you guys are idiots kg is not saying anything about comparisons, nobody is, he is just telling a story ffs. stop taking away the talents of other ball players by comparing to mj all the time its fucking ridiculous.
wtf is this? kg cmon i know you are great player but their is no comparison from you to mj. watch his commercial mj vs mj. he schooled the young one. imagine that. you reach i teach
KG and MJ 1v1. KG would just keep dunking over MJ and MJ would just keep dunking over KG. Idk how 1v1 would prove who's better. There's an obvious height, speed, position, etc difference... MJ is the greatest of all time and KG is top 15 and top 5 PF.
is guys seriously comparing the great michael jordan to Kevin Garnett? dont get me wrong KG is my favourite player of all time but on a 1v1 MJ would destroy KG. KG is a top 15-30 player of all time but MJ is the greatest of all time.
Damn. KG must've been like 23 years old here. I rember a few years ago when he was the best in the league (From like '04-'07). Watching him play on the T'Wolves was great. I'm a Knicks fan but I always got excited when the Wolves were on TV.
Kevin Garnett is no fool (most of the time, at least)... He would have NEVER accepted such a foolish offer to play 1-on-1 against easily the Greatest Of All Time. Jordan would've destroyed him by sheer force of WILL.
@hagekg i contest that. old pre-3rd retirement michael jordan would have had a good chance of beating today's garnett. just saying. maybe not 2000s garnett, but 2010 garnett. 40 year old mj could take him.
but that's just pointless debate anyway because 21 year old MJ would eat 21 year old garnett, no questions asked.
@Alverion thats because i guarantee that you have never seen garnett plays one on one which i had in an nba special tv programme he played against vince carter. AND also because you dont really understand the best way to play a one on one basketball. bottom line, at both of their prime, garnett will eat MJ alive in one on one. any forward who has the perimeter defense game and a solid in the paint game will eat any PG/SG in a one on one game.
@hagekg well, being able to beat vince carter one on one isn't exactly something to call home about. Vince Carter is one of the most physically gifted and mentally weak players in the NBA. The guy and his cousin are saps. Also, you're talking about this like it's rock/paper/scissors. Really? I don't really understand the best way to play one on one basketball? You make the assumption that Garnett can defend Jordan's fadeaway. Can Jordan defend Garnett? Absolutely.
@Alverion so the conclusion is no.1, you underestimate kevin garnett's prime time perimeter defense. no 2, you underestimate KG's offense with being able to score anywhere on the floor. no.3, you dont understand the reason i compare vince carter to MJ for their similarity in physical features and also their ability to shoot from outside. you could go and ask any basketball coach around your area the best small/power forward in the team against the best shooting guard and who would win in 1 on 1
@hagekg you're drawing an awful lot of conclusions there.
I'll draw one: you underestimate the fact that michael jordan is michael jordan.
the difference between vince carter and michael jordan is that vince carter is a pushover and michael jordan was the most gifted player of all time. I don't see how you think that a power forward can guard him one on one when they can barely guard him with four people to help. Like...how is that not computing for you?
@hagekg i feel like we're starting to argue whether in general power forwards can beat shooting guards one on one. if, in fact, that's what we're talking about, then I agree with you entirely! But we're not talking about that, we're talking about MJ versus the Big Ticket.
@Alverion so you are saying that on general forwards would win against guards in one on one. i regard mj as the greatest SG in the league so far but so do i feel that KG primetime is one of the best SF/PF in the league. the biased part about your argument is i feel that you are those ppl who regard MJ as GOD and he would even beat ppl in 1 against 5 just like in all ACTION MOVIES where the hero will never get injured against 1000 of enemies. you havent think of how MJ would guard KG in the paint
@Alverion without 3 sec in the key rule. dont forget that if you foul a player when he is driving to the rim there wont be free throws like in the game either. so best way MJ could score is only when he is on fire and hit all his fade away shots. that wont be necessary for garnett as he could score face to the basket below the rim. shit, you make me go all the way here to teach you like a kid. if only i could really face you in real life and show you practically....
@hagekg oh, sorry, i didn't realize I had a biased opinion. I mean, I guess the last two letters of your username have nothing to do with the fact that you ride kevin garnett, so I really do apologize.
@Alverion even if i luv KG i wouldnt say that he is the best 1 on 1 player. would KG beat bill russel or hakeem olajuwon in 1 on 1? no, i dont think so. but will bill russell be able to beat MJ in one on one? i dont think so too cause bill or any great centres wont have the speed to defend MJ in the perimeter. so this is just like a rock paper scissors game, and thats the beauty of basketball.
@youngcnyce if you think im smokin and you are glue/pussy sniffin then tell me theoritically how KG would not be able to defend any MJ's offensive move. if you have not watched most of KG's game from 99 to 03 (especially the year he plays as small forward) then you better keep your opnion to yourself and not send me a reply.
@youngcnyce i guess from this sentence of yours, we can already conclude who is the winner of the debate......i hope you dont represent NYC, disgraceful.....
@hagekg Prime MJ I think would be a bit too quick for KG out in the perimeter. Hoopsencyclopedia posted a game on YT with KG guarding MJ, though just highligts.
@uberathlete yes i agree with you, mj is definitely one of the fastest guards in his prime. if im KG, I would give two steps distance from myself and MJ outside. When he pop up for a jumper, i would use my HEIGHT ADVANTAGE and LONG REACH to try to hassle his shot. im sure no matter how good a shooter he is, he would definitely miss a jumper or two. then on offense, i would try to use my POWER, push him all the way to the post where my favorite position is and again HEIGHT ADVANTAGE to score...
@uberathlete im sure you would agree scoring inside is much easier than outside. thats the reason why most Hall of Famer PF and C always have a better FG % than any perimeter players.....MJ would only beat garnett in one on one if there is a 3 second rule in the key.
@hagekg i think your missing one key factor and that's michael's strength and athleticism. kg is tall, but jordan will just jump high to get his shot off, like he did with a late game shot over vlade divac vs the lakers in the finals, jordan played in a time where there was alottt of big men in the league, and his game was more of an inside game and they couldn't stop him, KG is great, and i love em cuz im a boston fan, but he would fall against jordan like everyone else has
@DramaSettersTV if this is your statement, then i take it as that you are seeing mj as a 7 foot 8 400 pound monster who can run as fast as cheetah as well, then what can i say ? so who blocks and push around more now in their entire career ? KG or MJ ? MJ shoot over big men, yeah right you are looking at highlights and forgetting about PERCENTAGE. unless his entire career FG has been 60 percent then i agree with you.
@hagekg no im talkin about 6 foot 6 jordan who shot 50 percent from the field his career and averaged 30 ppg his career and is the guard with the most blocks in the history of the NBA and dunked on almost every big man in his era, even jordan in his wizard years teams had to try a player from every position and couldnt stop him, garnett isnt any different, jordan would do to him what he did to everyone else, im not some punk that only knows jordans highlights, i actually study his game
@DramaSettersTV so i guess the part where youre missing is KG's stats in his golden years. its just so hard to discuss with ppl whos heavy on the other side.
you guys are idiots kg is not saying anything about comparisons, nobody is, he is just telling a story ffs. stop taking away the talents of other ball players by comparing to mj all the time its fucking ridiculous.
