Some Americans, not all, do like to go out and test the limits of their body to take in as much food as they can without exploding. I've seen it...It usually happens on cruises and in Vegas, but pretty much any buffet is fair game. It's not my idea of a nice time either, but, it's just something people do here. I think they feel like they have to eat as much as possible to get their money's worth. It's the hygiene of buffets that really bothers me...

My mom takes us to buffets because she's cheap, though whenever I go out...well I don't really eat out often unless it's my mom taking us, I buy from regular restaurants. The thing that I don't get about the "all you can eat" aspect is that I simply can't eat what's put in front of me in a normal restaurant. Can anyone? Now that my dad gets a senior citizen discount, all he wants to do is go out to buffets. He got ridiculously excited over this new Chinese buffet that opened up and made me go with him. I thought it was the most disgusting restaurant experience of my life. People were cracking open piles of crab legs and snarfing them down and the whole place smelled like week-old seafood. there is no explanation. My friend will go into a buffet and eat 5 plates loaded full of food, and eat until he literally spews, from what he says. His mom tells me it's so, and I believe it lookin at him(a good 320 lbs or 145 kgs). I can't stand buffets, it's disgusting. It doesn't make sense, it never made sense, it's unsanitary, it's gluttonous, and it is by far the furthest thing from an enjoyable meal with flavor. and america wonders why it is so FAT!
