  • @SpeakNoEvil123 haha shit! it kinda is! I remember when I first heard this song, that intro made me think about like if it triggered another song in my head or something..idk. Good catch though lol

  • If I said The Roots were like the Pink Floyd to Hip-Hop, would that be an acceptable comparison?

  • @ElBrillante4 perfect.

  • brillant album as usual

  • Underated by the masses

  • close your eyes and hear the lyrics and the story will be painted in your imagination. Thats The Roots. Thats Hip Hop

  • This song is almost good as when Gang Starr released "The Momment of Truth" - "why do bad things happen to good people/ Seems that life is just a constant war between good and evil/" deep ass lyrics R.I.P. Guru

  • Favorite song off the album, favorite album of the year, you get the point.

  • EARGASM

  • Incredible shit

  • This is amazing.

  • Wait...why is this about 3 minutes shorter than the actual song?

  • the roots last two albums have been off the freekin chain, just incredible music.

  • todays hip hop is trying so hard to keep up with whatever style or fad thats current....hip hop used to be about creativity and portraying real talent! ....radios, tvs, award shows are so damn predictable now, i hate it! ......watch the group "INRG - TAKE A PICTURE", revolutionizing the sound of good music!

  • @jazzefingers Can you send me a link to something at chinashopmusic?

  • notice at 2.17 there are stop signs and he cant go down that road..then, in the next shot, the signs are removed and a WHITE car drives off down the street and he is left standing there; helpless, with no opportunity or direction in his life.

Everything about this album is simply incredible btw.

  • anyone else hear a slowed down sample of Wu-Tang's "Tearz" in this song?

  • La Haine reference.

  • dopest show i've ever been to last night in Boston! they didnt play tip the scale but I got Black Thought's towel!! framing that shitttt

  • @drahcirydoom thats a guy

  • @MrBeatzFactory Looks like a chick to me.

  • @gatman0 This isn't stuff to joke about. This is reality for some people and it's sad. I pray that there alright in the end.

  • @TheRyanMclaughlin lighten up

  • @TheRyanMclaughlin really though? lol its a hiphop video. not reality.. sure the roots may be trying to portray reality for some. but hey! sure as hell looks like him.

anyways... classic group with another consistant album thats bound to be a classic eventually.

  • 11 15 90 3days b4 my birth

  • Sample "After Laughter (Comes Tears)" by Wendy Rene.

  • Love the Roots..The Seed 2.0 is in my top five songs of all time...never get sick of it.

  • "Look, let he without sin LIVE, (breathe) without sin until then, I be doin', (pause) dirty jobs like swam men" ......NASTY Black Thought is just Nasty

  • yes hip-hop is back kids.

  • arguments about opinions make me laugh, this songs dope, too short though

  • @REVAMPtheindustry This isn't the entire song. It's 2 minutes longer on the album.

  • @infearandfaiith dope, im probably gonna check that out, thanks for the info

  • @REVAMPtheindustry no prawb

  • @REVAMPtheindustry its longer my friend this is just the video, the song is actually just over 4 minutes

  • wow this is great

  • this is way too good

  • Black Thought is without a doubt one of the top 6 hip-hop artists of all time. IMO, the list would go something like this: 1) GZA 2) Guru 3) Big L 4) Black Thought 5) One-Be-Lo 6) Nas.

Pretty sure Black Thought is the John Lennon of rap.

  • @infearandfaiith While I do appreciate the fact that One-Be-Lo is being mentioned in your list, I still think your TOP6 is way too cliche. GZA is a great lyricist (hint his moniker, the Genius), but he's not versatile enough to be TOP6. That monotonous flow and the questionable choice of beats got him where he is now. Off the radar. Not that fame has anything to do with talent.

  • @infearandfaiith Guru. A legend. But, let's be honest, he never were a remarkable lyricist. He got his legend status thanks to Primo. Big L's talent was unqestionable; crazy metaphors, multiple syllable rhymes and the amazing storytelling abilities. He actually might be one of the best. Black Thought - one of the best hands down. Nas? He's good but there are better rappers out there.

