  • HAH! I love it - I have a tenor sax laying around and it never occurred to me to do this. It actually sounds really cool. Kudos to you for experimenting

  • A sax has loads of holes mate!

I'm trying this now with tenor:

    Gallagher's frolics on tenor sax

  • *.* it's awesome! I just began the thin whitsle.. but had play alto sax nearly 7 years and I restart again now... and with this, you make me wanna really to really master the both! What's this song? Did you had any partitions?

  • Well done !.....Have you hear Noel Sweeney from Longford ...he plays trad on Sax and Flute...has produced a CD. Lovely to hear a bit of good innovation!

  • Next Kenny G! Haha

  • WTFudge, l(sorry i don't swear) but seriously ur frggin fast

  • In the "Moving Hearts" band Keith Donald plays an curly soprano saxophone playing in D in unison with Davy Spillane on the uillean pipes. It works !

  • do you have a link to the music for this song? or do you know any way to get the music for sax? if its even written

  • What is the name of this tune?

  • That's awesome

I play sax to but i never played celtic songs on it

  • Nice one! Is this based on a reel or a jig or something. I am trying to get some celtic stuff on my alto. The ornamentation is what makes it - how do you approach that? Transcribing?

  • NICE ONE Man, TALENT and skill.

  • that was really good1youre awesome!

  • It gives me associations to the south indian saxophone player Kadri Gopalnath - if any stumbles over him, he is well worth a listen. He has tuned the saxophone into a south indian classical instrument, and really plays well.

  • Dito^^

  • despite the fact that it was probably unusual to play the reels on the sax it was surprisingly very well done and I'm a flautist and scottish as well so I know what you mean

  • omg i friggin love you

  • You should buy a Xaphoon mate!! I hope you do , it will sound very good!

  • awsome!hey dude, how many instruments can you play???

  • thats a first for me

  • prety good after not palying for a while... and yes doing irish embellishments are hard with keys on the toneholes... but you pull it off really well... i should try my jig music on my alto... thanks for the idea

  • the sax is not good for speed up music in my opinion, maybe a soprano sax doing the background music could work

  • wow you play saxophone too! how long it took to learn? how old are you? that was pretty cool!

  • dude that was amazing... you need to record a jam on sax with a bodhran/guitar/whistle... it would sound amazing

  • Wow! Nice attempt! I love this.

  • I was wondering what song you played on this? I am now back at school and am doing the same thing. I was hoping to do a reply to you. I will either way, with a different celtic song, but I'd prefur to do this one if you odnt midn!

  • No problem. I'm sending you a message for the details.

  • It's beena long time but am learning it as I sit here. I love the song but it is very hard for me to not play it as written since I am a classically train pianist and play saxopyhone in concert bands :P

I really like the way you play it, so Im trying to to play it 'perfect' like the sheet music :P.

  • Hi! I got a question that was also asked by one of the your commenters here.

How many instruments can you play? O_O

    reply. thank you! ^_^

  • your'e so cool XD

  • man ur my idol!!!!! what kind of sax is that? and what is that song called?

  • dude, just to tell u, that is an alto sax. and... on another note, i play jazzy stuff on my tenor sax, and man, no matter how bad i feel, if i pick up that tenor and start playing the music right and then start playing some improv and it starts sounding good.... it is like a narcotic, i immediately feel awesome... i dont kno if it like that for anyone else, but the sax is like.... i dont kno, but it is really awesome to me

  • ok man...i know it is an alto sax...i meant what brand is it! Im not a retard...

  • That's exactly how I feel when I'm just improving with my sax I swear it's like I can just feel what to play it's almost like me and my sax are one. I am convinced I sound my best when I am improving

  • lol. Molly on the Shore... hehe.

  • That's crazy! How many instruments do you play?? Did you ever take lessons or do you just teach yourself whatever you want to play?

  • My sister will love this! She plays saxophone and was wondering if it was possible to play Celtic music on it. You've just proven that it is. Awesome!

  • I think slow airs would be your best bet on the sax!

  • that was fuckin awesome. i never thought celtic (one of my favorite kinds of music) would ever work on an instrument like the saxophone.

  • Thats amazing!! I play the sax never thought of celtic!!!!

  • keep your fingers closer to the keys for faster playing and work on your breathing. kinda shoddy. perdy good though. fiddle = bad, but prolly getting there. flute/whistle/sax = good. just work on the breathing and tone (mainly for sax)

  • that was absolutly mind blowing

  • Coool! Is there anything you can't do?! Lol! :)

  • Very nice! I love it!

  • Hey tinwhistler, your tempo and fingerings are good. Just work with your embroucure, every saxaphone players problem. But other then that awsome.

  • haha...There actually are Irish cds with sax. Deanta, one of my favorite bands has a couple songs on the album with sax. One version of riverdance also had sax in one of the songs. I'm sure there are others.

  • Hey get a soprano and you'll sound a little like uilleann pipe. :-D
