  • If that is still you, perhaps you wouldn't mind putting your head back on!

  • Half a Grape Fruit = 20.5 Calories. Sounds about right.

  • Lies!!

  • ;mao who would believe that

  • Coke may keep you thin....but Pepsi tastes better

  • @upunkpunk

    It's true! haha

  • @mrfrogbutt1- sounds like my wife's job description! Lol

  • still when the rumours of coke with cocaine was going around. sounds like the after math of coke products rumour was a profitable scam to sell more product. damn the man for screwing everything up for the working people, haha lol

  • back in the cocaine-coke days

  • Back when Coca-Cola had cocaine in it...

  • i laugh at this!

  • Actually bottles were much smaller back then, so yes an entire bottle of coke was around 150 calories at most. But all the sugar would just make you hungry.

  • Mmmmmmm..."...after all, it's made with pure food flavorings...."

  • Everyone was thin back then, because people actually went out and did stuff. No ps3, no xbox, no computer or internet. No flat screen tvs.. Yes people actually exercised.

  • @Choncy21 Especially women whom were forced to cook, clean, wash, run errands, please the man in bed, strive to look fabulous 365 days out of the yr while wearing pearl necklaces and heels.

  • @mrfrogbutt1 I was a kid in the 50s & nooobody's mom wore high heels & pears. And the only thing that "forced" Mom to cook & clean was necessity, which also "forced" Dad to go to the factory every day.

Mom thought being able to live a middle-class life on just 1 paycheck was heaven.

Talk to more real people about the 50's. Hollywood was as unrealistic then as now!!

btw women spend MORE on cosmetics & plastic surgery & have MORE pressured/unwanted sex than 50 years ago.

  • @mrfrogbutt1 LOL ......I meant "pearls" not "pears"......

At least at home during the day.

  • Coke also makes fat more fattening.

  • Comment removed

  • About a year ago I switched from Slim Fast to Mountain Dew. Lost 30 pounds in less than a month.

  • A real diet soda!

  • she's probably dead

  • pure cocaine pure cocaineeeeeee

  • when she said it i thought she might say mhmmm i love cocain:)

  • getting fat and losing your teeth.

  • Coke is good for you, it keeps you thin! Gotta love it.

  • Coke doesn't actually have many calories compared to many juices. The problem is that coke doesn't contain the nutrients that juices have. So essentially you're drinking carbonated sugar that doesn't have any health-benefits.

  • sugar high

  • wow I've never heard wholesome and coke in the same sentence. They could say anything they wanted to make their product look good. They even had doctors endorse cigarettes. Before the FDA came along you could say your product prevents disease, and baldness or anything!

  • Coca cola use to have actual coke in it hens the name. Thats why it made you thin and it was apparently extremely addicting

  • @insabeabc Yeah everyone knows that, and it was only in the late 19th to early 20th century that they had that.

  • She's not mentioning that it wrecks your teeth! LOL

  • In the Philippines we still have bottles.

  • @louvelle957

Because Philippine is a very small country they produce coke in there and use glass bottle. but in America we use plastic bottle because it's cheaper to produce and isn't heavy when you put it in the trucks.

  • Blatant False Advertising ! heh heh ! Coke ! funny stuff !

  • And so does dropping an ephedrine tablet in your morning coffee. It's the Jack Kerouac Weight Loss Program!

  • She's right, Coke 'does' keep you thin.

Oh, wait, she's talking about soda?!

  • THE COKE IS A LIE!

  • thanks for the information i will drink 5 times a day oikes it milk

  • No waistline with Coke? Wow, advertisers were ruthless. Thanks for the lies.

  • liar!!!! how much you got paid for that add

  • Well... they didn't have the same ingredients as they do today...

  • @MastaNinja yes they do......

  • @grahambbbbbbb Hahaha no they don't. For starters... we no longer put cocaine in coca cola.

  • cokes were called that cuz thay use to be a coke drug that testit good thats why people use to buy it alote and in the old commecels u can really only see adults

  • they still sell these little glass bottled cokes in walmart :D

  • if they only knew then what we know today about sodas Lol

  • The comments below are one of the most retarded things i've every seen...

  • Back then people were skinny because they had no good T.V or Internet so they would go out and dance, go to concerts and dance, and do outdoor activities so that made them skinny. Now you have Internet, T.V and fast food has grown to the point almost half of America is fat.

