  • would like to visit...how structly sound was in

  • jhn128 my grandfather also worked in the steel mills, he tells me great stories

  • I hope that these places go back in business.

  • I miss my local steel mill....

  • Leave it to congress to find ways to shut down America and get the job done in ways that the terrorist could only dream of. Sad that younger people will never see what America looked like in the heyday of jobs and prosperity before congress began enacting all the trade deals that have caused the economic demise of the United States.

  • Remember to thank your congressmen for moving all the jobs. By the way where are all the jobs that were supposed to be created by free trade? I thought we would all be working for UPS like they told us.

  • i actually walked in on the filming of The Mysteries of Pittsburgh at this mill. me & a friend hopped a fence and climbed over an elevated train track from the woods at the :26 mark. we thought the place was abandoned but at the :20 mark we saw a table with bottled water on it & a sign that said car chase with an arrow. as we walked more we saw a security guard & he "chased" us off. it sucked because we just wanted pictures of the mill. we snapped a few off real quick so it wasnt a total waste

  • my grand pap and my great grand pap and uncle all worked in mills most of my family did its kinda sad to see that they took our jobs and gave them to china and other countries that have billions of people in them because they don't no how to use a condom and they need jobs its bull

  • This is part of the Carrie Furnaces, of which two still remain in Rankin, Pennsylvania. Recently, they were used as 'The Cloud Factory' in the film The Mysteries of Pittsburgh. You might recognize the tallest stack as the one that Cleveland falls in toward the end of the movie if you've seen it.

  • As of right now I didn't see very much in terms of redeveloping except a pile of sandbags on one of the buildings. And yes skyflyer, it is fenced off and lined with barbed wire

  • wow this would be cool to see. How can you get in, wouldn't that place be fenced off as a public safety hazard.

  • They give tours of this furnace "carrie furnace". I believe you can go to Homesteads main ave and go to the steel heritage building on 8th ave and inquire about it..

  • I am from Johnstown,I am sure that all the mill workers here would be happy to know that their Industrie is is being turned into a bronze toilet museum.Yes i think everyone will sleep better at night.(NOT)

  • Its the Carrie Furnace. There are plans to redevelop the site and make the furnaces a museum.

  • Creepy.

  • My grandfather worked in this mill

  • my pap worked @ irvin works.

  • thats cool a part of pittsburgh history

  • i worked in a shithole like this in the '80s

  • Super ! Paradise to take the picture and movies..!

  • hang on hang on...

is this where they shot the movie RoboCop?!

  • Its a damn shame to see this. My family had a combined total of 250 years in steelmaking. I'm all for capitalism but its a shame when you eliminate the people who helped you get rich and import shoddy product because its cheaper.

  • steel just isn't used as much and more...but they are reopening some plants...but I get you point.

  • way to late for Pittsburgh.. :(

  • Thats the Carrie Furnaces dahn ere in Homestead n'at

  • was that in Duquesne??

  • I believe that is Carrie Furnace.
