A good musician vocalist can bend his/her voice to give it that extra edge. In this case Beth bended her voice to sound more like robert Plant.

Well, believe what you want, but in my opinion, this has nothing to do with bending her voice and everything with a range of polyps on her vocal chords due to abuse: singing with force instead of technique and overusage. And this is not a case of Beth-bashing; I saw her in Paradiso Amsterdam 2004, which was an amazing concert, including WLL, but this version... I honestly fear for her future.

There's a whole stable of raspy voiced singers that are still kickin ass to this day, it's just one of those things you either have or don't and yes...SOMETIMES it's polyps and can be foreboding.

For a real spin on what is considered conventional wisdom do some research on Mike Patton and explain how he manages to hold it together after all he's done in his career.
