@eilselyiu8 Tap water has chlorine which will kill moss , and frogs , most wild pets . The chlorine will evaporate out in 24 hours if its in a wide container /tray / bucket .Pour in the next day .Pet stores make products that remove chlorine instantly , called dechlor .Just ask at pet store costs $6 in small bottle .
@eilselyiu8 All reptiles and amphibians can transmit germs , always wash your hands . Some Newts and frogs have mild posin It wont hurt you unless you rub your hands near your mouth, eyes ,or nose or open cut . Bottom line wash fast after touching and dont itch or scratch or rub your face till them . Note the deadly posionous frogs are from the rain forests in S. America .
@eilselyiu8 On a side note : some toads have a halucigenetic secreation (instead of poison ) that makes would be predators high / halucinate and makes them stop biting them (evolutionary defense . Do you have to feed them when they have there tails or will they live off of the absorbed tail for a while!?! Hurry and reply please I currently have some right now!!! 6/17/2011
hey another thing i didnt write this on the other video because there was nomore space, anyway,at the aquarium 2 times they accidently had tadpoles and the first time they had one with lobsters and i bought him for 5 pesos.
and he died because he grew feet and drowned
and the second time it was with the live food and he was gonna be feed to the gar that hapened yesturday (imean saturday)he is small and black and has feet already but only backones.
We found hundreds of tadpoles stranded in a flood plain evaporating creek , then puddle , then gone . Even live fish where stranded .We made a video of the huge carp we caught .Look up Ohio fish or little miami fish to see it .
A new frog wont eat after losing its tail . Its digestive tract is changing over from eat soft food to eating hard bugs .The tail absorption is enough to help them for a few days . Sounds like your frogs didnt hve enough variety or fattening up on good food as tadpoles . What are you trying to feed them now ? it has to be alive and smaller than its mouth.
my tadpoles lose their tail and are immeadiatly scary skinny...some made it through to good looking sizes but some just dont eat and wither away and die:( any advice? thank you
i have currently rescued about 100 tadpoles and captured another hundred from this dried up area around my lake. i put some in my fish tank. is the water ok if its about 80 degrees?

My tadpoles just turned into frogs about a week ago.. I've been searching for food everyday. I usually feed them tiny crickets, and ants...But how many bugs should I put in there?
Hey, great videos - very informative. I have a question for you. A frog laid its eggs in my pond, so I separated them into a large container and kept it shaded, and kept the tadpoles fed etc. A few of them have recently lost their tails and have the appearance of a fully 'developed' frog, although they're still about the size of my fingernail. I have been releasing them gradually into my pond, but today when I released one a goldfish got excited and ate it!
...My question is: How do you release the frogs/froglets into a pond safely? Do you think I need to wait a bit longer? I've had the tadpoles for over 3 months now. Thanks
Okay. .um what if you have tadpoles, they grow up into whatever (frogs OR toads) and what if they have babies. .? Won't you be overrun by frog/toad babies? xD;
@PandaChan164 If you dont want the babies get only females in the tank (males sing more) . You cant tell sex so its 50/50 . Remove eggs and place in the wild if you dont want the hassle.
flyingscience, Thanks for posting this. I have some southern leopard tadpoles that are rapidly going through metamorphosis in the last week. I was having growing concern of feeding them now that they no longer have sub-terminal mouths and don't accept flake food or pellets. Thanks to you, I can easily feed them when they begin loosing their tails and walking on land. This is a subject that is rarely touched on - most info is only on tadpoles or adult frogs, not the froglets.. Thanks!
I purchased a bullfrog tadpole when I was younger and it died as it was growing legs and arms because I had forgot to put dechlorinator in the tank. Where did you get your tadpole?
It is so nice to see how loving and dedicated you are to those adorable frogs. Kudos to you! I just got 6 bullfrog tadpoles for my 500 gallon pond. I am new at this. I live near a creek as well. So I understand they will eventually find the creek on their own. Any tips?
@council123456789 yes tht is because they need to grow. They will come out of their eggs in about 11 days to 3 weeks. It depends on the temperature they are in.
Hey i am 11 and i have 2 large tree frogs myself and i love frogs and tree frogs to. you have a great setup for your frogs i learned alot from your vids thx

