Only someone like the "perfectly trustworthy" synthetic personalities from Young Zaphoid Plays it Safe would get away with murder. Which is why I would prefer a short film version of that story over a sequel any day given its simplicity/ makeability.

The thing i loved about the book was that it was this excellent satire on western philosophy, not to say that the movie ruined, rather affirmed it, but the general public doesn't quite "get it"

The movie was a little weak, because they cut too much from the book! And the only part in the movie that was actually funny was when Marvin spoke, but then, that it's always funny. Plus Ford and Zeephod are crapy as aliens. Liked better the actors for arthur and Trillian though!

@DRaKe6900 Mr. Adams always changed things for the different mediums and added stuff. He never believed a BOOK could be literally translated into a movie. I agree. This movie was great and the lack of more is a shame.

@DRaKe6900 exactly, and I wish more of the purists UNDERSTOOD that fact and looked at it as his last work and appreciate it for THAT instead of bashing it like it was somebody else cutting up his work, when Douglas was the one that cut it for the sake of the movie and other reasons he had.

Yes, in defense of the movie, Douglas Adams wrote it himself. And the book isn't even the original anyway, it was first a radio show. There is also a TV show and text based game version.

But yeah, the movie's story was good, but the acting could have been better.

The radio show, the movie, and the book are all different. Douglas Adams didn't base one off the other. He just had the idea and made up 3 versions of it.
