  • A great artist gone too soon..

  • My first love Ruben and I went and saw Bobby Fuller in El Paso. It was a great concert one I will never forget. Watching his video of I fought the Law brought back so many memories. He was a great singer. I do miss his songs. AMK

  • Attended a school dance in at Cathedral High School in El Paso, TX featuring the Bobby Fuller Four in Jun '66. Great fun dancing with my girl to his music.

  • Attended a school dance featuring the Bobby Fuller Four in Jun '66. Great fun dancing with my girl to his music.

  • very well done,of a long gone great, taken before his time

  • very well dont, truly missed by all

  • THANK YOU!!!! : )

  • You did a great job on this. There was a one million dollar life insurance policy taken out on Bobby Fuller when he signed to Del- Fi. The recipients were a bunch of mob guys. When he died, no one came forward to claim it.

  • great video! Well done.

  • Makes your heart ache at this time of year to think he has been gone over 44 years ago and yet his music sounds as good as ever. RIP Bobby.

  • I applied to SVA yesterday! Wish me luck. And I love the film!

  • This was great work. I hope you're hired to do a full length documentary about Bobby Fuller someday. He deserves to be remembered, and his band was far more talented than the overrated and over-hyped Beatles and Rolling Stones.

  • Great Video.

  • Excellent work Nick!

  • Great job on adding depth to the photos and on the sound mixing!

  • Bobby was murdered

  • THANKS FOR HAVE PUT THIS GREAT VIDEO STORY!!! CIAO FROM ITALY ,RIMINI FELLINI HOMETOWN!

  • Saw them many times at It's Boss in Hollywood

    What a band

  • An authentic rebel Texan! Very nice job. Thanks for the mini doc.*****

  • his death is really spooky. and it was sloppy too, maybe just some local dude did it with his little crew of misfits? maybe Fuller was blocking his chance at fame because Fuller was a rising star! and the dude just flipped out?

  • I never get tired of listening to Bobby Fuller,he was truly great. I also love listening to David Box...another West Texas legend, who, like Bobby was taken too soon.

  • Just awsome !!!!

  • Great job! As you say, a vastly underrated artist.

  • Thanks for posting!...They did an E Hollywood story on Bobby some years ago. If you haven't seen it, it's really interesting...

  • Such a pleasure to watch thus video of one of the best exponents of real Rock and Roll that the Sixties produced, and one fit to keep company with the originators from the Fifties, including his own hero, Buddy Holly. I find it hard to believe that the Bobby Fuller Four did not become more successful than they did, and can't understand why they didn't - .

Thank you, Nick, for such a well-crafted video of an outstanding group, led by the unforgettable, irreplaceable...Bobby Fuller.

  • Great Documentary & Tribute To A Rock n Roll Music Artist!!!...Great Share & Post!!!...Thankyou aristacourt.....Anita..

  • they hit it big with "i fought the law" and bobby was probably murdered by mob goons hired by the ex-boyfriend of a girl that bobby was dating.

  • Is that Bobby playing a Danelectro double cutaway @ 1:59? Is Randy on the Les Paul Junior to Bobby's left? And is that a young Dalton Powell on drums?

  • Excellent! I've always believed there was more to his death than what was "reported." Like most people from El Paso, I had the chance to watch hi m rehearse, literally, in his garage.

He did us (El Pasoans) proud.

  • I was the Road Manager for The Bobby Fuller Four 1966. I took alot of the photos shown on this video over a 5 year period. Randy, Bobby and I attended Burges High School. My Mother wrote 13 songs with Bobby and "A New Shade of Blue" was in "Boys Don't Cry" and "Deadbeats" movies. Look at how exhausted Bobby looks in the pics @ 3:07 & 3:07 that I took at a football stadium on a Sunday afternoon in Cambridge,Mass. May 1966. We worked every night and sometimes days of the week. What a loss.......

  • Nick, there are 8 new videos that have surfaced on FACEBOOK's "BOBBY FULLER 4" Adm: by Alison Martino. These are must see videos. I took some of the pictures on your video: 1:59--2:04--2:26--2:40--2:46--2:47--2:53--2:57--3:04--3:07--4:01--4:06--4:45--5:52. My favorite was taken at 4AM Bobby in front of the 2 New * Track tape recorders that were mounted in the store room of his parents garage. He had cut a window thru the wall so he could see into the den to view the musicians.

  • thanks for the information, I'll go check those out if I can find them. Thank you for pointing out which photos are yours. Really excited to hear from you!