  • @koedak Well, first of all I appreicate you not being a dick and attempting to rip into me like most Youtube users do when they don't agree with your opinion.

But I like that list. Some of GZA's lyrics are fucking incredible (see Duel of the Iron Mic, 4th Chamber). I know his flow doesn't really change much, I do agree with you there, but I like his style.

  • @koedak And yea, Guru was put on the map thanks to Premo's incredible production but I think he still holds his own and a lot more. I can't think of too many other rappers that can top him. And all I have to say for Nas is Illmatic. Thats credit enough. Peace.

  • @infearandfaiith What about Masta Ace, Jadakiss, Guilty Simpson, Common, Sean Price, etc.?

  • @koedak To be 100% honest with you I've never listened to much masta ace, guilty simpson, sean price, or jadakiss. However I do love common.

  • 1:22 lil wayne and ray allen had a love child?

  • @beefcows LOL!

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, I can see myself falling in love with this album just like I did when Del tha Funkee Homosapien and Dan the Automator did Deltron 3030. I think it's time to take a trip to the store. :)

  • this is my favorite song of the track but the whole album is dope is hell I love this throw back sound its great and this is one of the few albums that make u feel that nostalgia from hip hop back in the day the mix is great it sounds awesome god bless you roots

  • You can sum this song up in one word: Poetry.

  • @FradiFradiFradiFradi yup... enough said :)

  • this shit is beautiful..

  • @mspearse88 Yes it is..Dude is talented and very underrated as an artist

  • Beautiful

  • Life is an interestingly frightening being!

  • I wish the album was longer... I hope their next album is 20 tracks and like 5 mins each song of beautiful lyrics and poetry.

  • Absolutely brilliant album!!!

  • I already torrented the album, but i'm still buying it tomorrow. I just wanted to have it on my ipod as soon as possible

  • undun will be the greatest rap album of 2011

  • short song but it's tight

  • just got this off mediafire...sorry cant afford it love the roots though

  • @HERBALSMOKE1 You can't afford like 10-20 bucks? Or even just a few for certain songs?

  • @HERBALSMOKE1 If you love the rootz show your love by supporting their art. Or go back to the radio and listen to Lil wayne and all this bullshit rapp that's on the mainstream.

  • i hope everybody is going to go buy this tomorrow!!!!!!

  • sounds like a wu-tang sample

  • 4 time nominees.... definitely should have won last year.

  • The best album I've heard in a while.

  • @BackPackDuder bootleggin is not cool bro...unless you got some promo copy you on the rob.... :(

  • When the beat drops it reminds me of Tearz by Wu Tang. Then it goes into its own thing of course.

  • awesome

  • The hooded dude is lil Romeo.. put money on it.

  • @clappriani looks alot like him\

  • This isn't just music. This is something that allows you to travel deeply into your soul and see who you truly are.

  • Picture me livin' life as if I'm some animal

that consumes his own dreams like I'm a cannibal.

    I won't accept failure. Unless it's mechanical.

But still the alcohol mixed with the botanical!

  • Beautiful

  • how the fuck dare y'all to even name weezy on a roots vid, wtf is wrong with yall!!

  • @ADR9494 trippin

  • the seed 2.0...love the roots

  • The Roots only get better. Black Thought is unstoppable.

  • If i had it my way, Lil Wayne in 20 years would be 2:01

  • Such a whack move to release videos with only one verse. Can't even get into it because right when you do it's over.

  • Hip Hop needs concept albums. Thanks to The Roots!

  • This is soo good! Thank you so much, The Roots, for making this music! It seriously resonates with my perception of life.

  • The roots enough said...

  • dammit i shouldnt have seen this video... because i want the album already D:<

  • I can't remember the last time I was this excited for an album.

  • I swear The Roots are the truth!