Part one of comment i have characters over the limit :/
PLEASE HELP!
i have a few questions to ask you
i have alot of tadys about 100 & they all are in a contanier :/ sorta small bt most of them have back legs but when they get there front legs i move them to another container with 2 stones and just water which is about 1 inch deep
Baby frogs / toads need very small food.Frogs need a large tank land and water stream or mister .Research this first a small tank wont do .Read all my past comments .
Oh and another thing you could do to get the flies in the tank without risking killing them is put them in the fridge for excalty 3 mins. They immoblize and come back to normal after a while. I admit, it doesn't stop them frog flying, but it makes them easy pry for a while and it doesn't risk killing any. And I read that frogs enjoy catching the flies by themselfs. It's good excersize. Just sayin! =)
i just taken some frog spawn out of my pond today and put it into a beep wide tray/ bucket.. because if i dont take them out, then the fish will eat them all, i love watching them change into tadpoles and then into tiny little frogs <3 lol some of my frogspawn has started to go the wiggly shape inside the gelly, still in early stages !! :D
The funnel trick is risky in arizona, and other deserty areas. I found a giant centipede in the cup, dont know why he didnt crawl out, but he scared me to death. Was like 9 inches+
i've never raised tadpoles so I was just curious, how long does it take for them to go from tadpole to frog assuming the conditions are good and they don't stunt?
hey can you please explain the idea with the light and the paper funnel and the cup to me again i didnt quite under stand how it worked. comment my page or something though so i get notified when you do it otherwise i will forget about it thanks
Bull frogs eat a lot ! Order crickets by mail .That wont work during the winter though (freeze and die). Start stocking crickets and raise them in basement .
lol, i'm in los angeles, so i dont know what 'freeze' is, ... but thanx! im using your method of netting little bugs from the grass. now i'm pretty much waiting to see if he eats. soooo cute!
Some species may have color diffrences or anatomy clues .Most cant be determined easily .Note the pet store employees cant tell at all .Look up the species.
Found at spillway creek.Frogs/toads lay in any body of water preferable natural and big-even swimming pool covers(kike ponds better)!Read all past comments for construction info.
Treefrog tadpoles usualy under inch and half .Any bugs will sufice feed them food first so they will give vitamins 2 your pet.Mail order crickets are very cheap !
funny, my tads werent that much trouble, they were whites tree frogs, i still have two of the frogs, the rest were released into our garden pond. It is also very simple and cheap, to simply buy the insects, i bought several hundred "pinhead" sized creckets for $5 (australian) which is a good alternative for people living in the city
hello im raising bullfrog tadpoles they are about 6 inches long and they have sprouted legs already the legs are really big probably about 3/4 as big as there tail when should i move them out of the aquarium??
ihave caught 2 tadpoles, and i have put them in a pickle jar with filtered water. I have put ntoing in the jar. I have been feed them bottom feeder food, and i cleaned the water every 2 days. Do i need a bigger jar and maybe some rocks or sand? IS the food i feed them ok? I have hhad these for a week. Tell me if i am doing something wrong.
Do you know what kind of frogs are the ones that you find in lakes and ponds in warm places like florida? They are just grayish brown with spots on the back. I would say they are gray tree frogs but they cannot climb straight up the glass.
hey where in ohio cuz i live in hilliard and i found a frog with about 6 red spots on its bak and the rest of its body is olive green, i also found tads that wer blak near where i found the frog.
hi i have 15 or 20 tadpoles in a 10 gallon tank. i feed them fish food and baby water-animals food (that i baught at a pet store) they live in the water out of the pond that i got them from and are starting to show signs of getting legs. i feed them everyday and they live with 3 snails and lots of water bugs. will they eat the water bugs when they are frogs? right now it is a 3/4 water 1/4 land kind of thing with a rock in the middle. is this good? am i doing anything wrong? please help, thanks
sounds Ok but you will need to change that water about every 4-6 days ? Suck yucky water up with siphon, replenish with aged water only , no chlorine.
Start raising fruit flies now ! Get baby food jar squish bananas in bottom , let sit outside for 3 days , let fruit flies lay eggs .Put paper towl and rubber band as lid (breathable).
Worms will hatch in bannas turn to flies in 10 days ? Pour 6-10 in another new jar 7-9 new jars .Each jar will yield 50+ flies in 10 more days ? read about raising fruit flies -easy !
how long does it take for them to become frogs? i just caught 3 so i need some help! and when they become frogs can u hold them? im going to make a video of them soon and tell me what im doing wrong.
I found that the frogs will eat my aquarium blood worms and my hermit crab food. I have never seen them eat it the I am almost positive that the amount I put is much smaller now than it was before. I hope all of them find it.(it's in one corner of the tank.)
how long does it take fot tadpoles to frogs i need imdoing breeding ratio for mi science ppordject cand u help please mate p.m me or speak on this chat thing and have you got msn i find ur vids very interesting what frogs have you got t.b m8
You make catching those bugs look much easier than it is for me. I put a banana out in my backyard in a container and a huge Iguana came out of the lake and ate it. I took my fish net and rubbed it along the grass and I couldn't see anything but dirt. I scared that if I don't find food soon, my frogs will starve. They are very little, about the size of yours. I will try other methods.
there is other things to feed them, you know! there are frog pellets or you can feed them fish food or any kind of insect! a better way to find info for your frogs is to google it!
You are extremely helpful! I just waited 4weeks for my tadpole to arrive since I live in NJ and they are hard to get. I believe my tadpole will become a leopard frog. I was hoping for a green tree frog since I love their appearance. Any tips for a new tadpole owner?
I recently caught a bunch of little pacific tree frogs in the first tadpole stage from a puddle in the woods by my house. Im a little worried about what to do with them when they reach there second to last stage. We have a small terarium about half a foot long that we filled up about an inch and a half. We just used the water we found them in and we put algae in to feed on. Any sudgestions.
Are you saying they have the back legs but not the front? If so get them in the shallow water when the front legs appear.Have more than 1 food source .
i have two tadpoles which i caught from a pond, how to i identify them? your videos are very helpful thank-you :)