  • Great documentary about a true Rock n Roll music artist....Bobby Fuller.

  • Their drummer, Dalton Powell, still lives here and his original drum kit was featured last year in a museum tribute to The Bobby Fuller Four and Rock and Roll in the '50's and '60's. One day the truth will come out about who murdered him and why.

  • Thanks for taking the time to comment and reflect, good to hear from you. I've seen a photo of his drum kit in the museum online before.

  • Thanks for the great tribute to Bobby. You have really done some outstanding work hedre. I live in El Paso and have been by his house and where the Rendezvous was in Hondo Pass many times. Unfortunately I'm not from here originally and never got to see him when he was alive. The photos of him and the band with a corrugated roof over their heads was when they were playing at the grand opening of the then new Bassset Center Mall. They performed on an elevated stage there.

  • @AceOnTheBass100 I wanted to correct something I said here - BFF wasn't playing on an elevated stage, but the roof of the kiosk that housed the Buck Rogers Travel agency in Bassett Center Mall. I don't think Buck Rogers is there any more, though the agency still has 1 or 2 branches here in El Paso, and Bassett Center is now Bassett Place.

  • Very nicely done, very enjoyable. A great rock n roller.

  • Thank you.

  • Thank you for the video. Excellent!!

  • Hey This GREAT!

I've been a B.F fan for long time, but there's lot's of new stuff here... Thanks for posting & makin' this!

    BRILLIANT!

    Cheers!

  • Nice man!! great work :D

  • Beautiful! Bobby was the best, and it was so great to see your beautiful documentary with such rare pics, etc. Thanks!

  • Nice job. This was cool to watch.

  • Hey Nick, loved this short doc. I'm a huge BF4 fan (hosted a tribute night to them on the LES years ago as well). How did you get interested in the subject? Are you working on a full length? You're probably already aware but the new Wes Anderson movie (Fantastic Mr. Fox) ends with a big scene that features BF4's Let Her Dance.

  • Nice work!

  • Thanks so much Nick. Who could ever know how the music we love would have further evolved had the likes of Bobby Fuller and Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran lived

  • three of my favorites, thank you

  • @NickCarroll66 Hi Nick--I just came across your excellent documentary video. Bobby has always been a favorite of mine. I belonged to his fan club...he was just sooo good! I was so sad when he died, and I still think of him often. What a talented young man. I still miss him.~~~Marilyn

  • Excellent documentary! I've been re-listening to my "Best of Bobby Fuller Four" CD lately, and your short film was a very welcome sight indeed.

  • thank you!

  • Thanks for a wonderful documentary. I've always loved his music as a kid growing up in the 60's and his music still sounds as fresh and kick ass as it did back then. I hope he gets inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he influenced so many musicians yesterday and today. Imagine how much he would have done if he were still alive today. Another great one taken way too soon. Great job, Nick. Thanks!

  • thanks very much!

  • Excellent work, Nick. I believe it will certainly spawn new interest from younger generations. Thanks for helping to keep his memory alive...

  • thanks very much, those were some of my intentions when I made it.

  • Great work. My old band the Real Impossibles covered that song in 1984-5. There is a live video posted here on Youtube. I got turned on to this amazing artist around 1983 when I worked at the Rhino Records label and we did some re-issues. I met Bob Keane several times. He would walk into the label with boxes of BFF and Ritche V records.

  • GREAT VIDEO-- I am from cental El Paso, it was a great place in the 60's & 70's. I haven't been back in 20 years. Bobby Fuller is the still the KING! NO question.HE WAS MURDERED.

  • Bobby also had a night club for awhile on Montana at the Chelmont strip mall. I was too young to go in but I would sit across the street and listen for hours. A few years later I did get in one time before it closed.

  • Thanks for teaching me a lot about Bobby Fuller in under 7 minutes. Well done!

  • thank you for your comment

  • Thanks for this informative look at the great Bobby Fuller. Straight ahead rebel rock...thanks!

  • Thanks I'm a big fan this was great.

  • Thanks!

  • First time I heard Bobby,I thought I was in a time warp..."I fought the Law" had been one of my favourite recordings since I'd bought "In Style with The Crickets" about 5yrs earlier.Bobby was a great musician...no overdubs,no gimmicks...just a heapful of good old West Texas Rock'n'Roll....thanks!

  • Sounds a little like Buddy Holly the "other" Texican

But he was much better looking,

    which matters in mass media.

He rocks straight ahead, unlike Buddy.