  • The cocaine made you skinny but wacky

  • it did keep u skinny back then since it had cocaine in it! So then they weren't lying

  • @cencity86 we have to get ths straight for everyone making comments about coca-cola and cocain. By the 1920s there was NO cocaine in coca-cola. Even when it did have cocaine it was miniscule, like 1/10,000th of a gram in it

  • And people wonder why America is fat x(

  • Remember in the early 70's when Coke introduced the 64 ounce crowd pleaser bottles,of course it meant you could drink more Coke. But yet you still didn't see the sudden ballooning of fat people like you do today. Is it because MFGs took out cane sugar, and loaded up products with cheaper HFCS. Or is it just that Americans are not exercising enough.

  • Cane sugar does not increase your appetite like high fructose corn syrup does. She was right.

  • that's why fast-food places that sell oversized portions of greasy food paired their product with coke, because of its ability to suppress appetite

  • i was really born in the wrong decade. if time travel was real…

  • A six ounce bottle is different from the big gulps that people suck on all day now. Americans are much more OBESE now than they were in the fabulous 50s.

  • ....what??

  • They sugar is bad for you but that's what Coke had in it in the 60s, so how come we didn't see a forest of fat asses like we do today. One word HFCS.

  • @bingobongo445 That is actually 4 words skippy! High Fructose Corn Syrup. But yes you are right - HFCS turns your appetite on and leaves it on so you eat more.

  • Natural? Healthy? Low-calorie?

    Is this Bizarro-World Coke?

  • @Ongarukat Nah, back then it was just like sugar cane, carbonated water, and caffeine

  • Notice how she talks to the mannequin after a couple sips. Now what does that tell you.

  • @freshair3451 haha its filled wil coke lool

  • @freshair3451 It tells us that we got trolled XD

  • evil!

  • She looks hesitant to drink both times. Is she worried she'll spill or does she not really like it?

  • Can i just have a RedBull, and a 5 hour energy drink

  • @vroomkittyvroom coke has not had cocaine in it since about 1920. Even when it did it was only about 1/10,000 a gram per 6 oz bottle

  • CRACK KEEPS YA THIN ALSO!

  • they were only tiny 6 oz bottles

  • @JxT1957 That's true in most places you could only find the tiny 6oz bottles. We use to get them at the gas station or the corner store, and for a kid that was more than enough.

  • Wow only but only 10 teaspoons of sugar!

  • coke did not, and no it never did have cocain in it, this was filmed in 1961, come on folks jump into reality.

  • @jamesappleridge Actually Coca Cola was originally sold as a revitalizing tonic made from the extracts of Coca leaves, and it did indeed contain cocaine. Nowadays they still use coca leaf extract, but they remove the cocaine from it so that it isn't against the law. In the 1800s cocaine was very readily available in many forms, and was even given to children to help with their toothaches.

  • @jamesappleridge it did have cocain. look it up.

  • @jamesappleridge Pemberton called for five oz. of coca leaf per gl. of syrup in 1891, Candler claimed his formula altered extensively from. Coca-Cola once contained an estimated nine milligrams of cocaine per glass. 1903 it was removed. 1904 Coke began using spent leaves — the leftovers of the cocaine extraction process with trace levels of cocaine.Coke now uses a cocaine-free coca leaf extract from a Stepan Company plant in NJ. do some research before you open you mouth!!

  • @nahpoli actually i will go with the offcial story from coke who owns the original formula which no one knows but them and the fda, and they say no cocain in coke, you can believe wikipedia if you must, but until the official history books change, i will believe what i want (cocain was was readily availible in th 19th century, you could by it anywhere) so unless you have seen the actual coke formula, then maybe keep your wikipedia i q mouth shut yourself?

  • @jamesappleridge They took it out in 1903, because of the push of the pure food and drug act.

  • Remember, it used to be made with cocaine lol which is why it kept you thin and awake

  • Nowadays, I rely on the OTHER kind of coke to keep me thin.

  • When coke came out at first it was made with cocaine. No wonder it kept her thin and awake ^.^

  • I seriously lol'd when she said "natural... wholesome"

  • i got my fat genes from my dad, I see pictures of my skinny mom at my age and she's a little twig drinking and eating things like coke, ice cream and mcdonalds. If there is a God, he fucking hates me...>.<

  • coca cola had coke in it back then, so of course they were all skinny :p

  • When I was young, I remember I heard my mom say one of her co-workers was on a diet, so she had a coke and a cigarette for lunch. But that was in the days before smoking caused cancer and even doctors recommended certain brands of cigarettes.

