  • watch here bit.ly\A3zQgW

  • I think the book is great, but I can't belive that her name is Fanny!

I start giggeling everytime they say her name! Silly but I can't help it :D

  • @Cisselala then you'll be amused to know that another movie, Brightstar, has its story happening at the same century and the name of the first character is Fanny too !

  • Damned aunt and cousins Fanny has!

  • 2:00 TRANSLATED

Edmund: Fanny Im probably going to fuck the crawford whore, can you give me the aye-okay?

  • Gosh that Mary Crawford.......can we say PROOOOOOOOOOOOOSTITUUUUUUUUTE

  • I want to slap Mrs. Norris so hard. She is so awful, cruel and two-faced. I hate this Henry Crawford. At least in the mini-series one, that Henry Crawford is at least appealing to look at. This one is ugly :/ Same with Blake Ritson. I think I prefer Johnny Lee Miller's Edmund better. But this Lady Bertram is wonderful and beautiful.

  • How could they possibly think that it was quite proper for young girls/women to show that much cleavage, especially when society was so conservative in general? They are not even at a ball or anything like that.

  • i hate fanny's regrowth!! I'm seriously struggling to pay attention to anything else... seriously. Why couldn't they fix it?! GRR

  • Never liked Mrs. Norris. Not it the books or either of the movie adaptions

  • "Now what have you done, Fanny?"

Ooooh, this made me mad! She didn't do a thing!

  • lame.... at least follow the book, a little.

  • done. this movie, is poorly directed, poorly scored, poorly written, poorly acted. i'm out.

  • edmund is soooooo boring

  • I haven't read the book, so I can't really get a good opinion of the movie, but this is a little off the mark for a Jane Austen. I do like Blake Ritson's portrayal though. A far cry from his role in Emma

  • Henry Crawford as a date rapist? Henry Crawford? I don't think so.

  • @lalala13nhc His charm seems a little desperate though. But, touche.

  • Blake Ritson, who plays Edmund is so much better in this than in Emma. He is so annoying in Emma, but I actually think he is kinda hot in this movie. I love his eyes!

  • @nessanoo693 I know right!! I agree with you completley (idk if i spelled that right :p) Anywho he's damn sexy in this

  • Crawford is such a skank.

  • I think it's funny that these people all act very high society, and as if they emit the essence of class; but then treat Fanny with such indignity, and disrespect. If anybody has class, it is most certainly Fanny. I'm glad she doesn't lower herself to her families level, in order to put on the phacod of being minutely important

  • Why is it so bad that they are acting? is it considered a poor people's thing, at least back then?

  • @1BubblesPPG that's for one, also it was considered imprudent . just the way "actors" were supposed to dress up, and show too much ankle, stuff like that...

  • @emsyduckie oh wow thanks!

  • @emsyduckie I think it wasn't so much that they were acting, because it wasn't uncommon for young people to put up a little play, but the play they've chosen isn't the most proper, considering that it includes professions of love, intimate touching, and Maria is engaged, after all. I guess if they'd been doing one of Shakespeare's tragedies Sir Thomas wouldn't have been so upset.

  • @Wilzo I completely agree :) but generally this time, acting was merely done by "urban" people which weren't from the nobility ... also, women were not supposed to act so much as well, most woman parts in operas for examples were sung by boys and everything. But sure, Shakespeare wouldn't have been so bad as this one for sure ;)

  • I do wish they would've done something with Fanny's hair!

  • If Henry Crawford was to be transported into today's day and age, I can safely assume that he would be a date rapist. Either that, or a Jersey Shore member.

  • @ShesFixingHerHair8 Or Russell Brand.

  • @eidothea Bwahaha!

  • @ShesFixingHerHair8 Hilarious!

  • @ShesFixingHerHair8 well he is todays total jerk

  • I rlly despise that Aunt norris.

  • Henry Crawford is such a creeper.

  • @clpearson991 "DO THE CREEP!" Bahahaha!

  • Mr. Rushworth takes so much crap in the movies and the novel. He's kind of an idiot but he's not all that bad, really, IMO.

  • Billie piper is so wrong for the role...

  • geez....Fanny, that's too much cleavage! ...and i'm sorry but she's definitely not the Fanny I was thinking of, haha.

  • @Ub3lBlatt I think that was the style back then. Like, it was just the standard for most dresses. Like today pockets on the booty is a standard for blue jeans. I agree that both mansfield movies the fanny has been not what i got from the book, but this one is mmuuuucch closer than 1999 fanny. i am sorry but 1999 version fanny gave off a ''i'm 30 '' vibe, not a ''i am young and innocent'' vibe. also 1999 fanny had a headstrong vibe. this fanny is better for me.