Just sayin! =)

ColorProduction 3 years ago
Depends on species and how old they are when caught .The other variable is time of year.6 weeks to 3-6 months.Read up on each species description.
flyingscience 3 years ago
hey can you please explain the idea with the light and the paper funnel and the cup to me again i didnt quite under stand how it worked. comment my page or something though so i get notified when you do it otherwise i will forget about it thanks

U say that the body absorbs its tail, but U also say the tail will drop in 30 hours. Does it lose or drop its tail?
jianchen0628 3 years ago
The Tail is reabsorbed , lizards drop / break off tails if caught , but not frogs .

great videos! i have a bullfrog tadpole, who just grew his arms lastnite, and i needed to know what the next step was! thanx!
wickedsmilee 3 years ago
Bull frogs eat a lot ! Order crickets by mail .That wont work during the winter though (freeze and die). Start stocking crickets and raise them in basement .
flyingscience 3 years ago
lol, i'm in los angeles, so i dont know what 'freeze' is, ... but thanx! im using your method of netting little bugs from the grass. now i'm pretty much waiting to see if he eats. soooo cute!

got frogs how can u tell if boy or girl?
BusterAndGreyce 3 years ago
Some species may have color diffrences or anatomy clues .Most cant be determined easily .Note the pet store employees cant tell at all .Look up the species.
flyingscience 3 years ago
You could ask a naturalist .I dont know .If you find outa formula write back .

