That IS a Castle Castings siren in the photos/video,

but that sound recording is actually a 1940s vintage Carter/Gents siren, which were the Castles' predecessor- with larger motor and a very slightly different tone, although the same 10/12 port ratio and pitch.

The Castle siren was common during the later Cold-war period and used as a nuclear warning siren until early 1990s

I believe this exact recording is the one which regularly featured in the BBCs "Dads Army" series...

Are these similar to the Gents Leicester sirens used in WWII. This one seems to have a similar tone and pitch. as the the above mentioned. I really would like to obtain one of these sirens either brand would suffice. Been looking on E-bay and the net and cannot find anything yet. I would think there would be a surplus in some of the British ruled Asian countries that were placed there to warn of Japanese Bombing attacks in WWII especially in Burma, Australia, India ect

Hi i dont sorry all i can say is keep watching ebay or make some from a thin sheet of wood and paint them. That's what the D-D Museum has done to their siren which can be seen in one of my other vids. Good luck.
