  • I'm not quite sure how to interpret all those "Like" votes. Are they in favor of a nuclear attack, or just generally pleased with noisy things?

  • @NeosimianSapiens Just to confuse you further, I am liking your comment.

  • NIce...

  • i heard this in like 3 hturs in the morning and i jumped outta bed and i almost jizzed i was going outside and i saw the army they just sayed it was a exercise i was like WWWAAAAAATTTTT TTTTHHHHEEEE FFFFFUUUUUUU

  • So this was the basis for the Silent Hill siren.

  • what this resembles and symbolises is scary.

  • That IS a Castle Castings siren in the photos/video,

but that sound recording is actually a 1940s vintage Carter/Gents siren, which were the Castles' predecessor- with larger motor and a very slightly different tone, although the same 10/12 port ratio and pitch.

The Castle siren was common during the later Cold-war period and used as a nuclear warning siren until early 1990s

I believe this exact recording is the one which regularly featured in the BBCs "Dads Army" series...

  • love it what kind is that ?

  • Great Siren indeed! A+++ I will use this audio on / in / my PA system to warn people of a Tornado or use it as a AirRaid Siren! A+++ It would be better if I could buy one of these Sirens instead of using a PA system!!! Where can I buy one or more of these Sirens???? Thank you for posting this audio clip! A+++

  • Im going to put this on my large speakers. And play it soooo loud in like 2.30 AM :D

  • @ltlrenati Good idea !

  • How long have these been in use?

  • Enemy aircraft inbound! Pilots, to your posts! Come on, chocks away! Let's get these guys!

  • the siren single phase or three phase?

  • Silent hill u.u

  • @ALIENS756 agreed man

the way i see it, is that if somthing is in your way...nuke it; cant bother you when its radio-active dust :P

  • Are these similar to the Gents Leicester sirens used in WWII. This one seems to have a similar tone and pitch. as the the above mentioned. I really would like to obtain one of these sirens either brand would suffice. Been looking on E-bay and the net and cannot find anything yet. I would think there would be a surplus in some of the British ruled Asian countries that were placed there to warn of Japanese Bombing attacks in WWII especially in Burma, Australia, India ect

  • remind's me of the movie Shaun of the dead (LOL!!!)

  • OHHHHHHHHHHH Shit.......................

  • You get a deathly silent eerie feeling listening to this..

  • Please Get Your Facts right. Britan was NOT In the Cold War. They Were Used In WWII To Warn Of Air Raids You DumbAss!!!

  • Nuclear sirens sound different than tornado sirens, and their scarier, but the thing that makes them MUCH scarier is that this could be the last thing you hear on this earth... CHILLS

  • @DeathlyDavid ....and "their" scarier??? nice spelling. how about, THEY'RE scarier??? TARD

  • @lovetogokiev why the hell do you have to go after me after that? It was fixed on my spell checker to a version of They're that i didn't want. And you spelled RETARD wrong RETARD.

  • @DeathlyDavid try fucking your stupid useless spell checker, TARD. Learn to spell on your own. NO, I didn't spell TARD wrong...

  • spooky how one minute everythings fine, the next there could be this going off and a nuclear warhead above!

  • chills :/

  • the last thing you hear before you incinerate.

  • reminds me of silent hill

  • it is the sound of fear..

  • oh my god.....this gave me the biggest goose bumps in my life

  • This is spine chilling if I'm honest

  • I have the short version on my phone as a ringtone, its reall cool.

  • when i first heard this in school i was scared and people looked at me as i asked the teacher UM is that to be ignored or what(i was \almost under my desk as the resst of me was telling me to get ready to run!)

  • Nuclear Threat?

    Utusho anyone?

  • il tell you some things about testing the sirens:

    All Clear : 30 Sec's Single Tone

During Air Raid (Take Shelter Imediatly) : 1 min of Circular Siren

Incoming Air Raid: 2 Minutes (clear tone)

  • imagine playing this at a veterans meeting haha i bet they would shit bricks

  • @cammo6901: you might be thinking of a federal 2T22. Look it up

  • most classic siren sound

  • i heard a siren like this this morning, except it was shorter between rises and falls, and it was higher pitched. IT SCARED ME.

  • Gives me goosebumps.

  • Best. Alarm clock. EVER! Although you shouldn't overuse these apocalyptic, terrifying, yet wonderful things.

  • dude! I tried so hard to download that sound to my android... do you know where I can found it for it to be saved as sound and not as a ringtone or notification sound?

  • @ricardoastronaut I just used a sound recording program which records wtv is played on the computer, and then transferred it to my iPhone.

  • how much would one of these cost?

  • @g3airsofter you dont want to know

  • Used? Probably $600 USD for one that the motor is in fairly decent shape but needs paint and new bearings.

  • Granted, it could be anything. I can pick up a working used Thunderbolt 1000TB for $650 that's already off it's pole. I can also get a functioning 3t22 for $300. They both need work but would sound if power was applied.

