@SpeakNoEvil123 haha shit! it kinda is! I remember when I first heard this song, that intro made me think about like if it triggered another song in my head or something..idk. Good catch though lol
This song is almost good as when Gang Starr released "The Momment of Truth" - "why do bad things happen to good people/ Seems that life is just a constant war between good and evil/" deep ass lyrics R.I.P. Guru
todays hip hop is trying so hard to keep up with whatever style or fad thats current....hip hop used to be about creativity and portraying real talent! ....radios, tvs, award shows are so damn predictable now, i hate it! ......watch the group "INRG - TAKE A PICTURE", revolutionizing the sound of good music!
notice at 2.17 there are stop signs and he cant go down that road..then, in the next shot, the signs are removed and a WHITE car drives off down the street and he is left standing there; helpless, with no opportunity or direction in his life.
Everything about this album is simply incredible btw.
@TheRyanMclaughlin really though? lol its a hiphop video. not reality.. sure the roots may be trying to portray reality for some. but hey! sure as hell looks like him.
anyways... classic group with another consistant album thats bound to be a classic eventually.
Malik B from The Roots should be on this album. This undun concept sounds like it comes from his mix tape called Street Assault. Also he had a concept single called "Mob Ties". I think it's on Itunes.
"Look, let he without sin LIVE, (breathe) without sin until then, I be doin', (pause) dirty jobs like swam men" ......NASTY Black Thought is just Nasty
Black Thought is without a doubt one of the top 6 hip-hop artists of all time. IMO, the list would go something like this: 1) GZA 2) Guru 3) Big L 4) Black Thought 5) One-Be-Lo 6) Nas.
Pretty sure Black Thought is the John Lennon of rap.
@infearandfaiith While I do appreciate the fact that One-Be-Lo is being mentioned in your list, I still think your TOP6 is way too cliche. GZA is a great lyricist (hint his moniker, the Genius), but he's not versatile enough to be TOP6. That monotonous flow and the questionable choice of beats got him where he is now. Off the radar. Not that fame has anything to do with talent.
@infearandfaiith Guru. A legend. But, let's be honest, he never were a remarkable lyricist. He got his legend status thanks to Primo. Big L's talent was unqestionable; crazy metaphors, multiple syllable rhymes and the amazing storytelling abilities. He actually might be one of the best. Black Thought - one of the best hands down. Nas? He's good but there are better rappers out there.
@koedak Well, first of all I appreicate you not being a dick and attempting to rip into me like most Youtube users do when they don't agree with your opinion.
But I like that list. Some of GZA's lyrics are fucking incredible (see Duel of the Iron Mic, 4th Chamber). I know his flow doesn't really change much, I do agree with you there, but I like his style.
@koedak And yea, Guru was put on the map thanks to Premo's incredible production but I think he still holds his own and a lot more. I can't think of too many other rappers that can top him. And all I have to say for Nas is Illmatic. Thats credit enough. Peace.
Wow, I can see myself falling in love with this album just like I did when Del tha Funkee Homosapien and Dan the Automator did Deltron 3030. I think it's time to take a trip to the store. :)
this is my favorite song of the track but the whole album is dope is hell I love this throw back sound its great and this is one of the few albums that make u feel that nostalgia from hip hop back in the day the mix is great it sounds awesome god bless you roots
@HERBALSMOKE1 If you love the rootz show your love by supporting their art. Or go back to the radio and listen to Lil wayne and all this bullshit rapp that's on the mainstream.
You know, I agree that the Grammy awards seem to be more about the popularity, but hell, these guys deserve it. And I would love to see them win. Part of what I like about the roots is that every one seems to just have love for them, Jay Z, Eminem, or even Lil Wayne. Every artist just shows a total respect towards the guys. I dont know about you, but i just think thats cool, especially in todays hip-hop scene.

@auhafezi
First off , this is not main-stream.
Secondly, the drums and melody are quality all around.
Thirdly, those who don't like rap but have roots on their mp3 player is because the talent is undeniable for a people with different tastes.
fourth, this hook is sweet..not only the tones and singing of it but the lyrics have a point that makes it even more nice.
fifth, you come off sounding smart with big words, but your whole argument against this song is real stupid and therefor misleading