flyingscience 3 years ago
few questions to ask you :(answer every question, please, and thank you very much.
what type of place did you find the treefrog tadpole?
if you just put out a bucket of water with soil on the bottom, will a frog lay eggs in it?
do treefrog tadpoles like streams or ponds better?
how do you make a half and half aquarium, and how much does it cost?
how big do treefrog tadpoles get?
are they black or brown?
i bought a green treefrog at a petstore. feed it garden bugs, or bought bugs?
Prehisplanet 3 years ago
Found at spillway creek.Frogs/toads lay in any body of water preferable natural and big-even swimming pool covers(kike ponds better)!Read all past comments for construction info.
flyingscience 3 years ago
Treefrog tadpoles usualy under inch and half .Any bugs will sufice feed them food first so they will give vitamins 2 your pet.Mail order crickets are very cheap !
flyingscience 3 years ago
sand is in the aquarium with water , water needs changing weekly or twice a week .Use siphon hose.
flyingscience 3 years ago
Dont feed them ants becasue ants have very powerfull jaws that will bite the frogs mouth/tounge.Unless your frogs are bigger than 2 inches or close .
flyingscience 3 years ago
did you keep the frog or let it go

cool we have tadpoles and froglings too
and i wonder where you got the tree frog from dog..
and plus can you make a BETTER video to know how to feed our froglings and tadpoles yo
jaydo623 3 years ago
Tree frog was found near woods in the wild.
I am not raising any more tadpoles this year it was a lot of work .Several ways are explained.
flyingscience 3 years ago
funny, my tads werent that much trouble, they were whites tree frogs, i still have two of the frogs, the rest were released into our garden pond. It is also very simple and cheap, to simply buy the insects, i bought several hundred "pinhead" sized creckets for $5 (australian) which is a good alternative for people living in the city
DarkDragonOfPride 3 years ago
Read all the back comments on all my frog videos for more info .Fruit flys , maggots , rock bugs , grass bugs , pin head crickets , all mentioned .

how long did it take the toads to turn from toad pole to toad
pranksta776 3 years ago
it can take weeks or moths depending on species. Also you dont know how old they are when you find them .Back legs means you have less than 2 weeks .
flyingscience 3 years ago
hello im raising bullfrog tadpoles they are about 6 inches long and they have sprouted legs already the legs are really big probably about 3/4 as big as there tail when should i move them out of the aquarium??

Do you know what kind of frogs are the ones that you find in lakes and ponds in warm places like florida? They are just grayish brown with spots on the back. I would say they are gray tree frogs but they cannot climb straight up the glass.
quaqa88 3 years ago
Your species differ than mine in Ohio .Look up Floridia frog species. If they cant climb glass they may not be tree frogs ?
flyingscience 3 years ago
I don't know what kind they are but I want to know.
quaqa88 3 years ago
hey where in ohio cuz i live in hilliard and i found a frog with about 6 red spots on its bak and the rest of its body is olive green, i also found tads that wer blak near where i found the frog.