  • @alzorama hell, even the Flinstones were hawking cigs back in the '60s.......search "Flinstones Winston Cigarettes" and see for yourself!!

  • @citizenterryk Incredible, isn't it? We were so innocent back then...

  • Equivalent to half a grapefruit? Those tricky citrus salesmen!

  • Didn't Coke used to have COKE in it?! No wonder!

  • although there is one true thing abiut this commercial. once you drink one 160 calorie can of coke you no longer have the urges to pig out on fatty and sugary foods. Or atleast in my case

  • oh, yeah and dont forget the cocaine lady!!!

  • 50 years later, not even diet coke can help me to keep thin.

  • i'd rather have a grapefruit

  • Lie

  • @afad128 nono, its LIES! lol. You missed the omph in it, so I did it for you, lol

  • @mizcamaro yeah

  • keeps me up all night long my teeth are rotten but i look great in cheep clothes

  • That's where a gal belongs....home. Although there are a lot home now on unemployment

  • The people who made it didn't "put" Cocaine in, it was a by-product because one of the original ingredients was a Coca Leave, that's where the Coca part of Coca Cola comes from the other being a Cola Nut

  • Hmmmm......Coke keeps you thinner eh?......Well how come fat people drink diet coke......WELL?

  • @robjune14 Notice she's wearing an apron. Back then people worked harder cleaning the house, making beds, washing windows, doing yard work, operating the sewing machine, ironing, etc.... She probably worked more in a half a day then you've worked in a year. People that are fat today aren't fat because of fatty foods, the foods were even worse fifty years ago, they're fat because they're lazy. They don't do any house work or yard work, they're lazy at work.

  • Well, she is right. If you fill up on Coke you're less likely to eat food because you'll be full. The woman's clearly a visionary. Coke diet it is for everyone. It's just a shame they keep extracting the cocaine from it. :p

  • one of my moms friends weighed 90 pounds last we saw her... now... she weighs like 180 pounds! o-o

  • Burrrrrp

  • coca cola use to come in smaller servings then they do today. so she might not have been as off as you think she is when she says it has no more calories than half a grapefruit.

  • she's not lying.. they put cocaine in the pop back then.. did keep you thin :)

  • Bitch. Your a liar.

  • Simpler times

  • This is before all the food around you became CORN.

  • when I was a teenager back in the late 60s early 70s i lived on coca-cola, Lucky Strikes and pizza......I was rail thin till I was about 45 years old

  • @inkey2 That's when your metabolism finally gave up. =P

  • @Rietto no, what I used to do is just smoke Pall malls and lucky strikes, drink tons of coca cola and didn't eat much food, 3 slices of pizz the whole day......stayed up till about 2AM. didn't neet to really eat because I was so high on cafene and nicoteen

  • @inkey2 Getting old sucks, doesn't it? I'd give up all of today's technology in a second (even internet porn) to be back in the 70's.

  • @inkey2 because we stayed busy and danced etc. we went out and didn;t stay in the house all day

  • Coke keeps you healthy? I heard you can gain 10-12 pounds a year by drinking one can a day.

  • @MsFutureLautner I drank about 5 cans a day for 45 years and I was skinny as a stick until I was in my 40s. The key to it is that you substitute food for coke a cola.

  • @inkey2 oh okay

  • I bet she took Barbituates to keep herself thin back then, Just a jolt of caffeine is why she drank Coke.

  • Its hard to find glass bottle coca cola now a days.

  • @TheBrendaWenda

really? i see it all the time

  • She pretended to take a big gulp of it but check the level in the bottle before and after. It's still about the same!

  • Coke is *anything* but natural, sweetheart...

  • wtf im drinking coke right now!

  • Coke keeps you thin????? Wow! I'm gonna buy a dozen 2-liter bottles right now!!!!!!

  • i luv these 1950s commercials

  • @viceking31

    60s.

  • when she said coke is so satisfying it keeps me away from something else i laughed my ass off

  • also they had put a little bit of cocaine in it

  • they had calories back in 1961?

  • no more calories than a grapfruit.. LOL... of course that bottle is not the 16 or 24 ounce or 1 liter bottle we have now... if anything, its probably 6 ounce or 8 ounce... if that was all you drank, then yeah, you prolly would only get 'the same amount of calories as a grapefruit..."

