@ gisped - there is nothing carnal about this song, it is not depraved. What is wrong with you? It's based on scripture! We are made in His image and God has feelings, as does Jesus, as does the Holy Spirit. While it's true that feelings can misleading, the emotional detachment that you appear to be advocating smacks of eastern religions and philosophies. True worship involves the heart as well as the mind and spirit. Brother, you sound like a pharisee to me. Where is your joy?

what this music seems to do is dragging Jesus down to us, instead of lifting us up to Him. If Jesus was your universal boyfriend, this music would be appropriate. However He is THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD, and should be approached bearing that in mind. - I don't doubt your experiences though of this being an uplifting song. Feelings can do that to you. You can't trust your feelings. You have to see what the EFFECT is, and that comes AFTERWARDS. This song brings no peace to me. It only is depraving

I think you're partly right, but on the other hand it almost sounds like you're forgetting Jesus *came down to us*. He took on flesh, became a man, live amongst us, loved us, and was willing to die for us. And we were made in his image before the fall, and are restored to it through faith in him. He is not some completely alien, transcendental God who is absolutely different and unlike us - that is the kind of God Muslims and some Hindus believe in.

many, many christians actually have trouble in believing that Christ really took on fallen human nature and died a literal death on the cross. They believe it is a roleplay. What an insult in the face of Him that loved us so that He was willing to give the entire heaven and eternity to save us. But the fact that He came down to this earth does not mean He ever gave in to the carnal desires to do evil, something that this music promotes with it's soundscape that brings a shock to the senses.

I agree, it is about Jesus' sacrifice being the ultimate expression of love but music can be used as our appreciation and love for HIM. This outpour can be expressed through music that results in praising, worshipping, and sometimes joyful noise. .

My point was that music that promotes promiscuity and rebellion cannot be to the glory of God. This song is not the worst of the perpetrators, but it is definately in that category. God bless!

@kenandvianey - completely agree with your response to gisped. He's right in that we often approach our holy, transcendental God with irreverence, but we shouldn't forget that our God is also immanent. Heb 12:18-24 tells us that because of Christ, we can draw near to him. We cry, "Abba, Father!" by the Spirit.  There is so much bad theology out there, and too often to counter error on one side, we leap to the other side and miss the "beauty of simplicity" that is the true Gospel.

before I even thought that Jesus could ever love me, I was such a sad and angry person...I never knew how to show my emotions unless in a lie, than the Lord brought tears to my eyes when I was sitting in the backseat of my dad's car when he accidentally put it on a Christian station and all i did was listen and heard this song and the tears just fell from my eyes.
