I said Vietnam was the deep wound. He was apparently not aware of what he was doing. Last night I wrote an essay about Iraq being a deeper wound, which I will tape soon. It was outrageous that a man who did not engage the issue of Vietnam (either for or against) would try to use it for political advantage.
If Vietnam was a deep and lasting scab on the American psyche, imagine how deep it is when you combine the lying and deception to get into the illegal attack on Irak? Whoooah, did he really say that? That is just outrageous!