  • @matman1490 I think they were 6 oz bottles back then

  • I can't believe she said coke got no more calories than half a grapefruit. It's like saying radioactive waste glows in the dark, so it's safe to consume, or buy coke because the sky is blue or something wtf...

  • b4 monsters

  • It's funny. In today's TV terms, this woman would be considered a fucking fatass.

  • Comment removed

  • wow

  • Oh, coke can keep you think, all right. Coca-Cola is a different story, though...

  • Coke keeps you thin...tell my cardiologist that, he needs a good laugh.

  • Pause it at exactly 0:05 or a fraction before. A bizarre picture is flashed on the screen for slightly less than 1 second. I have no idea what it's supposed to mean, why, or what is has to do with anything, it is very strange. If someone knows what it means can you please let me know?

  • @Xyconoyz yeah its a women on an elephant about to hit her head on a electric cable

  • @zepeterinma Yeah, that's what I thought I saw. Does anyone know what it means though? Or anything close to why that particular picture? How does a woman riding into power lines on the back of an elephant help their advertising? It just says danger & cruelty to animals basically to my head anyway. And weird danger at that. If it was a woman as naked as they could get away with then I could understand the sex sells thing, but circus sells just doesn't have the same ring to it.

  • @Xyconoyz Simple, it's the last shot of the program or commercial right before this one. Maybe the cut-to between commercials was more prompt back then.

  • @Xyconoyz it a man on a elephant i dont know what it is but i was able to pause and see the picture

  • Shit, I'd probably be 700 lbs if it weren't for those 5 Cokes a day regulating my weight at a comfortable 500 lbs.

  • Bullshit!

  • umm.....so everyone knows back then they put COKE in Coka-cola

......yea thats how it made you thin, wish we can change the name of coke to Nuka cola

  • Coke or coc? lol

  • The portion sizes were much smaller back then! Soda was more of a treat than a way of life. Big differences. I had a friend give up regular Coke recently and dropped 25 lbs without exercising... There is so much more knowledge now.

  • @Incadove51 Agreed. Plus, you have to consider how much more soft drinks are able to be produced thanks to cheap fillers like high fructose corn syrup, which is worse for you than regular sugar.

  • i think they meant cocaine keeps you thin.

  • i love vintage commercials

  • Her waistline in the skirt and blouse surely doesn't look like the dress waistline!

  • Coke makes you smarter too!

  • Back then, there as 'bite' to Coke. It was probably due to a healthy serving of phosphorus! Mmmm mmmhhh!

Coke does make me lose weight. No kidding. It has nothing to do with the sugar content. I think it has more to do with caffiene. It keeps me zooming around all day.

  • Oh! Forgot to tell you Folks that our grapefruit was genetically engineered and weighs 40 pounds. Yep, it took two gorilla types just to finish eating half of it. The other half was dried, ground up & sifted so we could measure the amount of sugar it contained... and to our amazement, a 6 and 1/2 ounce bottle of Coke just squeezed in under the wire! We believe it could cure diabetes too, but that has to be tested still!

  • @briquetaverne Funny! This comment made my day!

  • Look at the portion size in this ad.....small (as it should be). People today tend to drink those super size 32oz of coke with each meal, along with super size fries and a double or triple cheese burger~!

  • @popgems Popgems is right on the money here. If this was the largest coke you could buy and you only drank one a day, this commercial would be right on as well.

  • the other coke make you thin

  • @sexyhot5150 Diet Coke is even worse. Not better. It has aspartame in it.

  • The Coca Cola bottle has hardly changed, save for the logo which used to be embossed on the bottle but now it is printed with color red and white. I have an antique coke bottle retrieved from a sunken sea vessels in the 1940's which is very much the same as the current bottle.

  • @pedrocheal THAT'S SO COOL !

  • The principle ingredients were coca leaves and cola nuts, hence coca cola

  • Huh? Whaa-at?

  • This was when Coke was Coke. It was made with sugar and had a much better taste to it. It wasn't this high fructose corn syrup CRAP they use now as sweetener!

It depends on where you're located, but if you can get your hands on a Coke from Mexico (that comes in a glass bottle and made with sugar), it'll taste much better than the American version.

  • @02chevyguy OH YES, FOR SHURE! MUCH BETTER THAN THE COKE FROM AMERICA

  • Maybe the studio was putting amphetamines in her coke. Also servings of coke were much smaller back then, they did have 44 oz cups at the local 7-11 and a seemingly endless supply of the shit like they do know.
