@gokharol it's the same as in Korean. in fact, it is easier to write these things in Korean since for each Chinese character, there is an exactly equivalent 1 Korean syllable for it. Here are the days of the week written in Korean: Monday: 월요일, Tuesday: 화요일, Wednesday: 수요일, Thursday: 목요일, Friday: 금요일, Saturday: 토요일, Sunday: 일요일.
金 in japanese is the kanji for gold, and since it comes within the kanji symbols for Friday than it totally makes sence since friday is the best day in week, `cuz the next 2 days are weekend! what a relief friday is ... \(^o^)/
@jagerbabe36 if you learn the radicals that is the different components of the kanji it makes remembering them a lot easier. I remember kanji but sometimes i forget one of the readings and read it wrong I think all of the different readings is what makes kanji hard
kanji is derived from chinese characters to say a japnese word mostly nouns, adjectives, and verbs. Hiragana and katakana is the alphabet. Hiragana is used for any other part of a sentence and is a bit curvy. Katakana is used for foreign words and is more straight and used for certain words. ex:TV=terebi, Sports=Suppotsu, VCR=Bideo, and many others
You can learn hiragana 『平仮名』 within about one week if you really want to, about the same for katakana 『片仮名』. Kanji 『漢字』 takes about 6 months to a year. But in return you get an enormous amount of vocabulary.
If you practice for one hour every day, you will not forget them ever again. It takes that much effort though.
no. even u know hiragana and katakana. and some kanji.. u also nid to learn how to use it... and most of all learn the language.. and that makes it hard... i'm already 9 months here at japan... mastered hiragana and katakana but sometimes i get confused bec i know lots of kanji (from grade 1-6 in range of 1000 chracters). u may laugh bec. that's all i've learned in almost 1 year of staying here at japan but its not dat easy i'm telling u...
I started learning Japanese for about a week and a half and that's it. I almost have the hirigana down PERFECTYLY, only because I'm dedicating myself to it.
I'm hoping to have hirigana and katakana perfect by the end of the summer, and alot of kanji, although I know that's gonna take a while
I just noticed it says this is a test version... so this way is better. It's not for learning, where everything should be on one page at the same time.
hmm when it starts out as kanji then hirgana, is the meaning all the same? oh are you able to write full sentences with kanji or just hirgana? i want to learn this.
The hiragana is there to help you be able to pronounce the kanji if you don't know how to. And yes, it is possible to write sentences with only kanji or hiragana, but most of course will have a mixture of all 3 writing systems.
ohh. ok. thanks. i have been learning hiragana from a person here who teaches it. but he hasnt been on for 3 months. i have only seen 4 episodes. it sucks
Hmm you can't actually write japanese in all kanji. It wouldn't make sense. The kanji you use to write the hiragana parts would have a different meaning than the hiragana equivalent. and though you can write entirely in hiragana, it's a little hard to know which meaning you are writing without the kanji. That's why kanji and hiragana are still used together.
I finally memorized the days in nihongo PLUZ it was when i was writing it all down while i watched it then *finger snap* BOOM MEMORIZED! LOL Thx for the vid snapkitten!
BTW how do you read kanji from ON and KUN im kinda stuck cuz im studying kanji and i already know hiragana and katakana
Wow, I'm surprised how much I still remember. I'm getting the days of the week all mixed up now though. I took japanese in college over 3 years ago : p
Hiragana is one of the 'alphabets' that is used in japanese. For instance "Arigatou" is made up of 5 hiragana. A, RI, GA, TO, U, or in hiragan it's あ り が と う.
Hiragana is not considered an alphabet for it has phonetic value. Because of this and that it is a consenant value based language it is considered a syllabry. 分かりましたか。
about 61% of the Japanese language is considered Kanji which is Chinese basicly.
Although in China there are two kind of writing system: the Old Kanji and the new. the Taiwanese still uses Traditional. In China words are a bit simplifyed but still might be hard to learn for some westerners.
Japanese should be considered as a dialect of Chinese.
No. Not in pronoucication of the words at least, Chinese Cantonese is like Japanese a bit but still its different. Because it have partial Romanji
It's not RomaN-ji.. It's Rōmaji, without "N".. :D

"Kanji" literally means "Han characters".Yet another stolen invention from the Han Dynasty, which they are trying to call their own.

I recommend you put a goood year or less until you know both Katakana and Hiragana off by heart in correct order (like our A, B, C etc).
That's how long it took me learning solo. ;)
Brightstar27 3 years ago
I don't know how long it takes solo, but I'm a first year japanese student and I learned it by heart in 2 weeks xD
But I agree that it would take a lot longer trying to learn it by yourself, unless you want to spent many hours a week...
