I love how Mitchell and Webb will start a sketch, and just when you think you know where it's going, it'll take a hard right and end up somewhere else entirely. At first you think that this is going about David being petty enough to hope his children will die, but suddenly it turns into a very meta-sketch about Rob and David disagreeing about writing sketches.
@willdry1 You can't really make such a bold generalisation about American's ability to appreciate, or as you put it - 'understand' this. Especially when your comment was spelt atrociously, and lacked any form of grammar.
Also, I wonder why Americans wouldn't understand this. One has to wonder about the logic at play there. I mean, I can envision that kind of comment on the Football, Football, Football sketch, sure. But on this? Weird.
@Ronaldo748 There's no logic to it. It's someone laboring under the lazy generalization that no American will ever understand, or be able to appreciate any comedy produced by the British.
@AimlessVanity The law is that everyone who lectures on youtube about grammar also makes grammatical errors within the text of their 'lecture'. Ending your first sentence with a preposition, for example.
@willdry1 Based on your grammar, it seems that you are not from a country where English is the primary spoken language. I find it encouraging that you're able to discern and appreciate the subtleties of British humor (This spelling gives away that I'm an American) despite the language barrier!
Personally, I find American humor is generally dumbed down to the lowest common denominator and British to be much more clever and entertaining. Just my opinion though.
I've seen you take vitamin c!!

"I'm not saying ALL the jokes have to be about children dying!"
Mitchell really is a man after my own heart.

@AimlessVanity I don't think you should attempt to talk about grammar when you misplaced the apostrophe in "Americans'". Just saying.
Ronaldo748 4 months ago
@Ronaldo748 I think a slight misplacement of the possessive apostrophe is a tad more forgivable than the comment I was referring to.

@AimlessVanity it is spelled, not spelt, but you didn't make a sweeping stereotype so it's ok :)

@MikeyPWhatAG Both 'spelled' and 'spelt' are perfectly acceptable in this day and age.

@jacksawild You actually think ending sentences with a preposition is a grammatical error?
