Well one things for sure that roger lost to a player who is a great champion but cares for the loser of every tournament he plays in thats why rafael Nadal deserved that grand slam title as much as Federer
you know, when I see this, it makes me understand even more why he cried when he lost that match.. I mean, he was in control. But Nadal was just spectacular.. Great match, and thanks for the upload :)
Rafa owns Fed H2H 15-7 Rafa could retire today and he'd be remembered as a better player then Federer. I don't care about Fed's stats because Rafa is 5 years younger and even when he was an 18yr kid he was already kicking Fed's ass. Oh yeah, Fed is great but he will never be the greatest of his generation!
@2kool4myskool Saying that Nadal is better than Fed because of head to head is like saying that Geller was a better chess player than Fischer. The list of accomplishments speaks for itself. a 315-24 record from 2004-2007? 23 straight Grand Slam semis? 10 straight Slam finals? As for the head to head, it's actually 14-7, and 12 of those matches were played on clay. Nadal is invincible on clay, and Federer is easily top 10 all time on that surface. Only time will tell if Nadal catches up.
@TJFederer15 yep, he was totally dominating this match before the fifth set : he won more points than Nadal in the whole match (including the fifth set) so imagine before.
I'm so frustrated when Federer loses against Nadal, because I often think he could've won : Federer put more points than Nadal in wimb08 final, AO09 final and Madrid10 final. That's why head to head doesn't mean much, Federer is the best ever...

@69wiwi69 lol. In tennis total points won does not mean a thing. What matters is what points you win. Nadal is able to lift his game to a level that no one can match in order to save break points. Nadal's achievements by age compared to to Federer's are much better. There is no need to get frustrated that Nadal is a better player than Federer in these moments of matches.
@mattcheetos lol I know that number of points aren't important. I didn't say federer deserved to win the matches he lost, I just said that their confrontations were very tight

@mousavsm im not saying that nadal isnt a good player he is good, but its well-known that federer was and still is more successful than nadal. fed is amazing nadal is good. fed played and worked hard on himself to win these 16 or 17 grand slams. nadal has 7 which isnt as much as fed. and it doesnt matter how fast nadal or fed got them what matters is how many grand slams were won. nadal is good but im not a huge fan.
@TheClassicbabe oh and btw, Federer is STILL number 1 and nadal is still number 2. i dont think that the rankings on tv during the wimbledon tournament is gonna lie about something like that. the ranking of each and every player playing is written between brackets right next to the players name. number 1 is written next to fed's name and number 2 is written next to nadal's.