hi i have 15 or 20 tadpoles in a 10 gallon tank. i feed them fish food and baby water-animals food (that i baught at a pet store) they live in the water out of the pond that i got them from and are starting to show signs of getting legs. i feed them everyday and they live with 3 snails and lots of water bugs. will they eat the water bugs when they are frogs? right now it is a 3/4 water 1/4 land kind of thing with a rock in the middle. is this good? am i doing anything wrong? please help, thanks
susbrain 3 years ago
sounds Ok but you will need to change that water about every 4-6 days ? Suck yucky water up with siphon, replenish with aged water only , no chlorine.
flyingscience 3 years ago
Convert to 3/4 land when most are frogs .You will probably have to let half go as soon as they are frogs .20 frogs is a lot to feed!
flyingscience 3 years ago
Start raising fruit flies now ! Get baby food jar squish bananas in bottom , let sit outside for 3 days , let fruit flies lay eggs .Put paper towl and rubber band as lid (breathable).
flyingscience 3 years ago
Worms will hatch in bannas turn to flies in 10 days ? Pour 6-10 in another new jar 7-9 new jars .Each jar will yield 50+ flies in 10 more days ? read about raising fruit flies -easy !
flyingscience 3 years ago
You can also order pinhead crickets by mail , cheaper by mail than pet stores .
flyingscience 3 years ago
how long does it take for them to become frogs? i just caught 3 so i need some help! and when they become frogs can u hold them? im going to make a video of them soon and tell me what im doing wrong.
Terrificturtle 3 years ago
Shouldnt hold them , but if you do keep low to ground so they dont jump and hit ground so hard the break bones or organs .Use wet hands only .
flyingscience 3 years ago
thanks
Terrificturtle 3 years ago
I found that the frogs will eat my aquarium blood worms and my hermit crab food. I have never seen them eat it the I am almost positive that the amount I put is much smaller now than it was before. I hope all of them find it.(it's in one corner of the tank.)
quaqa88 3 years ago
how long does it take fot tadpoles to frogs i need imdoing breeding ratio for mi science ppordject cand u help please mate p.m me or speak on this chat thing and have you got msn i find ur vids very interesting what frogs have you got t.b m8
CHARDAN2 3 years ago
Chardan - The time it takes for tadpoles to change into frogs is usualy a few weeks to a few months .Depends on species and temputure and food .
flyingscience 3 years ago
How warm should it be inside the terrarium?
quaqa88 3 years ago
house temputure is fine.CArefull TERRARIUMS CAN COOK IN SUNLIGHT GETTING ABOVE A HUNDRED .
flyingscience 3 years ago
You make catching those bugs look much easier than it is for me. I put a banana out in my backyard in a container and a huge Iguana came out of the lake and ate it. I took my fish net and rubbed it along the grass and I couldn't see anything but dirt. I scared that if I don't find food soon, my frogs will starve. They are very little, about the size of yours. I will try other methods.
quaqa88 3 years ago
If you cant find any youll have to let them go to find food on their own soon .You can buy catalog fruit flies and raise them as food .
flyingscience 3 years ago
Igauna came out ? are you pullin my leg?
flyingscience 3 years ago
don't use ants they will bite and cut the tongue of frogs. If you use nail clippers to cut the jaws off the ants its OK .Weird - I know.
flyingscience 3 years ago
there is other things to feed them, you know! there are frog pellets or you can feed them fish food or any kind of insect! a better way to find info for your frogs is to google it!
alicsuskae 3 years ago
Also, how do you keep the insides of the terrarium humid and moist? (Can you do this without a misting product?)
quaqa88 3 years ago
Keep terrarium humid by putting a lid , even plastic wrap over it .The creek pump does wonders with a partial 3/4 lid .
flyingscience 3 years ago
where do you get that moss?
quaqa88 3 years ago
I just pick moss up at my local park .But I chnge it every 3-4 months . Partial Lid will help keep it moist essential .
flyingscience 3 years ago

Any sudgestions.
verfasd 4 years ago
Are you saying they have the back legs but not the front? If so get them in the shallow water when the front legs appear.Have more than 1 food source .
flyingscience 4 years ago
well I heard you cant use tap water. what do i use instead and how long do I boil the lettuce.
verfasd 4 years ago
Verfasd-You have to let tap water sit for 24 hours before you can use it .The Chlorine will evaporate out.
flyingscience 4 years ago
You can also put GENESIS drops into the water which basically instantly gets rid of the chlorine.
toadmann7 4 years ago
Boil the letuce about 15 or 20 minutes , untill soft enough to be slurped up with no teeth or jaws. They can pull and tug a little .
