The difference with this training is that it is not focused on how you look. If you concentrate on this training you WILL develop real-world strength that you can actually do things with, rather than doing pointless isolation exercises and countless repetitions with little or no actual strength gains at all.
I am committed to Anthony Bova's Spartan Training Regime with no regrets. The program WILL transform you into a modern-day spartan warrior. It delivers exactly what it promises, to make you a breed apart from everyday man, exceptional.
Only you would know whether you have given it your all. for me it was basically when i would be screaming and grunting my head off to get the last few punches out. that was my bottom point. but shit..sometimes i would feel like i have hit the bottom point and trainer would say "come on" and somehow i got more out from inside of me.
I personally have purchased the Spartan Helath Regime and have absolutely no regrets about the money i forked out. It's a great publication with lots of infor on training, diet and lifestyle.
I used to do a lot of boxing training, where they would gun me till i couldn't move. I never puked though. that happens when u r unfit.
Spartan training my hairy arse. However, at a certain point its genetics. I played first grade at the same school as the kid in this video. At the same age I was 6ft 3 inches and weighed in at close to 20 stone. A 100lb sack would have been, well pretty incidental to me. And yeah we trained at least as hard as that. I liked it at the time, but 20 years later Im suffering permanent damage to my knees, shoulders, back and neck. I still wouldn't change it though
that's not exactly right.. not all people are the same...everyone do not faint OR puke even if they gave it their all...and i've never heard of puking after getting tired...well if u just ate then yea...u don't have to faint or puke to know that u gave it ur all...
your right. the spartans were left to survive on there own in the woods at the age of 7. training for war all there life. special forces like the sas are required to a 60km uphill march in 20 hours with full gear in extreme cold weather conditions then ammediately afterwoods have to evade hunting parties in open terrain for a minimum of a day without food or sleep. hes on his way though i'll give him that.
I can't imagine this can be very good on your back...Looks intense though. How on earth to you balance taht bag on your back for all those reps without it slipping or something though?
Personaly I do pilates and yoga to get my abs and tone. Weightlifting to build muscle for my upper body. And running to keep my endurance, speed and thinness.
But I hear this builds you pretty fucking huge because the sand swifts unlike weightlifting and takes a lot more stability.
Uh, if you do freeweight exercises, as in not using machines but bars and dumbbells, you use the same stabilizer muscles just as much. Just do squats instead of leg presses, and do them free weight, no smith machines! Really helps your balance, you become much more stable.
For those of you who are bashing this kid, he's doing his best, thats what counts. He may not be at your level but its his best which means he's giving 110%, more than you ever will. Way to go.
I agree. Check out that little girl picking up flowers in the countryside. THAT'S hardcore compared to this.
Firemen have RACES with a similar exercise, although for more distance and a bit less weight. I recall a stair race in London last summer, three floors, 40k on their backs. Running up!
No Im not a doctor, I dont think people have to be one to know that. Um... just research on google or go to parkour. net to read some topics about graduall build up of muscle stress.
I wasn't clear, what I meant was this, since the guy wasn't used to doing Spartan-like training (assuming this from the video) it was dangerous for his body to experience so much stres in the short amount of time that he did the Spartan training program.
However you are right in your point about weight lifting, but weight lifters train this so their body is used to the stress therefore it is not dangerous for the body.
him not passing out has nothing to do with it... have you ever heard of over training? symptoms are the dullest things that you might never pick up on but you could still be doing a load of damage to your body
Uh, over training by the definition I'm used to is doing intense training for over one hour a day. This causes too much muscle cannibalization, as in your body then starts using the muscle for energy instead of cabs or sugar. Marching with 80 lbs. on your back isn't really "intense" to me, so marching for 10 miles with 80 lbs. on your back wouldn't really be over training. However, it would remove muscle mass, and just make you more toned. Generally good for fighting/sports IIRC....
Jack LaLanne, the Godfather of Fitness is 93 yo and still works out two hours every single morning of his life. He says you can't over train. That the body will always get stronger the more you push it. Just make sure to change the routine every 30 days.
