In the manga it is hinted in the end that Aiko actually survived and has her own art exhibition in the local museum just like her mother (Wanta passes by a poster with Aiko all grown up). It seems like Kurama lied to Lucy for some reason
@phailatio i came up with this theory that aiko might had lost her memories and thus kurama said that she had "died". lucy's simply too good of a research tool to let go, hence why he said it.

She tells Lucy that Aiko is dead because he dosn't want his boss to know he let her lived. Hope that makes you feel better.

Yeah, I probably liked the OVA more than any episode in the series, to tell you the truth. This scene was definately the saddest in my eyes. On a lighter note, is it me or is Lucy as flat as a board here, whereas in the manga scene, her chest is HUGE? She must've had a growth spurt. :P
It's extremely hard to explain why and how without telling the entire backround of the events leading up to this scene. But she definately had a good reason too, because her stepfather was extremely abusive to her.
(It explains in the manga) Her step father tried to stab her so she pushed his hand out of the way, slashing his throat in the process. After that, she and Lucy went to search for the girl (Aiko)'s mother, who was a talented artist inside a museum. It is inside said museum that this scene took place (they never found her mother).
I have this scene and the events leading up to it in the manga. However the manga volume I have that contains these scenes are in kanji so i can't read them T_T. But thanks for the clarification on it, it all makes perfect sense now.

Yeah, I probably liked the OVA more than any episode in the series, to tell you the truth. This scene was definately the saddest in my eyes. On a lighter note, is it me or is Lucy as flat as a board here, whereas in the manga scene, her chest is HUGE? She must've had a growth spurt. :P

It's extremely hard to explain why and how without telling the entire backround of the events leading up to this scene. But she definately had a good reason too, because her stepfather was extremely abusive to her.

(It explains in the manga) Her step father tried to stab her so she pushed his hand out of the way, slashing his throat in the process. After that, she and Lucy went to search for the girl (Aiko)'s mother, who was a talented artist inside a museum. It is inside said museum that this scene took place (they never found her mother).

I have this scene and the events leading up to it in the manga. However the manga volume I have that contains these scenes are in kanji so i can't read them T_T. But thanks for the clarification on it, it all makes perfect sense now.

@impaled1138 What happened was her mom was an artist and she made a painting for her mom ow left along time ago so when the gfather found it she try to stop him for stabing it and ended up stabing him
