@wex898 Wakeboard boats have what is called an INBOARD MOTOR. The prop is way under the boat so there is no chance of you hitting it unless you get run over or you swim under it.

@MrJockstrap3 I never said you couldnt, but if you want to get better you should definitely ride behind a wakeboard boat. Bigger wake and the boats have a different shaped Hull on the bottom that produce the smooth ramp shaped wake. But i dont think ive seen anyone surf behind anything other than a wakeboard boat.

@wex898 nope, the propeller is under the center back of the boat therefor its 99% impossible to reach the propeller from behind the boat when its in motion.

A skimboard could work if you put a fin(s) on it. You technically can ride without fins but it's dam near impossible. Also, skims aren't designed for flotation so you'd likely have a hell of a time staying on the wave.

Does anyone know what surfboards best suit this type of surfing. (length width, rocker). Looking at this vid, the surfboard looks almost as thin as a skimboard. I'm keen to try this out with my mini mal but not sure if that's the way to go.

wakesurfing would be an excellent tool for learning how to surf and doing tricks...although actual surfing involves so much more like, paddling, reading the waves, meteorology , topography, etc.
