I know people are making a big deal about this recall, saying this is why to buy a domestic... Seriously? Are you forgeting about the bankruptcy basically all domestics went through about a year ago for listening to their customers? What about that Ford Pinto lawsuit series in the 70s (car exploded on rear end impact)? They never did a recall, bc it was cheaper to pay the lawsuits! Seen Roger and Me? GM puts a town on the streets so they could export the plant to Mexico, ya lets buy from them.

Scary thing is, my parents own a recalled model of the Camry. But wouldn't the smartest thing be to turn the car off. I mean come on really?

@aaronketten Turning of the car could lock your steering wheel (if you take out the key in panic). At the very least turning of the car causes steering and breaking assistance to be turned of, therefore, it takes a lot more force to turn the steering and break.

The best solution is to just put it in neutral (keeping car on) and apply breaks

I realize that your steering wheel would lock if you turned it ALL the way off. Just turn it so the engine stops. You would sstill be able to turn and brake, just not as easy as people are so use to now.

@aaronkettem: That's what I said... But why make steering and breaking harder when there is another perfect working alternative of going into neutral?

Breaking without assistance increased your stopping time by a lot. If your driving into an intersection your basically screwed if you do not have that assistance.

I wouldn't buy or drive any Toyota until Toyota stops lying and comes clean on what the problem is, and even then I would never trust them again. .

GM and many other automakers have had a simple safety devices that overrides the accelerator if the brake pedal is depressed for many years, so I guess Toyota went on the cheap without regard for the safety of American families.

@JDGillis61 ive had toyotas my whole life and am switching to ford, I think its the computers that are connected to the throttle body, theyre glitching out maybe because of the waves coming from a cell phone, gps, or blutooth device but they need to get their act together
