I really appreciate your maturity. You mentioned that you were younger when you had your interview with that adopting couple. When they said something you took strong objection to, you heard them out, considered what they said, and then did something remarkable. You asked a question. A lot of people would have flipped out and attacked. Then you even "know she did not mean to offend me". You made the right decision obviously in not accepting their adoption, but you are impressive. Great video!
Well, ya know, there may be biracial children in our future, so your thoughts are very valuable things to consider. I am not a man to think he has nothing more to learn. I want to do the right things. If there are to be children, I want them to be aware of who they are, their heritage, and what makes their lives rich. In order to do that, I have to recognize and adapt to my biases like anyone else. I want to be able to be a good father and be able to answer their questions wisely.
Thanks Nessa for posting this. You have touched on some points I hadn't thought of yet. Which helped start and interesting dialogue between my husband and myself. Keep posting!!!
@loveincreased So glad that I could help Michelle! That's exactly what I made the video for! Please share with anyone else that you think would like to see it! Stay in touch and let me know if you have any other questions.
Great video. I'm sure those considering intercultural or interracial adoption will find a lot of helpful information and anecdotes here to think about.