Ha ha ha. Running up and down stairs with weight on your shoulders is great. But if you need to pay some mutha to tell you it's great then you're crazy. After the build up I thought we were going to see something exciting.
weak! try carrying a pole over your shoulders with giant buckets of water... down a mountain... barefoot... to an old, white bearded master who slaps you with his chopsticks each time and tells you to repeat because you spilled too much!
5th grade to 2nd grade in a few weeks... bollocks!
Unless... there was a lot of injuries and he managed to get in the team. That said, is tackling like a girl, ran about the pitch like a giraffe on ice skates and couldn't thrown the ball in straight.
This is great! Anyone can help me find more intensity training videos like this? I'm putting together a reel of links for students I'm working with, motivating them to change their perception of what it means to work through pain. (btw, I remember doing this kind of work in wrestling... and throwing up after the first set)
This exercise is only for experienced athletes. This is also a very intense and u need a very strong back, lower torso and legs for this. anybody who says this wont do anything cant do it in the 1st place.
WOW! Im a runner and I consider myself to have pretty strong legs considering that I run around 30 miles a week. But that stairs of hercules shit would probably kill me!
The first 2 minutes and 30 seconds are a waste of time and the rest of the video isn't much better. A guy carries a 150lb bag up some stairs several times, gets tired, drops the bag and says fuck. Don't waste your time watching this!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think its a good work out, but running for 30 min uphill will get you very similar results, not here to criticize though, your crazy man, hard work out, watch your back though, might just fuk it up b4 your 30yrs old
Your posture is going to be wrecked by the time your 30 if you continue to do these hercules walks. Although I will say you have some balls to do that, fair play.
buy a zip bag like this or a big duffle bag and go to the local beach and fill it up with the Lords sand then zip it up and superglue it for extra safety (not necessary)I have a 300lb sand bag now i milarary press it with handles and i run with it. PRAISE GOD 8)
What about just do lunges either with bar or dumbbell? Lol...And combine with dumbbell stand-up to the bench? 4x20 and Ill guarantee you that itll promote greater muscle growth than walking stairs with 68 kg. on your back
Reminds me of my Marine (capital "M") days, too. We did the same thing, only we carried each other on our backs up and down the stairs, progressing to where the rider squirms and fights the guy carrying him. The stairs turned into waterfalls of sweat and puke. Ahhh...the good ol' days...
Great videos. These past couple of years have been the best.I keep those training manuals locked in a fire safe. The training reminds me of stuff I used to do when I was a marine, only much more intense.I don't see how there can possibly be any more effective way to do it than this.Excellent work, and very much appreciated.
Not a chance is that bag 68kg. I doubt that guy even weighs that much. I see 100kg guys who can't pick up 50kg dumbells in the gym and I workout 7 days a week and see all kinds of potential. That bag is 30-40kg max.
Obviously. In any case, go read Dinosaur Training by Brooks Kubik. If you already have, then we are brothers, and shouldn't be arguing over something we both clearly are passionate about.
wtf, why are u comparing dumbbells with weights on your back, your legs are about 8 times as strong as your biceps and the stairs are only a few centimeters high so you aren't even near of doing full reps witch means that you can do a LOT more. those 100kg guys that you are talking about ask how much they can squat and dead lift and u will get your facts right.
I was talking in the context of weight vs body mass only, not excerises for any specific body part. It just seemed unlikely that a guy that small could pick up a 68Kg bag full of whatever (sand?) and lug it around for that long. If I'm wrong, it's not a problem - I'll happily accept that.
i like the guy at the end...good job !

That's bullsh*t, isn't it.
Roman soldiers would march for hours with 50+ pounds of weight and then might have to fight for a few hours, set up camp, and eat.
I doubt they had any hormonal imbalances.
Overtraining is myth by the fitness industry. Yes, if you do lots of exercise and your body isn't used to it you are going to have to recover.
With regards to harm, the point of training IS to harm your body. Breaking muscle tissue is the only way the body is going to build better tissue.

I loved the "conversation" with your brother at the end, too funny!

Not a chance is that bag 68kg. I doubt that guy even weighs that much. I see 100kg guys who can't pick up 50kg dumbells in the gym and I workout 7 days a week and see all kinds of potential. That bag is 30-40kg max.

Bullshit.

Actually, it's not. But, then again, I expected a response like this from someone who obviously doesn't understand what working out is all about.