@josoohs1 bunch of crap eh. Maybe you should watch these matches closer, Federer plays as much, if not more, defence than Nadal does. You just use your selective memory to side with your homeboy Roger. The point of tennis is beating the other guy, don't forget this. Rafa owns Roger and he's number 1 again, why don't you chomp on that! If you can't put the ball away, then you don't deserve the point, don't forget that. Maybe if you played tennis, you would know.
@mousavsm Wtf are you talking about? Rafa owns roger? LOL. Granted Nadal is winning on their match encounters. Not that this means much since the only surface nadal is winning in, is clay. Roger is all round the greatest tennis player thats ever lived & until Nadal reaches his grandslam count & titles number (he wont). He will still be that. Dont kid yourself. Nadal doesn't show a dominance in Tennis the way roger does.
@SSJ4Razor I guess you can't understand that Roger does well against everyone else on clay, but not Rafa. Also, on the other surfaces (all of them), they are pretty much even if i'm not mistaken. The last 4 times they've met in grand slam finals, Nadal has won them all, and those have been the 08 french, 08 wimbledon, 09 aussie, and 10 french, that's 4 in a row and on 3 DIFFERENT SURFACES. Nadal is only 24, don't forget this, at the same age, he has better numbers than federer..
@josoohs1 Are you just upset that I predicted a month ago (below) that Rafa would be number 1 soon again barring injury, and that he has done it? Rafa works quick i suppose, but he's heading into Wimbledon on a 4 tournament winning streak and the number 1 ranking, should be interesting to see if he can win it after missing it last year and not being able to defend his title.
What a crybaby. He beats all these guys and they never shed one tear, obviously they were pained inside. But when he starts losing, he starts crying. Get used to it Federer, if Rafa stays healthy he will own that number 1 ranking soon. If Rafa remained healthy last year, Federer would have never been ranked number 1 again.
@chrism216 , in terms of the number of major, yes he made history . but he lost to nadal in the final of 2 straight major and in his standard that is a lost , therefore he was a loser in 09 .
well if you look at the rankings at the end of 2009, federer had accumulated 1345 more points than nadal to finish the year ranked Nr 1. yes, that means that throughout the year, he was the best player, won more POINTS than anyone on the tour. you dont have to win slams to be Nr 1. ask safina she will tell you the same thing.
and Nr 1 in the ATP rankings actually means what it states: the bet player on tour.
@chrism216 , ah ranking doesn't accurately represent anything . it just means that they played more tennis and thus accumulated more points . fact is, nadal beat fed 2 in 2 grand slam final in 09 .
nadal and federer actually played the same amount of tournaments that year: 19. federer losing to nadal in in both slams actually means he won a lot more in the other tournaments, considering that the slams are worth a lot more points.
@chrism216 , they are rivals . i did not say nadal was the best . fed lost to nadal in every grand slam final they played especially in 09 where fed lost to him twice in a row which brought tears to fed .
hhhhmmm. this one doesn't make any sense at all. you probably mean 08. but in 09 - federer won the french open (beating soderling in straight sets) and wimbledon (beating andy roddick in a five set thriller). he only lost the aussie open to nadal and the us open to del potro. so I don't see any two defeats in a row from nadal at a grand slam.
guys here you have two UBERplayers, everytime they play it's like apocalypse; the are almost totally equal and it's fun to watch. don't care who's the better, just enjoy
FEDERER puto paquete que nadal te funde y aqui solo poneis videos que los puntos los gana federer poner videos que gane nadal y vereis como es mas espectaular xDDD Rafa the best
a good journalists (and former top tennis trainer) mentioned some very good advice for ferderer when meeting nadal (outside of gravel): going for it and having nothing to lose or to prove, fed should be much more offensive, attacking reluntlessly. Instead, federer is usually insecure against rafa, and a bit uncertain, and statistically stays almost all the time, far behind the baseline. Fed ought to look for the net consistenly, attacking through the middle, on rafa's feet. Sound's plausible.
I think that if you attack down the middle, the first volley becomes hard to execute based on tactics. If you have to pull your opponent off court with the first volley, it gives them a opportune chance to pass you right after. That's why the approach shot should pull players off of the court: so that the first volley can be effective.
But true. Fed does get tentative against Rafa. But it also makes sense that he does. It's easy to understand that Fed hates Nadal's forehand : (
totally agreed, totally. And fed shouldn't go for the middle all the time. But he could do it sometimes, at least more often than he regularly does. Especially the serve down the middle (body shot) is underestimated. I just feel he doesn't change his game up enough against rafa particularly. In the context of rafa, statistics show fed's attacking game is much more effective compared his baseline game. His problem is mental: he must take in more passing shots than with any other opponent.
but nothing, sampras relies on his serve and volley, and never made it to even 1 roland garros final, federer has made it to the last 4 roland garros final and won once, not to mention, federer is much more consistent on all surfaces in terms of grand slam. when you can pull out stat that says sampras made 7 wimbledon finals in a row, 6 US open fnals in a row 4 roland garros finals in a row, and 3/4 past AO finals, then...im sorry to say, federer is better than sampras
@Fourtain oh i wouldn't say this he improved the sport t a lot but at the moment ohter player rule the court like rafa, djokovic, murray, berdych, french and spanish plyer in general they are the future of tennis but no doubt federer that federer is one greatest in the game, still
I do not accept people saying federer was at his best at AO final against NAdal. He was so far from his best that i cant even believe that some people can say that. I dont think he will get to his best ever again at to his dominance in 2004-2007. In 2009 the best match he made was without a doubt QF US OPEN against soderling. In that match he played like before and it was pure magic. try to compare that match to this and then say he was at his best on AO09 final
@amesquitaPT, So your saying all this matches he have lost against Nadal he havent been playing on he´s best? camon dude dont be sucha fanatic fan.... federer whas playing very good maybe not at he´s best but he whas playing good but it whasent enough nadal playe better.
@DonChilenito I agree. Nadal is just a tough matchup for Federer just like Soderling is tough match up for Nadal. When they both are at their peak, I'll take Federer on grass and hard courts, and I'll take Nadal on clay. The main reason for the discrepancy in their head to head is that the majority of their matches have been played on clay where Nadal is 9 and 2 over Federer.
@amesquitaPT Federer played well from the baseline for most of the match in this final, but his serve let him down. He served only like 50%. Had he served better he would have won. Nadal also played better on the big points. Federer had no business losing that third set with all those break point chances he failed to capitalize on.
i cried when Fed. cried cuz i thought as he thought that Rafa. gonna win all champions...,but after i saw them both playing in final match in Madrid.,and Fed. won i said this is the come back of FEDEX!!!!!!!!!!!! Fed (15Grands) =)
@OfficialRogerFederer unfortunately no. 4 straight slam FINAL loses to Nadal would make one think that maybe Rafa (who is also number 1) rules the tennis world...I think the song is pretty fitting, this is Nadal's time.
All the Fed fans watch this video and they all can't stand to fact that there's somebody that has the balls to stand up to Fed..Rafa won RG and Wimbledon last year and when he gets injured Fed collected those 2 Grand Slams with ease this year, I think that says more about the rest of the men's field than it does about Roger..
that is the usuall reply from Nadal Fans, but though i don't doubt Rafa enormous mental abilities i think the rest of the guys have the the audacity to challenge Fed, yet only a few of them have the game that matches really well to Fed's game. usually Fed has all the answers, but with Rafa he has a big problem dealing with the powerfull topspin forhand to his backhand side. i still think he will have more chances to prove his superiority over Nadal, as he did in Madrid.
that was such a bullshit loss for Fed. he was obviously the better player, yet Nadal is the better competitor. i can't stand watching him lose to Rafa's ugly game. hope they will meet many more times - even at this year's USO, so Rog can improve that crummy H2H.
totally agree .. i still to this day dnt no how fed lost this he won more points hit more winners it was his serve dat kinda was hot n cold .. he should of won the 1st set 2 as he was 4-2 up im stil gutted about this loss but the win against rafa in madrid stil proves who the king of tennis is
Usually i dont like tennis videos with music... often crappy choices but this video is an exception to the rule. This song gives yu wings and makes yu feel yu're the one hanging the racquet in Rod Laver Arena

