Because electric wires hanging around everywhere is a public nuisance to the city and our communities, charging units installed on the curbside of our streets isn't a very good idea. We should begin research on whether wireless charging is possible using radio-electronic waves from one sensor to another.
Certainly looks cool. MultiMonitor's point about salt and ice is a good one. The good note is that it does get rid of the issue of the need for a plug based charging station, which could be vandalized.
That's cool news. Have you guys considered something like a heated and motorized cover that would protect the system while it's not in use and would automatically slide away when in use?
Snow, salt, and ice would rip this to shreds. If plugging in a power cord is too much work for drivers then there is always the Roomba autodocking method.
Thank you for your critics - the voice was done by our Australian mate, slightly parodying the way of presentating Etran (also on youtube).
The system, at first being designed for the Netherlands, considers harsh weather, but a detailed plan of the mechanism that can withstand even more extreme conditions is under development.
Thank you for the advise about the Roomba - we are still looking for a system to actually dock.

Too many hype words, not enough thought.
