ghasts (nether) spiders, skeletons, and creepers

the passive ones are: chickens,cows, pigs

I think the first spawner I ever found was a spider spawner. I used the same strategy for every dungeon since, tunneling beneath the spawner, breaking it, then killing the mobs one by one.

FYI MinecraftChick,

If you press F3 you can see where mobs are underground as that shows their mob number. The numbers are like names of other people on SMP servers.

You can also keep pressing your fog button on your keyboard to see flames of a torch or spawner.