Karlovic proved that with a good serve, you can be a top 15 player.
Gasquet proved that with a good backhand, you can be a top 10 player.
Gonzalez showed that with a good forehand, you can be a top 5 player.
Nadal showed that with a determination, mentality and effort, you can be world number one.
Federer showed that by combining all these together, you become the GOAT.

2009 made federer the best player in history of tennis.
chrism216 2 years ago
@chrism216 , in terms of the number of major, yes he made history . but he lost to nadal in the final of 2 straight major and in his standard that is a lost , therefore he was a loser in 09 .
ladyboylizard 2 years ago
@ladyboylizard
well if you look at the rankings at the end of 2009, federer had accumulated 1345 more points than nadal to finish the year ranked Nr 1. yes, that means that throughout the year, he was the best player, won more POINTS than anyone on the tour. you dont have to win slams to be Nr 1. ask safina she will tell you the same thing.
and Nr 1 in the ATP rankings actually means what it states: the bet player on tour.
chrism216 2 years ago
@chrism216 , ah ranking doesn't accurately represent anything . it just means that they played more tennis and thus accumulated more points . fact is, nadal beat fed 2 in 2 grand slam final in 09 .
ladyboylizard 2 years ago
@ladyboylizard
nadal and federer actually played the same amount of tournaments that year: 19. federer losing to nadal in in both slams actually means he won a lot more in the other tournaments, considering that the slams are worth a lot more points.
chrism216 2 years ago
tennis isnt about nadal and federer you know... there are other players. nadal beating federer twice does not mean hes the best. by far...
chrism216 2 years ago
@chrism216 , they are rivals . i did not say nadal was the best . fed lost to nadal in every grand slam final they played especially in 09 where fed lost to him twice in a row which brought tears to fed .
i see you are a also swiss :)

hhhhmmm. this one doesn't make any sense at all. you probably mean 08. but in 09 - federer won the french open (beating soderling in straight sets) and wimbledon (beating andy roddick in a five set thriller). he only lost the aussie open to nadal and the us open to del potro. so I don't see any two defeats in a row from nadal at a grand slam.

