  • AMAZING !!! THE NAME OF THIS SONG PLEASE? :)

  • Awesome!

Where can I buy this song or the whole album?

  • @PingaloBill Thanks! The album will be coming out this spring. You can hear this track mixed by Andy Bradfield here -- kirkross . com / spirit (without spaces won't let you post URLs). Also some other tracks on my site.

  • @kirkbross I'm looking forward to it! Thank you for the link!

  • The album will be released in early 2012 now... that's the best window for an indie release and we're too late to set it up for a September release.

However... there will be single and EP releases prior to that... stay tuned.

  • @kirkbross the URL you gave doesn't work, is there any other way of hearing the music?

  • @axeman7000 @axeman7000 Plugged in direct, yes, but no headphones-I was just standing in the control room listening through the nearfield monitors and the engineer accidentally had my old scratch bass playing with my live bass. It was (naturally) distracting so I asked him to lose the old bass. Then I asked for more of my live bass, and finally said 'put it up in the mains' at which point the sound changes. Here's the track mixed by Andy Bradfield:

  • Obviously not a 'take'. If my drummer asked for bass that loud he would have bleed into every mic in the room

  • @axeman7000 Actually, that was "the" take that's on the album-the voice you hear is me in the control room asking for more bass while I was playing with Abe. Whispering for no reason, because he could not hear the control room. Abe had his own 8 channel headphone monitor control unit which you can see him adjusting at the top of the video. It was filmed with a little Canon Powershot sitting on one of the monitors pointing through the glass out into the tracking area.

    Cheers,

    Kirk

  • @kirkbross ...lol.Oh, cool...that explains everything. I'm sitting in my studio right now ready to do some vocals for a Pink Floyd song I recorded. I recorded the drums last night. I can hear a pin drop when I have an overhead condensor mic on. I guess you were pliugged in direct in the control room with headphones.

    Keep jammin' bud.....

  • @axeman7000 Plugged in direct, yes, but no headphones-I was just standing in the control room listening through the nearfields and the engineer accidentally had my old scratch bass playing with my live bass. It was (naturally) distracting so I asked him to mute it. Then I asked for more bass, and finally said 'put it up in the mains' at which point the sound changes. Here's the track mixed by Andy Bradfield, mastered by Gavin Lurssen: kirkross . com / spirit

  • @kirkbross ...without a doubt hearing two bass tracks can be disturbing. It's so easy to punch in/out these days. I kinda miss the old analog sound but technology keeps on truckin'.That song was cool...I like the vocals too.Good Job.... I have a deep voice so my vocal style is geared towards Tom Petty and Floyd. Have some good originals but haven't posted 'em....soon. ok, back to work...I'll add ya so I can keep up with your music progress.

    peace out

    Don/

  • Great drummer. Verse vaguely reminds me of In Circles by Sunny Day Real Estate.

  • @devonmeyer Interesting... you are the first person to draw a connection to Sunny Day Real Estate. I was never a fan and never owned any records, but I did see them once at the Viper Room in LA back in the early 90's and that song always stuck in my head. Funny. It definitely influenced my writing... it's the Emin to C to G chord progression and dropping to the 3rd in the melody.

  • @kirkbross very interesting. I knew It was a distant connection. Love it.. great melody and a killer groove.

  • awesome song, dude :)

  • Nice song, brilliant drummer!

  • @mdctubbs if you would give this tune a chance, its actually a great song, its too bad it was cut short in this video

  • Hi kirk, this song is awesome! Pleeeaaase sent me this advanced file!

Great song! Great musicans! Perfect groove! Greatings from Germany, York

  • I love Abe's drumming. And he does seem like a really nice guy. I would love to meet him. I'm coming to la soon I'll have to keep my eye peeled for him, maybe get to be friends with him, than I can steal drum licks from him haa! Cool video.

  • Great song!!!!

  • @mdctubbs I agree with your comments 100 %

  • abe laboriel Sr, is the brother of jonny laboriel a mexican singer of rock and roll very nice people

  • Is this a comment board for 15 year olds!?

