keep in mind it's being made by the EXACT same company, Neverland, that made the original SNES game. So by calling it a fail, you're insulting the people who created this game you enjoyed. And before you say it, Square Enix is only publishing the game, not making it. And also, have you even played it? How do you know whether it sucks or not? Wanna play the game first before you go around bashing it?

  • @whatthefuck66666

However it WORKS vs Gades. Makes this moment more badass.

  • @whatthefuck66666

WAITAFUCKINGMINUTE! Action RPG's are awesome, and Lufia DS is no exception.

  • @whatthefuck66666 Epic Fail my friend

  • this song should at least be top15, 16bit masterpiece

  • lufia rockt

  • I've never played this game, but I know this awesome song note-for-note. Where might I have heard it?

  • maybe u played it when u were young

  • Some RPG-Maker games used this music I think. Maybe you heard it there. This is my absolute favorite :) Lufia 2 was my personal favorite on SNES :)

  • cool song.

Woo i'm happy lufia 1 and 2 get recognition.

    I always loved this game.

  • Damn it been so long sinse i heard this music!, i been looking for this back then and now is when i find it! :D

  • FUCK YEAH! LUFIA PRIDE!

  • This game is OLD.

The music in this game is godlike.

Great game with an amazing soundtrack.

  • Definitely. I hardly recognize Selan, to be honest...she's missing the characteristic ponytail, first of all. Second, I don't remember her hair being that color--it was green in the SNES version!

I'm curious as to what Tia, Dekar, and Artea look like...

  • She has the ponytail. Look closer.

  • Artea is the Elf left under in the screen, and Underneath Maxim is Guy

great game I'm playing it now again :D

  • I watched the trailers and i gotta say...the remake seem like a new whole game since the world is hardly the same design anymore and new character designs so instead of thinking of it as an remake of Lufia 2 its more like an alternative Lufia 2, If you ask me.

  • New technology means new ideas which equal to many possibilities of gameplay. Don't get me wrong, I like the old turn base gameplay on rpg.

  • What, you don't like the new jrpgs where it has to pain to six different views of the same 3 sets of monsters, then panning to 4-6 views of your own characters (in case you forget what they look like from the last fight you were in) before actually bringing up a command menu? What's wrong with you?!

  • Both of you are wrong, appearantly--it's being remade for the DS. The squad's getting an outfit redo as well--looks more modern...which is not a change that I'm sure I like (*cough* Selan *cough* Guy...*wheeze* maybe Dekar). Maxim and Gades look fine, it's the rest of the group I'm worried about (watch the trailer).

Coming out in Japan on 2/25/2010...no US release date at the moment.

  • fuck the wii. put it on PS3.

  • damn a lufia remake for the wii would be win

  • old school goodness.

  • One of the best battle themes ever!

  • Comment removed

  • Wow...nice choice of image to accompany the music.

Lufia II is probably the last game of its caliber...and may be the last one EVER unless developers stop spewing out all the modern crap we all know and "love". Lufia II is AMAZING...

  • I gotta agree with you on that. What happened to the "fantasy" aspect of RPGs? RPGs are supposed to be an escape from reality, not a shoot em up, beat em up, button mashing fest. And this is coming from a huge fighting game fan!

I liked Lufia II because it actually required you to have a brain and encouraged the use of strategy, something that has definitely been lacking in most modern RPGs.

This theme is so epic! And RPG fan would know this is a boss battle upon hearing it!

  • new lufia must come for the wii

  • I love this song. All the battle themes in this game are so BADASS, just love it

  • I agree lufia battle theme is awesom.

  • Good stuff right here, it's been so long since i played this. I can remember being stumped on those puzzles a couple times. I wish more games had that.

  • 0:00-0:06 is my favorite

  • such an amazing game and music

  • great theme

  • YES LOVE THIS DAMN GAME! And I thought noone had heard of it.

  • I just wish the Sinistrals were more difficult in this game. You actually have to hold back in order to enjoy the music without killing them too quickly, which is kinda lame.

  • This has got to be one of the greatest boss themes of any game... However, because I'm weird, one boss theme that's beats this is the one from Lufia 1. I swear that the rest of Lufia II is light years better, but the L1 boss theme stayed in my head for YEARS after the first time I heard it.

  • Yes heaps good song. It's good to see you included SNES games =]

  • Are you fucking high?

  • i am ,too

  • Lufia is the best rpg in the 90ies (for me) and in fact it is a real classic and must have. i love lufia

  • This is higher than the sinistrals theme? FOR SHAME!