a good journalists (and former top tennis trainer) mentioned some very good advice for ferderer when meeting nadal (outside of gravel): going for it and having nothing to lose or to prove, fed should be much more offensive, attacking reluntlessly. Instead, federer is usually insecure against rafa, and a bit uncertain, and statistically stays almost all the time, far behind the baseline. Fed ought to look for the net consistenly, attacking through the middle, on rafa's feet. Sound's plausible.
tiesthijsthejs 2 years ago
@tiesthijsthejs
It's easy to understand that Fed hates Nadal's forehand : (
JL6293 2 years ago
totally agreed, totally. His problem is mental: he must take in more passing shots than with any other opponent.
tiesthijsthejs 2 years ago
roger federer has everything you want in tennis, so he has much to lose, wouldn't you say?
kowalsky111 2 years ago

but..... really, shut the fuck up with you 'buts'. federe all the way. r u stupid... i m sorry, it just pisses me off
safintennis 2 years ago
but nothing, sampras relies on his serve and volley, and never made it to even 1 roland garros final, federer has made it to the last 4 roland garros final and won once, not to mention, federer is much more consistent on all surfaces in terms of grand slam. when you can pull out stat that says sampras made 7 wimbledon finals in a row, 6 US open fnals in a row 4 roland garros finals in a row, and 3/4 past AO finals, then...im sorry to say, federer is better than sampras

In that match he played like before and it was pure magic. try to compare that match to this and then say he was at his best on AO09 final
amesquitaPT 2 years ago
@amesquitaPT, So your saying all this matches he have lost against Nadal he havent been playing on he´s best? camon dude dont be sucha fanatic fan.... federer whas playing very good maybe not at he´s best but he whas playing good but it whasent enough nadal playe better.
DonChilenito 2 years ago
@DonChilenito I agree. Nadal is just a tough matchup for Federer just like Soderling is tough match up for Nadal. When they both are at their peak, I'll take Federer on grass and hard courts, and I'll take Nadal on clay. The main reason for the discrepancy in their head to head is that the majority of their matches have been played on clay where Nadal is 9 and 2 over Federer.
zdlore1985 2 years ago
I agree, Fed's best is above Nadal's and everyone else who's ever played's best. When Roger is at his best he is literally unbeatable.
Swordsman808 2 years ago
@amesquitaPT Federer played well from the baseline for most of the match in this final, but his serve let him down. He served only like 50%. Had he served better he would have won. Nadal also played better on the big points. Federer had no business losing that third set with all those break point chances he failed to capitalize on.

All the Fed fans watch this video and they all can't stand to fact that there's somebody that has the balls to stand up to Fed..Rafa won RG and Wimbledon last year and when he gets injured Fed collected those 2 Grand Slams with ease this year, I think that says more about the rest of the men's field than it does about Roger..
fredcp 2 years ago
that is the usuall reply from Nadal Fans, but though i don't doubt Rafa enormous mental abilities i think the rest of the guys have the the audacity to challenge Fed, yet only a few of them have the game that matches really well to Fed's game. usually Fed has all the answers, but with Rafa he has a big problem dealing with the powerfull topspin forhand to his backhand side. i still think he will have more chances to prove his superiority over Nadal, as he did in Madrid.
gihona7 2 years ago 2
that was such a bullshit loss for Fed. he was obviously the better player, yet Nadal is the better competitor. i can't stand watching him lose to Rafa's ugly game. hope they will meet many more times - even at this year's USO, so Rog can improve that crummy H2H.
gihona7 2 years ago 10
totally agree .. i still to this day dnt no how fed lost this he won more points hit more winners it was his serve dat kinda was hot n cold .. he should of won the 1st set 2 as he was 4-2 up im stil gutted about this loss but the win against rafa in madrid stil proves who the king of tennis is
