PEADER’S BAR I love the place, I'm from the city and was in the Air Force for a number of years. I was forbidden to return home, that didn't stop me as I would put in a false leave address and return to the city , I was dying for a pint in a Derry pub and when the Gulf War 1 was over, I flew back from my base in Riyadh for a pint of the 'Black Stuff' in the town. I'm Polish, I was in DERRY two years ago. I went to see the city murals in FREE DERRY, went around Bogside and I'll never forget what the guy who was telling me about Bloody Sunday said. ONE IRELAND, FREE IRELAND!!! Respect to the Irish people from me!

The origin of the city's name is Doire Cholaimchile meaning: the oak forest of St Columcille. The Brits then changed it to Londonderry. It's now referred to as slash city: London/Derry
