@nitramluap The reason I'm looking at 'bent vids is that after many years on a road bike I pick up my 1st ever recumbent tomorrow, a Bachetta Strada. Bring on the long trips....and the downhills. I'm already looking at the XT front fairing, but now I've seen your velomobile vids, hmmmmmm.
Crop it to just 4:40 - 9:20 and this would appear on Facebook pages around the world, bud. Truly inspirational, in a sort of "this could be the answer" sort of way. Thanks for posting such a good vid.
@camera2888 Thanks for the comment! Glad you liked it. I know what you mean but it was hard enough cutting 3 hours of footage down to 27 minutes as it was! :)
@curtish8892 I've not yet found a hill that I haven't been able to take the Mango up yet. If you know Brisbane I can get it up the steep part of Ivory Street beneath the Story Bridge - it's at least 20%, maybe more, I'm not entirely sure. I don't deliberately look for steep hills to conquer though!
As it is a tricycle you can, if you are struggling, just come to a complete stop and rest. Restarting is easy.
Don't forget, the gearing can always be customised to improve hill climbing ability.
@anim8ted923 ;) It's not that expensive, really, considering how much some folks spend on their road bikes and it is much cheaper than a second car - no fuel (other than a hearty meal), no registration, minimal maintenance, etc.
WOW ... That is a great vid, I never thought i was going to watch the whole lot, but i did and it was really interesting, Nice work on the editing and music . . . . . . . . . . . . but the bike is so cool i would love to have one of those
Great ride! great to see that you get some cool comments from your fellow riders. Laughed at how some of the course officials and police did not know what to make of you when you came rolling along with all the bikes!
@dregerclock Thanks Glenn! The police's reactions were quite amusing. I had some of them cheering me on but others were looking at me as though I'd just committed a crime! :-D
'safety frame' was a jibe at the French run UCI language describing upright triangle, when they introduced laws banning the 'Tricycle' from racing in the TDF in 1930s. English & Dutch were to fast on them. Safety frame is a contradiction, that was my dry humour : ) More cameras sounds great, I know a real film producer. This could get interesting.
I was referring to many people's desire for a comfortable upright bike (ie. dutch-style) but to achieve it they cobble together something instead of just buying a real one!
@ask412 Thanks for the comments - legs are definitely getting better. I'm glad you liked the film. I need more cameras! :)
I think the safety frames aren't really safety frames (like the old omafiets-style bike - I have one), rather they are MTB or 'hybrid' frames with the seat lowered to get a high handlebar 'upright' position. It almost never works properly as the geometry is different and they always are too low in the saddle. Bad for the knees as you say.
Excellent video, nice music selection, and it's good to see a written commentary. I was surprised by the lack of other recumbents though.

@carlpanther There probably were a few other recumbents but they started behind me... and they never caught up! ;)

I am enjoying your velo vids with comments etc.
I've sent the links to some cycling doctors in the RCH that may enthuse them.
In viewing the video quality from the video streams are you using the same camera and which one?
Rick.

@rickhark Cheers, Rick! The footage is shot with a small GoPro Hero HD camera. It's really very good and extremely versatile.

Just starting to investigate velomobiles and this video has made my interest level go up 10 fold. At the current time I have a Grasshopper recumbent.
Is there at any point of your riding that you have to get out and push as the hill is two steep for you? Due to the weight of the velomobile.

Camera work is improving, so are your legs.
Thanks for making the best Velo video yet, you've set a benchmark.
Changing camera direction works well.
Great average speed. ..... respect
Organisers should do a little explanation session an the importance of seat height on the safety frames, I bet there were some sore knees etc. etc.
At least they are out there though, they'll learn : )
Can we have more Mango SE video please?