  • First four seconds of terror. They stood for about 20 years with out testing or being run-up.

Would they have worked if there was an attack? Does the Pope shit in the woods?Great vid',does it only sound the"all clear"?

  • This would be the best noise makes during new year! Too bad it might freak a lot of people out...

  • they might think the soviets are celebrating their new year with their new years resoultution by nuking amreica

  • man i hate hearing sirens at night man some bomb or Zombies lol

  • spooky. wouldn't want to hear it in the middle of the night

  • @lovetogokiev You go to sleep

    WIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

    Aw CME ON!

  • @lovetogokiev unless your girl-friend was the one sayin it XD

  • @lovetogokiev lol my grandad probably did

  • dudes.

randomly people from wirral chipping in.

    LOL i will aswell.

    ISA FROM WALLASEY!

  • how to survive one; read the book homework for grownups really helps

  • Its amazing how a Xt22 is basically the same thing

  • Just need that German "ooooga" klaxon mixed in with this audio clip

  • The Marshall stack of sirens.

  • here on the wirral at 8:45 am you hear it and again at 9:00 something to do with a local factory i think

  • yeh im on the wirral and hear that too - it could be stanlow oil refinery maybe?

  • Wherea bout in the wirral are you, Im in wallasey

  • Eastham

  • cool....who makes these and how do you buy them? I'd like to have one of these and one of those really deep fog horns. ...ummmm bohhhhhhhhhhh! I'd love to play with that maybe once every five or six years or so, at about 3:00 in the morning...people would wake up wondering.....where in the hell did that come from?

  • haha !

  • @oldsouthjim I hope if you ever get one, and you do that, someone kills you for being the biggest asshole fucking ever. Don't joke 'bout this shit. :'(

  • i would have loved to have been in london during the luffwaffe bombings just so i could hear that sound and be chilled to the bone.

  • I understnad what you mean but many people died, thats not highly appropriate

  • Sounds like the siren in launching nuclear missile in china in command & conquer generals zero hour

  • Probably, it is. Castle Castings sirens were very popular warning signals for WW2, the Cold War, and Vietnam.

  • For Tannre40V2T

It was used to in the episode 'win, lose and kaboom!' special episode of jimmy neutron

  • That was a 2T22, I thought.

  • Set it vertically and slap on yellow horns it's almost the same thing ;)

  • You are correct.

  • DROP!! Put your head between your legs and kiss your goodbye...

    -___-

  • We have these in working order around the country cuz my uncle works for the Air Force and test of nuclear weapons under ground, when they sound that off, shit that sound goes off u better be in the safe zone when the count down starts.

  • Sounds like the best siren in the world too bad we dont have them in New England(U.S.A)<-not sure

any ways i wish we had flood sirens because it would keep going off Iowa in the state i live

  • how did u get the sound effects?

  • Wer so eine Sirene hat und diese verkaufen will kann mich bitte mal anschreiben!

  • @WaffenJunker in Engeland, aber weiß ich nicht wo.

  • if i heard that i would soil my pants.

  • in real life that is

  • that sound was real

  • English man English, wish I could speek German truely I do

  • My mum and dad use to have drills for these when they were in school. I think it is so scary because you would associate it with death

  • my town had one of these veeeeeery close to my house it would go off unschedueled*(spelling) but now it got scrapped a week ago. i miss it already:(

  • Castle Castings air raid siren on eBay - 1,200Pounds Sterling. Tower from Thyssen-Krupp to mount it on - Euro 6.000. Zero probability for using it during the Obama administration - Priceless.

  • I wish they could start thinking about making more future tornado sirens to sound exactly the same as that because that has a really good attention getter.

  • I wonder which siren sounds more scarier. This or a 4/5 port Thunderbolt on chopper level 5. I need everyone's opinion.

  • THESE!!! these are the ones I'm used to hearing.this was an all clear signal BTW

    =P

  • Yep.

  • I thougth an all clear was 4 loud high pitched bleeps

  • the fall out iminent sound is 3 loud clicks, bangs or beeps i dont know weather there all in sucsession but the all clear is one prolonged wreeeeeew sound like that in the vid ;)

  • awesome sound :D

  • noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo please none of that sound

  • If John McCain wins, we'll get used to this sound.

  • Ha! He didn't! xD

  • @Ross4916 LOL!! good thing he didnt

  • @Ross4916 no, it's much more likely that fucking America hating muslim asshole we have in office now that's most likely to have us killed... Barrack Hussein Obama. The fucking fraud.

  • @lovetogokiev I pity you.

  • @zachlutes and just why do you pity me?

  • do you use it

  • Ersteklasse

  • this is my favorite sound

  • Such a simple principal with an amazing, chilling, loud effect!

  • kool

  • God this one sends chills down my spine...scares the SHIT out of me...all tornado sirens are scary...but just...this one just sounds...fuckin WICKED!!!

  • @Stormchaser2be what are they supposed to sound like? ice cream trucks?

