The weight difference is huge as well, diesel engine to get those figures let me see both BMW and Mercedes achieve something like that. You are talking split second difference, here not only you have top performance SUV with better economy, but also you can actually use it as SUV not tuned up version just to hit the 0-100 mark and when it comes to SUV usability its useless and both ML 63 AMG and X5M are just that.

Of course the weight diference is huge, because it is a diesel, and diesels are a lot heavier, gearbox of the diesles have to be stronger, so heavier again, if it has a petrol engine it would be much lighter...

Look at the same cars with similar engines, as you see, there isn't that much diference:

ML 320CDI - 2205kg

Q7 3.0 TDI - 2325kg

X5 3.0d - 2180kg

Then...

Q7 V12 TDI - 2605kg And we are talking bout engine and speed, the usability is irrelevant for what we are talking about.

If your talking about speed engine difference than ML and X are not on the same level as Q7. Q7 is lot larger heavier, but if you want to compere Audi to Mercedes than compare Q7 to GL where BMW has no production to be compared in this class, either way this Q7 diesel engine has technology that is world stage winner, powerful reliable superior and is not used to be raced around as SUV is not for that, it has power and is to be used as proper SUV unlike ML AMG and XM.

Again, the V12 TDI is a ot heavier because its a diesel, and diesels are heavier. The chasis it self is only abut 100 - 150kg heavier than his competitors, as you see when you compare them wiht similar engines. but the V12 version is a lot heavier than the similar powered petrol competitors, about 300kg+ diference. And you still have to explain how a V12 twin turbo engine is more reliable than a NA V8 like the Merc. Not to mencion that particle filters in new VW TDI engines are VERY unreliable.

SUV are to be used off and on road, where Q7 smashes both ML and X like they are not even there, you can almost put both X in the boot and pull ML by Q7 and be driven around mud, just being sarcastic, but that's the pulling power it has. Now it is most powerful diesel engine aver, and it can be used as SUV ML and X struggle.

TDI technology of Audi is by far better than both BMW and Mercedes and are lot more reliable too, i have friends who drive TDI Q7, A4, A3 and not one problem in fact they are loving it coming from benzine so your wrong there body, Audi small engines with huge power better fuel economy better than both BMW and Mercedes, brilliant engines that be petrol or diesel, done and gone fact.
