I'm super jealous of the Dazed and Confused and Spartacus!!! My consist of House, 8 1/2, Naked Lunch, The Great Dictator, Videodrome, The Seventh Seal, Seven Samurai, Brand Upon The Brain, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Life Aquatic, Royal Tenebaums, and The Darjeeling Limited. I recommend all of those if you have never seen them. Good luck man!
@JaTeamYupee This is a super old video and my collection is far more expansive at this point. Thanks for the comment tho for sure. Of the films that you suggest I own The Seventh Seal, Seven Samurai, and Fear and Loathing. Not into Wes Anderson at all so won't be picking any of his stuff up but I have actually been looking into getting The Great Dictator. Watched 8 1/2 on Netflix a while back and just wasn't really into it. Not me I guess.
I have noticed that the new Criterion collection as of 2011 are not being rented by Netflix. I called Netflix, and the guy on the phone, polite, could not give me an answer. ClassicFlix and Blockbuster still seem to be renting these out, at least BLockbuster on Blueray. Netflix was going to release Criterion Paths of Glory and A Safe Place but cancelled. What's going on? Will see if I can contact Criterion. Could not find a Contact area.
@TheStudyOfPedro Yeah I still collect them. Check my channel I posted an updated version of this vid and will probably re do it because the lighting was bad. As far as suggestions go just check out their site and see what's there and what you might like that's pretty much what I do.
@LewisVideoArchive Thanks. This is a really old vid. I have expanded my Criterion stuff drastically since this was posted and actually have a more recent one. Still don't have as many as a lot of folks on here do but I'm not into collecting everything they have done just the stuff I'm into.
@skittlesareyum48 Yeah I have it too but on Bluray. This is an old vid I have a couple more of updated ones and I need to do one again. I have about 60 or so now.
Yea Dazed and Confused and Brazil are probably my two favorite edition as of right now, but im holding out on the Videodrome set becuase they are just about to release it on Blu-Ray, i just hope it still has the cool set-up!
@shitIMGOINGPOSTAL I have Straw Dogs you just have to check out my updated Criterion vid to see it. Amazing movie. Never heard of the first one and I watched a little of Vampyr at a friends and wasn't digging it so I probably won't get it unless I find it dirt cheap somewhere.
@solidmatt13 hmm, well i have heard that vampyr is a 1930's movie, so you kind of give and take with it staying relevant for over 70 years(at-least thats my guess). salvatore giuliano is a story about a character of the same name who is italy's most celebrated bandit. i have watched a few of your video's and subscribed. your doing a great job and you have a great collection.
@PaintYourSilence I actually have an updated version of this vid and I now own 2 Criterion Blurays. Not really all that into Bluray actually. Too much money for something that just doesn't impress me that much. When stuff starts getting cheaper I will get more but I'm fine with DVD until it just doesn't exist anymore.
@solidmatt13 I agree with you about prices. Some prices can be too expensive ie. the new Alien Quadrilogy on blu is over $90. However, Criterions on blu are getting cheaper and cheaper... some are even cheaper than their DVD counterparts. I'm still buying DVD, but if something is on blu, that is the version I am going to get. I was like you about a month ago, but all of a sudden I was hit by the craze and now I realize that a video format this revolutionary can't possibly fail.
@solidmatt13 It will also last longer than DVD because the overall quality is much better than DVD. DVD's started out with quality that wasn't any different than their VHS transfers. The only thing that worries me is that certain companies (like Criterion for instance) are releasing some of their films on both DVD and Blu-ray, but others on DVD exclusively. This leads me to thinking that some films are incapable of being upgraded or the effort it takes would be too much for a film that
I neeed to see Brazil! I have some Akira Kurosawa Criterions if you want to do a quick 1week swap. Im trying to watch as many Criterions as i can. You should also check out Criterions Eclipse Series..Fantastic...

Cool video, I own several criterions, but I never thought about making a video about them, great idea!! I scored several films and box sets recently so I might upload one soon.
@atouze LOL yeah it was a great deal. I only paid $5 for Fear And Loathing as well which imo was an amazing deal for such an awesome movie and edition.
Pretty good collection. It amazes me that you found the larger version of brazil.
i own 32 criterion DVD's currently and most are of foregin directors works. I recommend you get Slacker by Richard Linklater, Short cuts by Robert Altman and walkabout by Nicholas roeg.
Very good choices! People usually question the fact that i own Salo as well, but i see art on various degrees which should not be limited just because of scripted explicit content.
Two lane blacktop is really hard to find over, still haven't got it.
Glad you enjoyed it. I don't see a lot of vids of people showing Criterion stuff on Youtube but I'm hoping if enough people check out this vid maybe it will inspire them to show theirs.

the cheapest criterion I found is the terry zwigoff film "louie bluie" only about $15, cause the movie is only an hour long.