  • @ARR016a Well, if they sounded like Ice Cream trucks they wouldn't scare the shit out of me. So, no, they aren't.

  • @Stormchaser2be the scariest part is the first 3 seconds...

  • AAAIIIRRR RAAIIIIDDD

  • I hope they make more future tornado sirens sound just like that. That has a very good attention getter.

  • (response of Siren1000T) because its probably inpending a bomb

  • *a-bomb

  • Yep. I just wish that the torando sirens in America would sound more like that in commen. :)

  • responce to(peterpufferbelly)you don't buy them, the government delivers them them to protect the civilians.

  • You can buy the mini sirens though.

(I think thats what that one was since it was up agaist a wall and looks like it could only be heard within a 3 house diameter...actually I think its only a picture since those wheels arn't moving.)

  • yes you can buy them on ebay . I don't think there selling them now I checked but they have hand cranked air raid sirens

  • I don't realy like hand cranck siren's.

there to small to be loud.

  • How Big is this thing?

  • Chills down my spine: Wasn't this also used for the Blitz?

  • These are the sirens to show all clear in the Blitz. I don't know if they have them in America but you do get them in the U.K.

  • Man i would realy love one ov thoes sirens. They are realy cool.

  • where can you get them? ebay?

  • it looks creepy

  • GOD thats the one that freaks me out the most....

  • I know what you mean. But guess what? That's our school fire alarm! Our school is so old that they decided to keep the air raid siren (this one in the video) as our fire alarm. Right outside the grade 6 room and I was outside getting my lunch when it went off. I ALMOST DIED OF A HEART ATTACK. It scared the sh*t out of me. lol

  • Sounds the same as the volunteer fire service sirens used here - remember hearing them as a child, then haven't changed since. :D

  • This siren is a great one, but possibly the scariest. Great video, and I want to know were to get one of these. My neighbors will get some 'fascination' with it.

  • I was watching another video with one of these sirens.someone asked the same . i heard you can get one on ebay.but on the other video it didnt sound like this videos one.

  • dude when u hear that its not the "all clear" sound you fucking retard. it means take shelter incoming bombers/warplanes/warheads.

  • That was the all clear (Raiders passed note).

  • @thehate448 don't forget twisters/ your angry mother in law

  • @ColumbiaAndHoodRiver wow she is a baeuty wow it sounds so frightening yet sootig to hear

  • where can i get one of those?

  • Of course you realise that was an allclear note, or white alert...that would not mean you had 3 minutes to live. Perhaps 30...

  • i have really old people next door and i have a siren and i set it off and they have a shelter in the garden that they used in the war it scared the shit out of them and they ran to to their shelter it was verry funny

  • lol

  • nice one ;)

  • I want one!! =P

  • dude ur so wrong ive herd this at the base 12 times and they werent tests!! hostile aircraft flew overhead! but yeah its kinda scary! i hate when someone sets it off for fun }:(

  • lol i'm guilty i've set it off be4. funny as hell though

  • If you hear this sound you have about 3 minutes to live.

  • erm... Not really. It's the 'all clear' sound, meaning that all the bombers are already gone.

  • Well, I hope people won't get confused

    the way I got!

  • sounds scarier in alert

  • i mean attack

  • Ok if you think this siren sounds scaryer then a thunderbolt make a comment if you agree.

  • I agree 100000%. I never, ever want to hear this sound in real life...ever.

  • i hear it every month! LOL

  • that sound is so scary... If i were to ever hear that in real life, I'd think of Nukes on bombs and... worst of all, silent hill.

  • I stood and swam in a-bomb craters at Enewetok atoll...it ain't so bad, you kind of get used to it. After awhile you get smart and grow the mad max mullet and then they issue you a dune buggy and leather jacket and trousers.

  • and here come the nukes

  • the sound of death raining from the sky

  • this sound was the alert in germamy ww2 wehn the bombers comming

  • OMG!!!!! IT`S SO SCARY!!!!! AHHHHH! *faints*

  • tha has to be the most scary sound ever

  • silent hill! :D

  • Do you know where I can get a pair of end plates for a castle siren (same as the one in your video) just the ordinary end plates not the anti freezing ones.

    Thanks.

  • Hi i dont sorry all i can say is keep watching ebay or make some from a thin sheet of wood and paint them. That's what the D-D Museum has done to their siren which can be seen in one of my other vids. Good luck.

  • I might be wrong, but i know i have heard this siren somewhere else in alert mode instead of the all clear mode on TV somewhere. Still a good sound though

  • a carter siren is somewhat larger and bulkier but look very similar

  • classic civil defense siren sound, very audiable. perfect for its intentions

  • Ohh so THAT'S it!..Thanks for posting!

  • This is the sound you hear most frequent in movies, etc. Same siren I guess.

  • Resist the call of the Siren

  • That recording is a carter 2nd world war double ended siren though...very similar to castles which replaced them.

  • Great! you don't know where i can get two end plates from do you? They're missing off my castle.

  • which are you looking for the normal end plates or the ice defrosters?