  • FLAME WAR!

  • What I like to see are drummers out there like rock star gods taking in the crowd. Breathing the crowd in and out of their little drummer lungs.

Drummers deserve to be rockstars and big arena rock heros.

I see red ears of madness from jealous guitar players and singers.

Play fast and loud and furious. The more crowd you get the better. The proof is in the batter.

Butter 'em up with drum licks and click tracks and whacks against the snare & cymbals.

    All you whiners shut up.

  • @JoeJacari you are fucking awesome, i tell ya.

  • i really dig this song... abe is always so tasteful.

  • he's got sick skills on the set , plus he is a mad singer, 5stars , this guy is blessed

  • This is a drummer's drummer. He has got it!!!

  • even if he is just taking a piss abe is a clasico and so is KIrk Bross

  • for the record all the laboriels are phenoms abe jr.'s little bro matteo is a mean bass player in his own right but i agree abe jr. is a beast

  • he is abraham laboriel jr. the drummer of paul macCartney the son of abraham laboriel sr. the great jazz bass guitarist

  • Abe Laboriel Sr. is a celebrated bass player actually. Abe Jr. is his son and equally great. The "greatest" thing about both of them is that they are nice people.

  • man why you burning on the laboriels

  • isnt he from paul mccartneys old band

  • That was a pleasure, he's got the whole package, musicianship definately runs in their family.

  • whether it is in bassplaying or in drumming: groove has o n e name: "Abraham Laboriel"! Simply amazing...

  • it's his father who play bass (he's got the same name)

  • Yes, exactly, and he's one of the most adorable persons in musicbusiness. Check his videos on youtube:-)!

  • Abe's feel is awesome! and deff. a very musical player!

  • One word: Turgid

  • lol

The song is a little 'slow' alright ;)

  • your point being?...

  • What every is song is supposed to be fast?...all your comment shows is that you have no taste in music and probably no Talent

  • Piss off with comments like that. I'm sure I have played in front of more people with different artists than you have. that ain't a boast, that'll be a fact!! I have plenty of it pal, don't you worry!

  • Your Comment just proved You have no idea what your talking about! It's not about playing in front of Huge Crowds or Being the center of attention. Its about Quality Not Quantity!!!!

Playing the Music for what It is,that means you don't pic what you play if your with a certain band! I knew I guy like that,I replaced him! Because he had that mentality! Its all about me,and the crowd! Ha,ha! I was called for his job! Think about it!

  • Further more fuck wit, where in my first comment do I say anything about playing in front of crowds or being the centre of attention? No where. I agree, it is all about quality and you know what? I don't hear a quality song here. It's an opinion and it has nothing to do with how fast or slow the tempo is. I don't think it's a good song and it's absence form any airwaves where I live proves that. Get your fucking shit correct before you start blowing smoke.

  • If that's your opinion...why not keep it to yourself! Because apparentlyeveryone else here thinks its awesome! And that was a really good statement......"I don't think it's a good song and it's absence form any airwaves where I live proves that" Wow! Your a complete moron, because their are artists that still make a living at music...without being on every station!...duh! I'll go with Arisenservant and Just say....you don't know what your talking about and haven't played with true musicians!

  • You've played all over the world? Right! And you follow your instincts! Good for you! Still show some respect! I wouldn't know because I don't share your opinion? thats the problem with musicians like you! Your style,music,playing..etc is right and awesome and everything else is dull and stupid! Instead of still showing some respect for music in general.Speaking your opinion and not saying Its the universal truth! and throwing "I play everywhere" line! Great job keep it up!

  • ...why should I keep the opinion to myself? You aren't so good at keeping your's at bay, why the fuck should I?! I think too you are confused as to the meaning of certain words, words like 'Enlightened' I was always led to believe it was to do with knowledge and insight, things you seem lacking in. What's that you say?!? It's a joke! Oh I get it, a play on words, like calling a fat man Slim. Very good.

  • Abe plays so musically. Great work with the blasticks.

  • @backbeat64 Regular sticks acutally :)
