  • Tony Clifton was Andy's best character

  • I need this place like I need a shotgun blast to the face. CLIFTON FTW

  • I was under the impression you couldn't tell Tony Clifton was really Andy Kaufman. I guess that wasn't true.

  • I want a husband like tony

  • My right speaker LOVES IT! (left, not so much)

  • Andy's Buddy Love.

  • JIM CARREYS CLIFTON IS WAAAAY BETTER!!!!!!!

  • @oiyabastard It was based off of a character Andy Kaufman created and wasn't very true to the nature of the "real" Tony Clifton, so how could it possibly be better?

  • @StephanieMarie1988 LISTEN TOOTS ! DIS IS TONY CLIFTON, BECK IN EIGHTY EIGHT WEN U WAS BERN, I WASE HAVIN SO MUCH FUN , I NEEDED 2 DICKS!. NOW WEN I SAY CARREYS VERSION A ME IZ BEDDS DEN DAT MEANS ITS BEDDA, THE BEST PART OF ANDY K RAN DOWN HIS FATHERS LEG!!!

  • This was from a comedy special also featuring Robin Williams and others.. Andy does two appearances as himself and an early embryonic (but hilarious!) Tony Clifton.

  • hmmmm thats realy not funny

  • hes so much better than how he was portrayed in man on the moon

  • The on-stage cigarettes killed him in the end... a shame

  • @JesseTheMindless Wow, great diagnosis, doctor.

  • well i mean EVERYONE in the audience knew this was andy.

  • Andrew Kaufman had a knack for making the audience more than just a little nervous.

  • this was the 1st time Andy performed as Tony, don't really believe the Man on the moon movie, cause thats mostly fiction. though Carrey was a good Andy Kaufman and the movie was good itself but it was mostly fiction...

  • friggen hilarious!!!

  • It's obviously Andy Kaufman imitating Tony Clifton the same way he impersonated Elvis.

  • Thanks for the Laughs and the riots you twisted fool

  • this was filmed at the improvisation in new york in 1977

    andy rules rip old friend

  • Wow, what a gem! I've never seen Andy at this "in between" stage of developing his Tony Clifton character! Thank you very much! Where was this shot?

  • What is this from? Was the performance just as Tony Clifton or was it part of a larger performance?

  • Is that his "impersonation" of Tony or his actual act as Tony?

  • this is Andy
