Volvo please spend less time stuffing more turbos on it, and more time making the turning circle more like a CAR than a stretch limo, and then get rid of all the stupid unreliable 'try to be clever' expensive electrical gizmos, alarms and soforth, and how about even make the window switches on the drivers door actually reachable without having to be a contortionist!

@willdatsun1 Window switches on door? BAHAAHHAH. I agree with the electrical gadgets part. Every manufacturer needs to quit trying to put on more useless little gadgets and actually design a good car. Cars aren't about touch screens, voice commands, and electronic controls they are about handling with a good amount of HP/Torque.

It's because one piston is always up and another always down so it's the most balanced type of engine out. this is what I was told. i'm an apprentice mechanic.

a 5 cylinder engine use less fuel? it costs less to develop. perhaps... audis diesel engines dose not...

compare a german 6 cyl vs volvo 5 cyl.

@DanneZzZ a five cylinder sounds great and works better in terms of harmonics than a six. Also, you may not realize, but the rally winning Audi quattro used a five cylinder. :)

the volvo 6cyl just isn't as reliable as their 5 cylinder, not because the 6 cylinder is a bad engine, but because their 5 cylinder is absolutely AMAZING!

Yeah I've driven an S80 with the 2.4 5-cylinder diesel. They are pretty economical, if you pootle about town or sit in the slow lane on the motorway you get about 55mpg. But if you floor it everywhere at every opportunity then it comes down to about 25mpg. Still that's pretty good, I have to say the 5 cylinder at full chat sounded erm interesting (no not like a quattro) and was quite fast really.

Having said that I would never buy one because they are so utterly soul-destroyingly boring.
