Intellect is defined by a capacity for knowledge. Edmund Kemper was undoubtedly intelligent, but was emotionally void to an extent and thus lacked emotional empathy. More and more jails are being built and more guards have to be hired which puts a strain on all of us. It's a life sentence for her as well that she may never recover from or maybe she will. Some things are worst then death you know. The rapist may have had a life and a family but why did they have to ruin someone else's life? How would their family feel knowing they have the flood of a rapist or a murderer? They have to move away.

Second, you have no right to say they don't deserve to live, yes they murdered someone, they made mistakes, but what if in those 30 years of prison time they get their mind straight and want to be good again, you have no right to deny a person to redeem him/herself. I'm not saying this is a solution but, it certainly doesn't help aspiring killers by prepping up existing and past killers as brilliant minds lmao. Though technically they may be, they're often made out more as super heroes.
Also, half of them aren't that intelligent. There are a few like Bundy who are pretty intelligent, I wouldn't go as far as 'exceptional' though. I'm not a killer but I can constantly see ridiculously sloppy holes in most of their executions.
