  • I listen to your presentation of this great old tune frequently. I first heard it played by William Coulter as I have most of his recordings. Where are you located and do you ever do concerts? I sense you are a Christian by your selections and thought you might play at church some. Great music!

  • Mr Coulter is a wonderful artist! I live in central KY, I do play at my church and in some local venues. Thanks for your kind post and if you are ever coming this way know you have a friend here!

    peace,

    dale

  • très beau, wunderschön, very beautiful, opens up the heart - grand merci from Germany

    dale

  • You are an awesome guitarist! Very inspirational. Thank you for all of your posts! You make it look easy.

  • thanks for your kind post and giving your time to listen - hope this finds you well,

    dale

  • Wonder what this would sound like on a 12 string? The right guitar would sound awesome or not.Kinda hit & miss with 12 strings.

  • good question - maybe very nice. If i had one i'd give it a try - thanks for watching!

    dale

  • There is sheet music for this. Fingerstyle Guitar magazine had it a long time ago try ordering a back issue. This song is the most beautiful song I have ever heard, and this guy plays it extremely well. I use part of it as an intro to an original I wrote. The first time I heard this song I had tears. Thanks for sharing this with us!! I wish I could find my old copy of the music (I do not read well at all but I was able to use the CD and the music together to muster up the intro I use).

    Mike

  • thanks for the post Mike!

  • I have heard a local guitarist play this as a meditation at church. He was not sure of the name of the piece. Is there sheet music available for this? (I am a by-note player as opposed to a real musician.)

Thanks for your posting of this video.

  • hello and thanks for watching - i would love to hear this in church. I do not know about sheet music - hope this finds you well,

    dale

  • B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L

  • thanks so much for watching - all the best!

  • I love this melody, my experience of Celtic music is very limited but I've heard this played by William Coulter and your version is great. Since I started listening to the previously mentioned musician (my first listening experience from this style of music) I'm really caught. Being from Sweden, the drama in the music makes me nostalgic due to some similarity in the structure of the folk music from there.

  • thanks for taking time to give the video a listen - like yourself i was drawn to this melody from the first time i heard it. Celtic music does seem to have a unique charm about it and i like to devote more time to it as well. Thanks again, hope all is good,

    dale

  • Hi there! I've been looking for this music everywhere - do you know where I can find the tab? My husband and I play it but it's by ear with tinwhistle for melody. Here's hoping... :)

  • thanks for your very kind words and i really appreciate you watching and sharing about your music with me! All the best,

    dale

  • Nice guitar playing though. The Irish band Altan does a really nice version just guitar with the lead singer singing.

  • i would love to hear the vocal - really a special piece - and again thanks for taking your time to watch!

    best,

    dale

  • Where's the singing?

  • with my voice be thankful there is non! Sure appreciate you watching,

    dale

  • Anyone know where I can get a recording of this song as on this video...just on the guitar? I've found other versions, but none solely on guitar, which is what I would really like. This version is lovely and you play it beautifully tonedr. I'd like to use the song in my wedding mid-August if anyone can help me out.

  • i wish i could help - the only recording i've heard is William Coulters with all the instruments. Maybe someone will be able to help - i hope your wedding goes great!

    all the best,

    dale

  • I'm sure you could hire Dale to come and play it for you ;)

  • Altan does one with just guitar and singing.

  • wonderful playing, great tone, and great technique. this was a joy to listen to, and was masterfully done. the best of your best; and this is really saying something.

on a side note, I would like to see more emotion in your playing. for a moment there you actually look out the window. you almost looked bored. from your expressions, or lack of them, it amazes me that such a beautiful and haunting melody is created.

  • sure appreciate the kind words! Good suggestion and i appreciate it very much. You are right and it helps me to get feedback from other players! Thanks again,

    dale

  • "More emotion, looking out the window, bored!!!" Music is to be listened to...did you ever think the emotion is coming from the heart through the guitar. I only wish I could play that well looking out the window!

  • So nicely done, I play this exact version and learned a couple missing notes from your wonderful video. What other Coulter tunes do you play, I just starting taking lessons from Bill, incredible teacher & well rounded celtic musician and you did as good as anyone I have heard pull this off. Keep them coming my friend, Brian

  • Hello Brian, great to hear from you and what a wonderful teacher! I'm happy for you. This is actually the only tune of his I do, but would love to discover more. Your kind words mean a lot. Please keep in touch, dale.

  • You really should credit William Coulter with the unique arrangement on guitar of this beautiful song. It is on his "Celtic Sessions" recording. You did cover it quite nicely though
