YOST: Yes, Nazis exist in this world. Hydra is a branch of the Nazis. The Axis powers are Germany, Japan and Italy. Hydra was the focus of Cap's activities, though, as well as the Howling Commandos... and thus they were our focus.

They competed with the Nazis in sponsorship and technology development. I'm not sure, though, so don't quote me on it. I'm more involved in the DC universe than Marvel.

HYDRA was an organization created by a nan who was a nazi, so the Nazis created HYDRA. So in any portrayal of Captain America whether it be in this show or in the upcoming movie Captain America should be fighting the nazis to remain true to history and the comics. Lastly, the Red Skull is a Nazi like Baron Zemo and Baron Strucker
