He's not using a Special X. The Special and Special X uses a different knob layout. Special and Special X are the same except X has quilt top. I have a Special X in Dragon's Blood. I like it, and the stock Rockfield SWVs are pretty damn good.

The stock Rockfield SWVs are good, and I see no reason to replace them, and if you're buying new pickups, they're a good cheaper alternative as well.