  • I've read Lovers' Vows and I think the Baron is the tyrannical father, not the Count like Mr. Rushworth says.

  • OH MY GOOODDDNNESSS THE AUNT!! can she be any more conceited and arrogant???!!!

  • Jane Austen was such a genius. Can't you see how much she was making fun of all these upper class idiots! All this drama over a play?! Ridiculous!

  • Wow nice save Mr. Crawford!

  • I like Mr. Rushworth much better than Henry Crawford.

  • I think Edmund is blatantly taking advantage of an opportunity to become closer to Mary onstage, using the excuse of common decency, although he may not be fully aware he's doing it, bless him.

And I love Fanny here, trying not to laugh at Rushworth's shot and trying to comfort her quietly, although I do feel so sorry for her when Edmund leaves with Mary and when Aunt Norris shoots her down. Bloody woman; you can see here, and in the novel, just why JK Rowling used the name for Filch's cat!

  • WHAT THE FUCK!!! THIS MOVIE IS ENGLISH!!! AMERICANS SHOULDN't BAN IT IN MY COUNTRY!!!

  • @Thearsenalkid you need to chill out.. and your language is a tiny bit on the rasist side. they area actors. you have english actors playing americans sometimes.

  • is it just me, or do Henry Crawford and Tom Bertram look REALLY similar? It takes me a few seconds to discover which is which! haha

  • man look at those boobs jutting out :)

  • Is Maria played by the same actress who played Nimueh in "Merlin"?

  • @Vandy2001 I think you are right.

  • @bubblescout324 Yes, you are both right. Michelle Ryan plays Nimueh in Merlin and Maria here - she really gets around, actually, she's got a lot of varied roles under her belt!

  • poor fanny.

  • I really wish they'd done some thing with Billies/Fannys hair it'd be nicer up like its suppose to be :|

  • Miss Crawford: When you do pray let me know which of you gentlemen I have the pleasure of making love with. *leaves*

    Edmund: O_O

Bahaha. I love his little "wtf?" face.

  • Heyley atwell as Miss Crawford was amazing. I want to have a lesbian affair with her. lol

  • Lol when the father comes in and discovers the play I can just imagine them all thinking "shit"

  • I just wanna slap Aunt Norris!

  • i think this is the one part that bothers me- she refuses to act several times and is never punished for it. Edmund speaks up on her behalf saying that she's the only one who acted rightly.

  • I hate that nasty aunt! what is her problem anyway!

  • love the 1999 version more

  • awww i love edmundXD that was the problem when he played mr elton...i just couldnt dislike him cause he´s so good looking:)

and i don´t know why nobody likes fanny...she´s quite pretty (ok her teeth a weird, but otherwise...and i liked her in Dr. Who as wellXD)

  • @Lilithly yeah i love billie piper. mainly because of doctor who. but hey.

  • hahahahahhahhahahah worst and sloppiest kiss ever

  • Why can't Fanny's hair be pulled up? The Aunt I'm assuming...is terrible to Fanny blaming her for what transpired between Maria and Henry.

  • Fanny's hair though, is quite modern, but if you remember in "Sense and Sensibility (Emma Thompson & Kate Winslet version)," because the Dashwoods are on the poor side, their hair was down or in a "messy bun/ponytail" formation quite often. As Fanny is the poor relation, I understand the direction taken in the subject of Miss Price's hair. It is reflective of other Jane Austen adaptations.

  • i'm trying to decide if i would really understand what was going on here if i hadn't read the book. they take liberties, but not horrible ones.

  • the father is just horrible... man a lot of these characters are annoying.

  • Fanny's Aunt, not Lady Bertram but the other Aunt, is getting on my last nerves. If it were possible, I would have jumped through my computer screen and smacked her right across her pompous face!

  • Oh my God, such a poor interpretation! Please, save your time and watch 1999 Mansfiels park, it's million times better!!!!!!!!!

  • fanny looks too tarty...urrrghhh

  • Why was there a problem with the copy right only for part 4? is it because they are talking about slavery in that part?

  • I can't understand why no one was bother by Billie Piper's VERY MODERN HAIR style and look.

She would probable fit better in "Lost in Austen" where she could look like this without being a distraction in watching the movie.

Through out all the movie I felt like she just step back in time 200 years and NOT like she was "part of that time".