  • I agree, but they're both utterly fantastic.

  • Nah this is more epic.

  • This is my shyt!!! Great @ #11

  • YAY NUMER 11 !!!!

  • Funny but this game is earlier than ff7

  • I'm gonna get fuckin' flamed, and thumb down'd, but the intro of this somg sounds a bit like "Birth of a god" from Final Fantasy.......... <,< 7.

Or, to be more accurate, that part in Birth of a God reminds me of this song's intro.

  • It does :P

  • Yes, you will get flamed, because if anything, that song stole their beats from this since this game came out before ff7.

    ps ff7 sucks

  • This is no.1 for me

  • Lufia II is one my all time favorite games. The OST is amazing. ;D

  • I would have to say that Sinistral Battle beats this out

  • No way.

  • Sinistral is good but this tops it for me...one of the best OSTs ever

  • damn i love this song...

    Lufia for life!!! :)

  • So many memories, epic game.

  • This song reminds me of that goddamned Tarantula.

    Still epic regardless.

  • haha me too man, I remember just letting the screen sit there while listening to the tune and being blown away by it. Pure Epicness.

  • Man, I really dig that choked electric guitar in the background. Or whatever that is.

  • Man, I love Lufia II

  • This should be at least #2 or #1.

  • EPIC

  • I have to agree with your placement of battle theme #2 over battle theme #3. Both are great, but #2 is just plain incredible.

  • Awesome song and game.

Beating the ancient cave was one of the most fulfilling things i've done in a JRPG.

Also, gotta love the puzzles on this game.

Oh, I almost forgot about Dekar! What a great character ^^

  • I agree. Lufia II was definitely one of the most fullfilling rpgs out there.

Most of the time, completing subquests leaves you with a taste of "yeah...now what?" but completing the ancient cave was like "I'm so badass".

  • agreed 100% ^^

  • I would like a remake of this game for the ps3

  • Or a release on the virtual console atleast.

  • Awesome game, awesome music.

My personal favorite is the Sinistrals theme.

  • Comment removed

  • Holy s*** I played this back in the days.... how could I have forgotten this awesome theme.......

  • awesome game and awesome song!

  • nostalgic =(

    awesome song !!

  • I remember seeing this game on my emulator list and playing. I got to this music and said "WoW this sounds like something outta final fantasy or somethin!"

  • I love this bgm it's so motivating with power.truly fantasy game.

  • havent event played this game but this song is cool.

  • Hey, some of the comments on this are pretty recent. This is easily my favorite music in all of the Lufia series, and probably of most, if not all RPGs. I'm actually surprised it made it this far up the list; I didn't think people liked old SNES synthesized music from a game most people don't even know about.

And always save before a boss. Things happen to you (*cough* Destroy) that will kill you even if you're five levels over.

Excellent choice, you win the game.

  • There are a lot of old SNES RPG fans, including the music.

  • Yep! Because SNES RPGs kick face!

  • Hearing this music should provoke the reaction of "OH SHIT. I forgot to save!"

    Epic.

  • I love the battle songs in this game. They really get you pumped for the fights.

  • great.

    its great song.

  • Best boss battle song ever (at least for me)

  • Agree 100% this should be #1

  • this song is FUCKING BADASS I LOVE IT!!!

  • This reminds me of the no armour, and no weapons playthrough I had. Bloody hell, that was nuts.

  • I take my sweet time with the boss battles, because song is so damn good.

  • YESSS!!! This is THE one song I was hoping was on the list! And it so deserves to be up this high! And Phandral, I absolutely feel ya on what you said, this song was the best part of the game imo. It was a great game in its own right, but this song really made it stand out for me. I would sit there and jam out to it before even starting the actual fight. When I got to the extra 99 level dungeon thing it got kind of monotonous tho and I stopped playing. I never shoulda tried that dungeon...

  • LOVE THIS SONG SO DAMN MUCH

  • sinistral song from lufia 2 was better

but still damn good, SUCH A DAMN GOOD RPG

    I REQUEST TO EVERYBODY

  • GOD I love this song. Maxim's like a prince who's ambitious, Guy's like this tough football player, Selan's like a beauty queen, and Artea's like some preppy asian guy who studys a lot.

  • This is easily one of, if not THE most badass boss tracks in ANY game in any genre.

To reiterate a previous sentiment, the game was awesome, but I swear I what really got me through the game was to have a another chance to hear this track and this track only.

This of course, was before the age of high speed internet and MP3s.
