  • Maybe for men a stylish banana hammock?

  • Sweet! My husband commutes by bike and seems to be going through inner tubes often lately (dirty streets causing punctures!). I've been wondering what we were going to do all those half inflated tubes in the closet. I really need a belt because I've worn out one of mine so I'll just reuse the "hardwear" from that belt to make a new one!

  • Instead of or in addition to the thread, you could use a spare bit of tube or patch and some tube cement to join the ends. It should create a stronger joint.

  • love it love it love it!

  • sweet cat :)

  • It's a series of Tubes, Not a big truck.

  • Smart, buts till WHO DOES THIS!?

  • Your haircut is SO cute, Becky! You can totally rock the pixie!

  • KITTY IN BACKGROUND!!!

  • i rather patch it

  • Your "old tube" looks pretty new to me, especially the gleaming valve and lots of talcum powder in it.

And yes, an old bike tube stinks.

  • Thanks for this video.... Someone nicked my bike inner tube they other day and im blaming you !!!!

  • really cool! love it!

  • But, if you can patch the tube and keep using it, that's much better. It's really easy to patch a tube yourself, and there are dozens of videos online for learning how.

Please don't encourage the "upcycling" of tubes that are possibly still very good. Instead, they should be patched and used or patched and donated to a bicycle recycle shop for use by the less fortunate.

But if you have a sizable chunk taken out of the tube, then definitely "upcycle" it into something pretty, as you have shown!

  • Loved it!! I'm totally making one!!

  • I think the craft is good, but putting a trash on my head .. nope. Better to make it from new silicone rubber.

  • becky stern is a hippie. and i like it.

  • old bike tubes usually STINK!!!

  • Presta valve for the win!

  • Collin's music is awesome!

  • wow. that was really cool!

  • Can someone tell me how you would make a belt out of it? I get the process, but what about a buckle?

  • LOL, I work at a place where I make rubber tubes. The "white powder" is a powerful drying agent that can dry out your hands and what ever you touch with it. You said the clean that out, you cant! It may seem the stuff is gone its not! Its inside the rubber, if you wear that and for some reason you started to sweat and that contacts your skin. lol, send me a video so I can laugh at the side effects!

  • It hasn't done me any harm, maybe because the figure-8s are folded so that what was once the inside of the tube is folded on itself?

  • Very creative. I dig.

  • Why whould I put my old bycicle inner tube on my head...

  • an interesting, yet great way to recycle an old inner tube. Very green! :)

  • cat:X:X:X:X

  • nice one becky, it looks quite snazzy and a very creative idea, cheers from san diego

  • Great idea, but I think that this kind of rubber don't smell nice.

  • nice video becky.

  • I saw a kitty! :D

  • Clever

  • Thanks for the post.

  • you're good :) kept me entertained

  • a cat on the chair o.O

  • for cutting the holes a knife can be easier if weilded properly. this is more a a design for females also so if your a guy and make a belt or necklace you might be teased so just give it to a girl of your choice!

  • good vid crazy cat/craft lady.

  • thats pretty cool.

  • Crafty!

  • I don't think I'd have the patience to do that, or even that I would wear anythings like it (but then I NEVER wear any accessories :)), but anyway it's very interesting and creative, and I'm sure I'll find some way of using the idea :)

  • cat in the background FTW

  • wow, that looks dope!

  • thats pretty kewl

  • NIce vid and vibes

  • Cut them so you have rubber bands and use them for holding electric cord and other stuff. Cut length wise and they can be used as tiedowns on your truck/car. I've made a water ballon sling shot from one of them.

  • Hey Becky: Very nice way to use your resources this was very cool i vote 5\5 stars but your should make one for guys too lol, like a huge slingshot or something lol...

  • Looks cool! Nice job!

  • Are those racing bike tires?

  • yep, and from 650 wheels.

  • I never heard anyone refer to a bike tube as "broken."

  • PROTIP: Use an x-acto knife

  • I never knew i would be happy when both my tires were flat

  • Nice job BeckyS.

  • cute cat on the chair in the back round did anyone notice him too?

  • yeah she likes to snooze on the chair, it's her favorite spot!

  • Won't the rubber stain your hair if you wear it?

Everytime Ive ever changed a bike tire, there is residual rubber that rubs off when you touch it and gets on your hands

Also, the hairband would for sure get tangled in my hair... kinda fail

  • I haven't had any problems, and it doesn't get snagged because it's not too tight!

  • awesome

  • I wish I had a bike now.

  • bike gangsta look

  • The band might be useful for something, but as something to wear?.. I don't think so. Seriously... "junkyard decoration"

  • well if you made it out of leather it would be a lot more awesome.

  • was actually nervy nice Becky! :D

  • its uncomfortable to put rubber on your head....

  • it actually doesn't pinch like I originally thought it would. It's not too tight which helps that as well. It's super comfy, I wear it all the time!

  • @makemagazine lier!

  • really, i swear! I'm wearing it in Collin's kit video, too. And right now. It's never uncomfortably pulled my hair.

  • I noticed that. It's definitely awesome!

  • My moms into this stuff.. ill tell her about it.. THANKS

  • Thank's Becky!

  • Venusian are obsessed with these decoration things :P. Let them be happy ^_^.

    It was nice :-).

  • Love the evil diminished chords in the background music!

Really gives it a creepy vibe!

    Keep up the good work!

    Cheers

    BillyChaos

  • I love Becky Stern!

  • yea and get cancer from the pcb's no thanx

  • what is pcb stand for

  • @infospill

Ah, you're probably "that guy" who's also worried about all the radiation from video monitors and refuses to carry a cellphone in your pocket due to tumors that "could " form if exposed to the device for 100 to 150 years.

Suck it up!! It's JUST RUBBER! If you live in fear you will never be able to create! Go void a warranty, inhale some fumes and use open heat element inappropriately! You'll love life alot more in the end.

  • AWSOME!!!

Why didn't my ftp comment show up?!

  • Yey a new one!

  • cool i guess

  • I'm an anti-consumerist but this takes it a bit to far.

  • Exactly! :)

  • what do you mean by "anti-consumerist"

  • this looks great if you use if as a belt.. thanks for the video!

  • Hey, that's a nice one! Thanks!

  • Nice :D

  • surely it would be easier with a sharp scalpel.. but its pretty cool anyway