  • Fantastic job on research and presentation on a great musician and wonderfull group. The mystery is why he was associated with the mob at all,

  • Great Job on putting this together! I really like this.

    Bob

  • A great talent and a great loss.

His brother, on bass, really kicked ass too.

  • I grewup loving Bobby Fuller's style. He was instrumental to my musical development. He fascinated me with his geneous for rock and roll sound and style.

I knew, I too had to leave El Paso after he did. I knew EP would ever preserve that great music culture.

It was a sad day in July when BF was killed

    LOBOMAN, Cupertino, CA.

  • Great documentary! Does anyone in El Paso still remember these guys?

  • Finally!!! you did a great job on the research...Excellent!!! In the short time they were together they made history...It's wonderful to know there are REAL Bobby Fuller fans out there...Thank You !!!

  • Great job...they need to make a full movie about this man!

  • This was an excellent piece on a man who died way too early. I've been lucky enough to hear every recording (at least I think so) that Mr. Fuller recorded, which is great, except I wish there was more.......

  • wondeful rockumentary. his life story would make a great film a la La Bamba, since his death is shrouded in mystery.

  • awesome

  • A VERY nice job, Nick!

I wonder how you were able to obtain so many rare photographs of Fuller. Judging from the credits, my guess is that you came in contact with Randy Fuller and others who helped you out.

Fuller is/was one of those performers who you speculate what might have happened to his career had he lived. 'I Fought The Law/Love's Made A Fool Of You,' and a few others are SO good, you wonder if he would have 'changed with the times' or continued that same great style of music.

  • Hi John, thanks for leaving a comment. I found all the photos myself over the course of many months. The question you speculate on I've definitely thought about as well and really can't come to a solid conclusion either. I think he might've adapted a little but still would stay grounded in his rock sensiblities since he seemed to be such a purist about music he wanted to play. That's still a guess but at least we have what he did record in his life to enjoy. Thanks for a great comment, Nick.

  • Superb work, thank you for putting it together!

  • does anyone know what the name of the song played at 42-47 is? oh btw awesome video :D

  • thanks!

the song is saturday night by bobby fuller

  • ah yes thamks

  • This is incredible!?! Who made this!?! Man, they are a GENIUS!!!!

(Nah seriously! It's great! And I know all the effort that went into it, it paid off!)

    L.

    xxx

  • I really love watching this. I'm an old BF4 fan, fromway back when Bobby was still alive, and I think you do him justice, accurately and skillfully. Congratulations!

  • I'd like to add my kudos for this wonderful work! You packed a lot of information and artfully laid out the case for the musical genius and magic of Bobby Fuller. He deserves much more attention. And I'm sure you have a great career ahead of you too!

  • Top notch documentary...

Bobby Fuller was determined to keep the memory and dream of Buddy Holly alive by doing it his way. He was a true legend...

    Many thanks for the post...

  • Thanks very much, Nick. You get my five-star rating. This is an excellent production and very thoughtful and respectful. How're chances for this video being Part 1 of #? Bobby was a R&R innovator, both in style and in recording innovations. Most casual "oldies" fans think he/BF4 were one-hit wonders with IFTL, but he has an extensive discography of great covers and originals, some "live" productions. One can hear him progress from rockabilly to British invasion influenced work in his own style.

  • Loved the detail and cool movement of the edits...GREAT JOB matey!!

  • Great lil doc you've made here.

  • Very well done! Thanks.

  • Excellent! Thank you for the detailed research into a man who never was able to fulfill his potential due to his untimely and such a mysterious death.

  • Nick,

This is a fantastic documentary about the man who was truly Buddy Holly's son. Thank you.

  • EXCELLENT ~ I give you an "A" on your project!

    =0)

  • Nice to see - somebody needs to make a movie about this guy - real rock and roll on the sunset strip on the verge of the hippie days.

  • It will be a LONG time, before a film about him is made, that dares to point the finger at the icon who most likly ordered his death. He dared to date the wrong woman, with the wrong father,I've come, like many others to believe.

  • Jmen, Care to give any initials for the icon who is probably dead by now? Great rocdoc.

    Greetings from El Paso!

  • This is a really great documentary! It shows how Bobby Fuller became such a great musician - all he ever wanted to do was to play Rock n Roll! It's a real shame he was found dead at 23, but he's music shall be remebered!

  • no question, one of the best. Thanks for the mini documentary, very well done.

  • very well done. great job on this hero of Rock and Roll. Bobby had it all, such a tragedy .