Billie Parker was a bad choice for Fanny.

  • yeah.

    i quite like edmund though

  • I agree with you. The rest of the cast was very good and faitful to the period.

  • For those not aware, the Mrs. Norris character in Harry Potter (Filch's Cat), is named after Fanny's Aunt Norris. A most horrible woman.

  • Um is it just me cuz I can't find part 4. Cab any1 help?

  • I've sort of found part 4. For some reason it's been removed because of channel 4 copyright.

  • @lonesomelittlegirl Because if your writing in this comment section this is for the 2007 version your probably trying to find the 1999 one and they probably cut it out because of some improper word, or something to that effect. Censoring it.

  • honestly, I think this one was done a lot better than the 99 version.

Normally I hate the newer ones but the 99 version was NOTHING like the book.

  • I think this makes me an official Austen NERD, but...

Edmund from Mansfield Park (1999) was Jonny Lee Miller who plays Knightly in the new 2009 BBC adaptation of Emma (Amazing). Blake Ritson who plays Edmund in this Mansfield Park (2007) also stars in the new Emma as Mr Elton. It's a small Austen world.... Love it!! Thanks for posting!

  • An official BBC Austen nerd :)

  • I don't like how they've made it blatantly obvious that Fanny is in love with Edmund. I like the 1999 version for that reason!

But I love new, updated film versions of Jane Austen novels!

  • I agree so far the 1995 version is better, more interesting and better actors. I live the characters more in that version.

  • I LOVE the 1999 version... this is just.... lame

  • why do people focus so much on the ages of the actors? I thought the ability to embody the character was more important.

  • @CSL1 I pretty much agree with you but you also have to think about that the age of the actors makes their appearance more truthful which I think is very important. As you probably know the most of the characters are very young. Anyway. This movie doesn't seem to be much better than the one from 1983 (BBC production) although the other one is exactly like the book. Maybe the one from 1999 is the best adoption until now.

Nothing compares to Pride and Prejudice 1995 BBC production again! :)))

  • @CSL1

the actor should be at least the approx. age of the character

  • grr fanny's oldest aunt is mean old hag!!!!

  • @nani1591 Actually Fanny's oldest aunt is Lady Bertram, the middle sister was Mrs. Norris (the bitch) and the youngest was Fanny's mother.

  • why did the aunt blame fanny? o.O

  • because she hates her :[

  • I just realized ... Sir Thomas is Dr. Lydgate from Middlemarch

  • haha i think the boobs play into Fannie being the 'lower' relative

  • WOW. holy boobs. show enough cleavage? lol wow the main character looks EXACTLY like my best friend!

  • i like that for once in a jane austen adaptation, they cast actors of the right ages.

  • Why does the Aunt blame Fanny?

  • i guess i don't fully understand why sir thomas was so upset over the play. was the topic of the play too taboo for the time perhaps?

  • when they say lovers they dont mean married lovers... and that was so not allowed... and when she says make love, its close to literal

  • The play is quite romantic, not appropriate. Play scene itself was permitted but not common occupation

  • To torquaybeachbum - you know, I fully agree about billy piper - but I think it's her look that ruins the whole thing, though she's acting quite well!

  • eeeew - i don't like billy piper as fanny - she ruins the whole thing

  • true true,

i think she just doesnt fit... the 1999 version fanny was perfect, but the story line is very different from the book, but i still like the 1999 version better than the 2007 version

  • Ms. Crowford is definetely better here than in 1999 version - I think she's too old there.

  • edmond kinda looks like mr.darcy (matthew macfayden)

  • Yes a little bit...

But there's something about matthew macfaydens face... when he looks at elizabeth.... i can't explain it...

  • Edmunds character has pretty fantastic hair.

haha so irrelavent, but i couldn't ignore it :]

  • i couldnt agree more :) teehee

  • wow, the aunt is such a rude lady...how on earth is it fanny's fault for what maria and the guy were doing behind the curtain???

  • god yeah!!!

  • She was referring to 'upsetting' julia ( most of them are choosing to ignore what they saw)

  • but fanny didn't upset julia did she? I dont get it, why did she run away crying?

  • no but the sight of Mariah and Henry did. Julia liked him before she saw that.

  • she likes Mr. Crawford but she found out he's fooling around with her sister. The Aunt just blames everything on Fanny.

  • Aunt is such a cow!

  • @generationYkid couldn't agree more...:)

  • That's mean... it's bloody painful to sort teeth out I assure you

  • Right you are. My apologies. (;

  • Don't mess with The Piper!
