I've been to Disney at least 4 times, and that's STILL my favorite ride. But, whenever I hear it, it makes me want to go back. And sad that I'm not already there. This song just SCREAMS Disney, even more than its other, more popular, attractions or blockbuster movies!
i went to the Carousel of Progress on my birthday and it was my first time to disney world as well. XD i was singled out and had to learn the song and sing it back. Then backwards.
I'm surprised Robert Sherman is able to jump and kick that high around 1:46 because his biography stated he had a serious leg and knee injury during WW II and needed to walk with the assistance of a cane in his later years.
I've always wished that I could have lived in this time. I'm not sure why but there is something about it that puts a smile on my face and calms my soul.
dude - you're the one who should learn your history. Do you really think B'nai Brith would have named him Man of the Year in 1955 if he were an anti-Semite? And for the record, Dick and Bob Sherman are Jewish. Do you think Disney is cryogenically frozen somewhere too?
@expelliarmusxxx one thing he definitely wasn't was a supporter of Hitler and the Nazis. Disney created various cartoons about the war including the famous "Der Fuerer's Face" which he won an academy award for. He was also a strong believer in the American Dream and America. During the early cold war he even testified against those he thought were communists in Hollywood.
Oh, ps, Walt Disney would hate today's company. EPCOT is good, but Celebration should be built once again! And, I don't know. I say this all the time. I would love to become the CEO of Disney (obviously I probably won't) just to follow Walt's ideas, and bring it back to it's former glory!
@jonathansrant I agree with you!!!! Disney's attitude has gone way out of control ever since walt disney passed away!!!!! Fortunately, Hannah Monnah has been cancelled, and to replace that, I wanna see them play reruns of the Mickey Mouse Club on Disney channel!!! (Those of you who don't know what the Mickey Mouse Club was, you're probly thinking that I'm talking about the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Playhouse Disney, well no I'm talking about the Mickey Mouse Club that aired in the 1950s)
Optimism resounds in that song. For those of us who see the potential. That we can devise an ever better world,so long as we are able to pursue the dream in a free market based society. In which an individual can invent, create and profit from the fruit of their efforts.
The antithesis to those who hate the very idea of American exceptionalism [and you know who you are]
Walt was brilliant at marketing. I mean that as an ultimate compliment from a business point of view. Having the dream is a necessary start, but not enough. One must be able to successfully market the dream to see reality. Love those GE logos on their backs!
It's amazing on what Walt Disney has crated. He has inspired many people from around the world. He crated theme parks in which-not only adults-but the whole family can enjoy. And to think, it was all crated by a mouse. R.I.P Walt Disney you are always missed, each and everyday.
One mans dream came to reality and changed the whole world. Walt if you were here today i expect you would be ashamed with what they have done to your amazing company. R.I.P you changed so many childrens lifes : )
tonizimala... will all due respect to the rest of the people viewing this ... you can go F***k youself! the sherman bros their music and walt disney represents a lot of whats good in the world.
The Sherman bros. were hacks. Walt was a right wing whack job megalomaniac, who went after the minds of children.
>>>"An infomercial for GE -- who at the time were dumping millions of pounds of carcinogenic PCBs into the Hudson River, which still make fishing and swimming there unadvisable. Walt was a fascist tool who used mafia to union bust and reported to his pal J. Edgar Hoover as communist his Hollywood adversaries. Disney consumerist crap exemplifies all that is wrong with America."
I wish Walt was still alive *Crys* If it wasnet for him there maybe wouldnt be any Disney or Disneyworld or Land :[ I wish I could meet him he was the best I hope he is happy where he is...
Why is it that everyone has to post politically-charged comments on these vintage Disney clips? Yes, Walt had some questionable political viewpoints, yes he smoked, and yes he touched the lives of generations of children and adults in a wonderful way. Lets just enjoy this clip for what it is... a nostalgic piece of Americana! If you don't like America or your pathetic childhood was lacking the innocent fun that Walt brought me, please don't take your anger out here.

..hey there, ambushofblacks (nice, sinister name you have!!)....how do you expect to be taken seriously, if you can't even spell, or use the correct words?... Oh, and you are a little bit out with the history lesson, by the way...seems that the poor old americans don't have a monopoly on ignorance after all!! LOL
ya their smart, exploit the worker and pay give shit pay to the labourers, thats some real democracy, or lets look at slaves and the great mind a founder had, they can be no founder of an already found land, stop leavin in your american tales cuz their only 400 years old....and masonery began in egypt by some very smart blacks but their were also athesist
Seems like a repetition from the other page.... shall I go on? Regurgitation of facts or figures(correct or not) does not indicate intelligence. Sorry. (go ahead and look it up)
What a crock, or should I say crack pipe... what have you been smoking? Funnier yet where do you get your info? Sounds like you are describing the jew.
There are black masons but none were involved in the beginning. Do a little homework. Masons believe in God.
It was with little warning, they pinned those on their backs after calling them into the room - and produced this on the first take! Not too bad - the Sherman Brothers were so amazing. Not to mention Walt.
Classic! Walt was the greatest! Disney was never the same after he died, but I bet he'd be turning in his grave if he saw the company today. It sorely lacks Walt's creative genius.