  • 0:30 - for those lovely drums

  • What Carrer ??!! MCRUBIX

  • Who would dislike this? Anyway, Make my and Tip the scale are homeruns.

  • cant wait to BUY the album!

  • Amazing.

  • I'm so psyched for this!!!!

  • 1:22 lil wayne after his career

  • i can only imagine how good this album will be!

  • !! LOVE !!

  • Can we get the full songs already? Is there going to be an extension of the video?

  • @DaanOFF321 Really? The last album was a classic IMO..The roots have never dropped a bad album...They always make quality music.......

  • You know, I agree that the Grammy awards seem to be more about the popularity, but hell, these guys deserve it. And I would love to see them win. Part of what I like about the roots is that every one seems to just have love for them, Jay Z, Eminem, or even Lil Wayne. Every artist just shows a total respect towards the guys. I dont know about you, but i just think thats cool, especially in todays hip-hop scene.

  • Is time travel gonna play into the story of Undun? I ask because of the cars in that last shot.

I mean, SOMEBODY was balling out of control to have those cars in 1990.

  • I was actually disappointed by their last album but this joint right here is going to be dope!!!

  • I’m a side of suicide Heads or Tails Some think life is living hell Some live life just living well I live life tryna tip the scale

     My Way

  • 60,000 views are probably from me.

  • i feel this album is gonna be like classic.......correction I KNOW

  • Lil Wayne in 20 years @ 1:20

  • @TheFFBrothers Haha that hilarious.

  • @TheFFBrothers wow. yup :-)

  • @TheFFBrothers naw, you can't be comparing him to a legend... that's miles davis.

  • @TheFFBrothers haha

  • @TheFFBrothers What do you mean in 20 years ?? He's already fuck-ugly looking and has a raspy sounding voice.

  • Haha, too true.

  • I don't speak english so well so I don't know wich words to use to explein what I feel listening to this.........just know that this song changed my life

  • @auhafezi

A good drummer plays crisp, if you listen to break-beats that are used in hip hop it's usually the ones that have the quality of sound not just the complex patterns.

  • @auhafezi

First off , this is not main-stream.

Secondly, the drums and melody are quality all around.

Thirdly, those who don't like rap but have roots on their mp3 player is because the talent is undeniable for a people with different tastes.

fourth, this hook is sweet..not only the tones and singing of it but the lyrics have a point that makes it even more nice.

fifth, you come off sounding smart with big words, but your whole argument against this song is real stupid and therefor misleading

  • Is that Lil Wayne at 1.22 ?

  • YES

  • Comment removed

  • @auhafezi Fuck offfffffffffffffffffffffffff go back to work.

  • @auhafezi they are still far from mainstream though, they just are more smooth

  • @auhafezi Where has the hook been heard before? Also its a concept album. They are doing scaled down productions in order to create a certain mood. This video with the music had a very powerful message. If you deny it that and say its hack, because you've heard everything then enjoy your god complex. The Roots body of work is over 20 years. Its okay if they want to try to make art and make money at the same time. Or at the very least introduce non hip hop listeners to their earlier works.

  • undun will be album of the year, make my and tip the scale are 2 of the best tracks this year

  • Genius

  • 464 people know their roots.

  • I love this track. Video is ill as well

  • @tehsuperepicpwnzor

    fucking recovery won a grammy?

god awful album, that only solidifies how worthless they are

  • Undun will be a classic, for sure !

  • The crime was suicide

  • I'm kinda thinking the story is of a kid who commited suicide ...idk I'm just thinking but I'm not sure

  • Amazing.

  • dope

  • Мой фаворит на данный момент!

  • Hip hop is being kept on life support

  • DOPE

  • The roots = The Rap!

  • This shit is proper!

  • great song... great lyrics.. but oh, sorry since it dont have asses shaking and a uptempo beat and some bullshit it will get over looked... and we screamed change in 2008 and gonna do it again in 2012... change goes both ways btw, better and worse...

  • They flipped "No Alibi" in this shit. Hell yea

  • Classic in the making #undun
