Saw Led Zeppelin way back, they did this song to perfection. I am blown away by Beth Harts version, and the bands excellent faithfulness to the instrumental side of it.
Great Rendition!!! Plant / Zep Is So freakin Hard To Pull Off!! Who Else But Beth Hart Could Pull This Off? She Is At Her Best Solo But, At Least Like This She Isnt Stuck Behind Her Piano.
Well, believe what you want, but in my opinion, this has nothing to do with bending her voice and everything with a range of polyps on her vocal chords due to abuse: singing with force instead of technique and overusage. And this is not a case of Beth-bashing; I saw her in Paradiso Amsterdam 2004, which was an amazing concert, including WLL, but this version... I honestly fear for her future.
LMAO, tell that to Steve Perry, Plant himself, Steven Tyler...hell I could go on.
Ryan Adams, Paul Westerberg anyone?
There's a whole stable of raspy voiced singers that are still kickin ass to this day, it's just one of those things you either have or don't and yes...SOMETIMES it's polyps and can be foreboding.
For a real spin on what is considered conventional wisdom do some research on Mike Patton and explain how he manages to hold it together after all he's done in his career.
You forgot to mention Lemmy. Are you serious? Maria Callas, when not dead, would probably still be singing under the shower at 93, but it's not an improvement on what it was before. Now do you get it?
@deardichotomy: liking or not liking it, that's indeed a matter of taste, but that was not the point I tried to made. By the way: did you have a chance to compare this version with the one on Live at Paradiso and if so: which one do you prefer?
Okay, while I have to disagree that this "out-Zeps" Led Zeppelin...that simply is NOT possible...Beth does the song justice. Her live act rocks, it's too bad she doesn't get more press.
GREAT COVER OF THIS SONG!!!! Beth Hart And Poe Are The Best Freakin' Artists EVER! This song is a perfect example of . "If you can't make it better when you cover it. Leave it alone!" Glad she did'nt leave this one alone. Amazing!
I'll give u every inch of my huge love!

@pkerdef8 I saw the Adam Lambert version it was very theatrical. Dont get me wrong he is a good singer, but Beth sings from the inside out.

I'm really shocked! What happened to that beautiful voice of hers?
fearnoevilexceptbush 2 years ago
A good musician vocalist can bend his/her voice to give it that extra edge. In this case Beth bended her voice to sound more like robert Plant.
Believe me, she didn't loose her beautiful voice.
This is just f**king amazimng

@fearnoevilexceptbush I don't know man, I'd rather listen to Beth like this than that pussy, soft, pop voice that eveyone does (including myself) :(
Ann Wilson of Heart, put that in ur juice box and suck it.
